Sheraton Edison Hotel Raritan Center

Nice location, nice lobby, and a Starbucks within the hotel. Room quality is noticeably different. In summary, fine for business travel, perhaps not for a luxury stay. While nothing was largely wrong (other than a non-​working outlet when needing to charge a work laptop), the room was in need of additional cleaning. The comforter had a couple of small smudges, dirt/​dust lined bathroom baseboards, bathroom tiles were in need of cleaning, bathtub bottom (liner?) was dirty and discolored in comparison to the rest of the tub, and no refrigerator. However, the bed was comfortable, the wifi was useful, and the television had good options.

You have to go to the bar and visit Sue for Happy Hour. She is the best I have seen and believe me, I have been to a crazy amount of happy hours across the country. She will really take care of you; trust me. She is the best!

Stayed for the holiday weekend to attend a wedding on the club floors. Wasn’t anything special about the club floor. The room didn’t even have a fridge. There is a lounge on the floor with drinks available, but they don’t tell you at check-​in about it so we didn’t find out until the day we were leaving.

It’s so terrible hotel. My mother and I left a bag in the drawer. I called them one hour after I leave the hotel! They just said they didn’t find it! My mother and I are for sure it is in it! The second time I called the hotel they said the house keeping people are not there. They just don’t want to find it for me.

I normally stay at this hotel 1 week every year. This is the first year I’m not staying at this Sheraton. I switched to another hotel because of the issues. Year after year. All on different dates. I have some issue with this hotel.
This Sheraton is located in the industrial park in Edison NJ. As someone who has stayed here multiple times. The best part of this hotel is the bar. The bar maid has been here for years. She is fantastic and knows a lot of the people by name and comes over and hugs them.
The hotel itself is big. There is a gym a swimming pool and a Starbucks inside. By how this hotel looked and the size you would think the service and experience would be better. But nooo. 2 years in a row the fire alarm went off at night. I travel around 200 days a year. Not once have I ever had the fire alarm go off. What are the chances of every year the week I’m at this hotel the alarms go off. Everyone had to get up while the fire department checked the hotel out. The manager said someone pulls the alarm every week. This year I had other employees staying here and they told me the fire alarm went off again at 1am.
The gentleman at the front desk was nice and would say hi to me when I went past to meet friends at the bar. There is a restaurant called the chairmans grill. The food was ok. The drinks were super expensive. It was $ 8 a beer.
Overall. I travel a lot. I have stayed at a lot of hotels. I tried to give this location a chance a few times and my experiences were not good. I’m so happy I stayed at another location. I think this hotel would be fine for staying overnight. But any longer that 1 night. I would not recommend this hotel at all!

The GM of this location has completely lost his mind. I stayed at this hotel as a business stop before my 8 am meeting in town. This location has a defective fire alarm. Supposedly someone pulled the alarm at midnight, but the alarm continued until 3 AM! How is that acceptable?!! I had to leave and book a room same night at a neighboring hotel for only 5
Hours to sleep. He refused to refund me for the night and said it wasn’t their problem. My father and I stay at a Sheraton over 60+ days a year for work.
You can kiss that goodbye.

Hotel is nice and clean! The pool can be better need to clean it! Other then that they have a Starbucks in the hotel that is great but can use 2 more workers at 3 o’clock gets very busy line out the door!

Thin walls. Light sleepers beware. Especially the rooms with connecting doors. I can hear tv and people talking next door. Free starbucks coffee and bottled waters in room.
Bedsheets have some hair i am just going to assume they are the room service’s hair. I agree with others on the dirty spots on blankets, carpet floor. I will stick with Marriott from now on. Their quality seem to be more consistent.

Meh. We got here a week after a large snowstorm, and several spaces in the lot –including one of the handicapped spaces closest to the entrance– were taken up by piles of snow. I get that the lot had to be plowed and the snow had to go somewhere– but maybe not in a handicapped space? The lot was quite icy as we walked in.
First room we were given smelled very strongly of pot. Plus a dog was barking loudly in the next room. We headed back downstairs to request a different room. Second room was fine, except had to turn tv on and off a few times before the screen came on. No fan in bathroom. Could very clearly hear conversations of other guests, either in adjacent room or hallway.
Hit club floor lounge on way back to room. Smelled a little funky/​musty and snacks were lacking, but was able to grab a bottle of water and husband helped himself to a cappuccino. Breakfast next morning was fine.
I think this place is just that– fine. Not bad, not awesome. Staff did apologize for room issue and were overall friendly and efficient.

Joey & Cecilia at the front desk were very helpful. In the dinning area for breakfast it was apparent Nasmi had trained Enercida very well. She gave friendly service with a smile, was attentive and even went out of her way to teach my wife who’s a doctor some medical phrases in Spanish to help her better communicate with her Spanish speaking patients.

People who said this hotel is great probably did not live in a real great hotel in their lives. This hotel is TERRIBLE! The staff is rude and unfriendly, when I called for room service there were no answers and the guy who picked up phone was sounded really rude and uncare. He simply told me call front desk!

Let’s just say I would rather eat garbage out of a dumpster than be forced to eat at their snotty restaurant. I’ve had better food and service for ¹⁄₁₀^th the price at a Denny’s at 4 in the morning. Waited 30mins to be seated, another 20 to even get a drink order in. Rare steak isn’t supposed to be raw. Forgot my soup entirely. Spend the $ to get a taxi to White Castle.

I normally don’t stay in this hotel. I normally stay in the Hyatt or Marriott. WHY DID I WASTE MY TIME HERE. The 1^st night was decent, I was disappointed with no complimentary breakfast, the additional charge of 10 $ to wifi, that I received no membership points (the date I chose wasn’t eligible) no fridge or microwave, I STILL decided to extend my stay. I called reservations, who gave me a price 40 $ more than the hotel website. So I booked online to receive the rate. Then I went to front desk, the manager on staff wasn’t able to comprehend that I was paying in cash & using my card in proxy of incidentals. My card was 4 $ short the required amount. The night prior this wasn’t a problem. Today HouseKeeping Manager Herbert opens my door while I’m naked. Stands there & STILL DOESNT leave & actually tries to reason with me about my room not registering as booked while IM STILL UNDRESSED !!! I go down stairs to front desk. Short thin blonde biased man by the name of Sam tells me to LEAVE ! That HE is in charge today & it doesn’t matter what was able to be done for me yesterday. I actually needed him to clarify this for me, I offered to give 3x the measly 50 $ incidental rate in cash & pay for my room an additional day. Are you telling me you don’t want my money, my business & to go pack my things? He said YES ! Wow ! I’ve never ever received such horrible service ! An entire family was at the front desk watching the spectacle. What a HORRIBLE name to give the Sheraton Hotel ! I will never stay here again. I will tell all who cross my path of the employees who can’t speak English, barge in room, observe your body, the commonwealth state type policy that can change day to day based on who’s managing reservations. The drunk man who was going bonkers in my hallway & security took half an hour to remove him. Yet I’m Jazzy Jeffed out of this chum bucket? Maybe it’s for the best. I deserve better. BEWARE THIS HOTEL. As I packed, the front desk called me. To RUSH me. To please take no more than 45 minutes. I hope a gas leak happens in this building.

Rooms are older and service is spotty. The lounge is fairly decent and they usually have enough for a meal but not a great one.
Lounge also has spotty service although on occasion is can get good I feel like I’m chasing sprites or something.
Biggest issue with this place is Internet. No matter where I am it sucks. I literally can’t stream a 15 second YouTube clip without lag. This is the kinda internet that makes text mails load like they are 4k resolution PNG interlaced images.
Parking is plenty unless you come in late (after 9) then everything is packed. There is a pool and a gym but neither are very nice.
I have stayed in plenty of sheraton’s and this one isn’t terrible but it’s pretty rough.
Fix the Internet +1 star. Fix the service +1 star. Now revamp the hotel so it’s not so old and worn out looking at you have a decent hotel.

Absolutely the worst impression I’ve ever had for a Sheraton. First, the SPG floor was apparently booked but that was fine and understandable. The foyer gives off a welcoming and exquisite vibe but does not make up for the disappointing room. The sheets contained many stains as well as the carpet! Several fixtures in the room need updating including the windows and furniture. I could not wait to go home. Fortunately service was great. Location is not convenient and parking was a difficulty but possibly due to an unknown event. Would not recommend and will not return.

I’m not generally one who stays in a Sheraton, but am a loyal SPG member and stay at all of the other brands.
This Sheraton was particularly bad. Though the staff was friendly, and the lobby was updated and looked clean, the hotel needs some serious upkeep.
The rooms are ok the smaller side, bathroom tiles old and dingy, a theme I noticed throughout the room. The linens were in need of a good washing and bleaching, along with the rest of the bedding, including pillows and blankets. The carpets had spots all over them. The décor definitely needs some updating. Perhaps a full renovation is needed for the bedrooms — this Sheraton should be targeted next for any renovation budgets.
The AC in one of the rooms I had was not working, calling down to the front desk a few times — still not fixed upon check-​out.
Over all very disappointed with my stay, I will stick to the Westin, Le Meridian or W’s from here on out to avoid wasting my points or cash on uncomfortable stays.

i stay at the sheraton edison on a regular basis, and while for the most part the rooms are just fine, the staff is friendly, and the rates are cheap, there are a few things that the hotel could do to improve its experience for customers:
–cleanliness: while the rooms are typically clean enough, the gym is not cleaned on a regular basis. There was a dead worm on the floor for over 4 weeks straight, and I have noticed things like wadded up paper towels on a Tuesday that are still there on Thursday.
–loyalty: many other Starwood properties reward Platinum loyalty with a welcome gift, but this is not provided at the Edison
–amenities: elevators have broken down multiple times (once, all 3 and had to carry suitcase down 11 flights of stairs), key service went down this week and all keys needed to be replaced, faucets and showers are inconsistent

First of all, I have to say most of the reviews I have read about this place are right on the money. Perhaps because so many management consultants seem to stay here. One thing this hotel does better than many other SPG properties I’ve stayed at recently is value the guest. If there is an upgraded room available, they will give it to you. If you are a Gold member, they don’t mind upgrading you by giving you club lounge access. (something that Gold SPG used to be entitled to, now its Platinum)
I keep coming back to hotels that make me feel valued. The ones that don’t, I will drive an extra 20 or 30 minutes to avoid them. (this means you, Sheraton Mahwah)
The Sheraton Edison is one of the less expensive hotels in the area. You will save $ 100 or more by staying here vs. the Westin nearby or the Sheraton in Parsippany. The hotel might not be as full service, however I find that the staff is the nicest you could hope for. My check in here was fantastic … I can’t remember the name but it was a perky girl with dark hair who smiled the whole time. Little things like that make the difference.
The actual rooms of the hotel … I would say they are classy but a bit worn out. The rooms are pretty small (250 square feet) and the bathrooms have been updated a bit but are tiny. I didn’t feel that I could spread out in the room but I do feel that they made good use of the space in the room and at night I could do my pushups and situps even though the room was small.
The beds are comfortable … as are most Sheraton beds and the pillows are the best out of any big hotel chain. The only thing I do not like is that you have to pay $ 10/​day for internet. They didn’t charge me because they upgraded me to the club floor as I just became a Gold member. However, it would bring them down to 3 stars if I had to pay $ 5 for internet … in this day and age that policy just has to go. Sheraton is one of the last holdouts … Marriott, IHG and Hilton have all started to offer all guests free wifi.
I didn’t partake in the food here … but I did use the pool. The hot tub was chilly at night and perfectly warm during the day. The workout room was nice but for some reason many of the free weights (dumbells) were missing.
Lots of Japanese tour bus crowds (seems rather far from the city for that) and business people. They also do a booming event business here.
The best thing I can say about this hotel is that they make guests feel welcome and appreciated. If it means giving away a few extra bottles of water by granting club lounge access to Gold members … I promise it means a lot in the long run when it comes to choosing this hotel over another. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area with the caviat that it’s the staff … not the rooms … that make me recommend it.

I did not want to stay in Edison overnight, but I was in town for a meeting and spent two nights at this hotel.
Check In: The person at the front desk was new, and it kind of showed. Instead of using the credit card that was on my reservation when it was booked by my company, I ended up having to put it on another card. Annoying because it meant more paperwork for me, but not the end of the world.
Room: I arrived after 10 pm, and I think I lost out on the room I was supposed to have. I ended up in a handicapped accessible/​midget friendly room. I know this, because when I opened the closet to hang my clothes, the rod was at my knees. My shirts would not be fitting in this closet, so in the drawer they went.
I also had no soap in my room. I found this strange. When I called the front desk and inquired if I could get some, they were very pleasant on the phone and sent housekeeping up. The housekeeping lady had a big bag of shampoo, conditioner and lotion, and one bar of soap. I think she thought I was trying to steal it, because she left me with about 10 bottles of shampoo and one bar of soap. She, too, was very pleasant and was up very soon after I called.
The restaurant closed the first night I was there fairly early. The bar was still open, and thankfully, I could order something to take back to my room for dinner. The second night, I couldn’t order anything from the bar, so I ordered dessert through roomservice and had it delivered. Again, they were fast and friendly.
The hotel room I was in seemed a bit old and outdated and plain, but I think it’s fair that I reserve judgement on it until next time, when I hopefully get a non-​handicapped room.

I’ve been staying here from Mondays-​Thursdays because I’m a consultant, and that’s what we do :) Live in hotels! So I’ve gotten to know this hotel very well over the past couple months.
There are two types of people who come here — businesspeople and NYC tourists (because no one would ever come to Jersey for pleasure, right? :)). You will see massive tour groups gathering in the lobby area at all times of day, ready to skirt off to the Big Apple in large buses. Then there’s the other half — the businessmen and businesswomen (mostly consultants) who come to the area for work.
The staff here are really a mixed bag. For the most part, they are really friendly and I don’t have any complaints. But I have also been really low maintenance (low expectations are key sometimes). I’m not sure if they are affiliated with the hotel, but the Starbucks Staff is the issue. They are always so gloomy and act like they’re doing you such a favor by taking every dollar out of your pocket to get your mid-​level coffee (which is still better than the coffee in the Concierge Lounge). But I will say that it is wonderful to have a Starbucks right in the hotel! That’s probably my #1 reason for continuing to book here.
Now, on to the rooms… the meat of the review. …AND the meat is soggy. I know, weird. But the rooms are just dirty. I have to close my eyes when I’m in the shower because things are grimy and look old /​like they need to be cleaned badly. Also, there aren’t really any suites here, and the walls are paper thin. I’ve asked to move to a different room twice because I could hear my next door neighbors when I just wanted to sleep.
The gym gets the job done. It isn’t as nice as the Sheraton Parsippany. It has treadmills and elipticals, and also doesn’t get the traffic that Sheraton Parsippany gets, but it would be nice to have some strength training machines and such. On the plus side, there is a whirlpool and pool here, both of which I have not tried out.
If I could, I would probably stay elsewhere, but this is the best I can get for now!
