I stopped in here after a failed attempt to attend Heard on Hurd. Sweeney’s offered two things: food and air conditioning. Well, and alcohol so make that three things! It’s not super fancy by any means. There’s a few tables for dining, but the emphasis was definitely on the bar, where I happily sat and ordered a couple o’ Blue Moons and a plate of fish and chips. So I like to dine solo and am not ashamed of it in the least. So what do you do at a bar when you’re alone and don’t want to play on your phone? You read! I pulled out my book and happily read while waiting for my food. I received a few side-eyes from the bartender, but whatevs, dude. I can read at the bar. I do what I want! So aside from a perplexed bartender, my food and drinks were good. While Sweeney’s isn’t high on my list of Edmond Eats, it hit the spot when those food truck lines were just too darn long.

I love this place, roomy, not claustrophobic; chicken fingers are awesome and the white wine is always chilled to perfection! The staff is super friendly and the bar is large :)

My husband and I went for«date day» & really enjoyed our time there. The atmosphere was great and the food even better! The fried goat cheese is fantastic! Looks like they’ll have some different foods to try throughout the seasons, so it will be fun to keep visiting!

The door was locked and they were turning people away because their kitchen was short handed, for the second night in a row. They were quite rude about it both nights. The attitude among the managers is very negative. We will never return. Try skinny slims instead!

Went there over the weekend. The fried goat cheese was excellent. The burgers were so so… not horrible, but nothing really memorable. The one thing that really bothered me was all the table and chairs sit high up. I am partially disabled, and it is very difficult for me to sit in those types of high seats. I asked if there were any lower tables, and was told no. I can’t imagine what someone who happened to be in a wheelchair would do if they wanted to eat there. Maybe they haven’t had anyone address the issue really with them before, but I hope it’s something that would address in the future. The waiter just sort of shrugged his shoulders when we asked him about lower seating.

When Sweeney’s first opened in Edmond, I went there multiple times with my family and enjoyed it. The fish and chips were good, not spectacular, but passable. Their Ruben was also life changing the first two times I had it, but then things started to go down hill. Their service has been consistently bad over the last 8 months. I went once on a trivia night, and they only had one waitress who spent a lot of the night leaning on the bar with her arms crossed, and rarely checking on any tables. The food was lackluster and cold. I left very disappointed which was a change from how strongly I enjoyed going there when they first opened. I recently went on a Friday for lunch when I got off work with my boyfriend, and we sat at a table for 10 minutes and didn’t see one staff member on the floor during that period. We decided to leave and as we were getting up someone finally noticed us and tried to get us to stay and eat, but we were already over it at that point. I have tried to give Sweeney’s multiple times to redeem itself, but I just keep getting bad service or poor quality food. So if you need fish and chips in the Edmond, try Fish City Grill instead.

This place is great. The chairs are soooo comfortable and the tables are spread out in a way where you feel like you can claim your own space. Felt welcomed there. Service was on top of it and the food was absolutely excellent. Had the fried goat cheese balls and fish and chips. We are definitely going back. Great place to eat then hang out and have some drinks.

Great location for a pub — this area of Edmond definitely needed a bar that served decent food, good drinks, had decent people serving and good screens to watch sports on. The front area has bar-height tables for dining and I have seen a few families with kids dining in that area but mostly large groups, like 8+ people, dining and drinking. The bar wraps around and there are large projectors playing whatever sports is on that you can easily view from wherever you’re sitting. There are usually two bartenders in the middle serving everyone seated at the bar. On Fridays and Saturdays when I’ve come all seats have been filled and service by the bartenders has been quick and friendly. What really brought me back the second time was actually the food! Which is weird because I am not usually a standard pub fare kind of girl but they have great fish and chips, salads, sandwiches, bangers and mash… I try a new thing each time and haven’t been disappointed yet. I also like that it’s a little cozier, clean, friendly staff and nice patrons, and like I said before, great location.

First off, I think this Justin guy below with the one star review was drunk and didn’t know what was going on! I have been there numerous times and had excellent service! Foods great, all made from scratch. the drink specials are good, $ 2 domestic drafts during the thunder games and happy hours have free chips and salsa strongly suggest if your looking for a low key, comfortable environment for a cold beer and catching a sporting event!

This review is based on 5 visits. Absolutely worst service I’ve ever experienced at a bar. Expect extremely pretentious douchey bartenders and having to wait with an empty glass in hand for at least 5 minutes. That kind of wait time is ridiculous for a bar that only holds 15 people. The bartenders seem to think that they are not at work but rather there to party. I’ve seen a few taking shots behind the coolers, and have waited with an empty glass several times as they talk to female customers and show them photos on their phones. Seems like a great place to work, but an awful place to grab a drink on Edmond. I’d suggest taking the drive to OKC, or going to Skinny Slim’s, Majors, or Henry Hudsons. On a good note the food is decent for a bar menu. Although the the other bars i mentions above have equally good menus. AVOIDTHISPLACE! By the way, it is right next to the Edmond Police Station!!! DUI central! ****All the good reviews on here are from the owner’s friends*****

Great food, great atmosphere, and excellent service. Large bar, tons of tvs, and comfy seats. Located right in the heart of Downtown Edmond so you really can’t get any better than this.

This place has a good location. It is miss leading in terms of atmosphere. It doesn’t have an Irish pub feeling it’s more of a sports bar with the big screens and bright light.

Came in on lunch break during the week with a colleague, and it was pretty quiet. We were seated at the bar right away and had plenty of room. I was unimpressed with the beer menu, and the food menu looks more like an American sports bar than an Irish pub. I ended up ordering a burger and fries, and they were average. I think if they pumped up the Irish persona this place could be pretty cool.

Former Oklahoman lookin for a good place to watch the first game of the season and boy was I happy we found this place. The owner is hilarious with his flashlight and his sarcastic comments. It was neat he was so attentive to our table. Also the goat cheese balls were literally amaze-ballz ;) Chicken and waffles on the menu were a win as well.

I’m glad I experienced this place… once. Probably won’t go back again. The beer was very expensive and the wine was OK. They hadn’t even one vegan item at all(the waitress wasn’t even sure what a vegan was). No real atmosphere. I guess if you wanted to watch sports all day, this is the place for you.

Second time here. First time for dinner. We ordered the grilled rueben, grilled caesar salad and cole slaw side. We split the Irish nachos between 4 of us-large portion. One of our friends ordered the bangers and mash and said it was excellent. The food here is fantastic! The grilled rueben is killer! Had a Snake Bite a couple glasses of the house cabernet. I thought the pours for the wine were a bit short but hey they were only six bucks! The Snake bite was nice. No wine selection to speak of, but hey, ya don’t go to an Irish Pub to drink wine. Yah? Wine is my adult beverage of choice. They now have a new expanded menu with a few additional items. Service was good. This place is more of sports bar than an Irish pub(the only thing Irish about it is a few of the dishes.) I really hope this place makes it. I like the chill vibe here.

As Irish as «Lucky Charms». The Guinness Fish and Chips are good, and the chicken nachos were hearty but cooled quickly. Nice space, high ceilings and friendly staff. Disappointed that the Irish flavor doesn’t extend past the logo on the door. If you’re looking for an Irish Pub, you won’t find one here.

Thank you, Ryan McGann, for opening a nice new pub in Edmond! Standouts: friendly staff! Yay! Five big screens showing sports! Great for people who like sports! The cod for their fish and chips gets flown in from Massachusetts! Fresh seafood is yummy! Vinegar-y cole slaw! No ominous white sludge, just tasty flavor, with lots of celery seed! Room for improvement: the beer selection is pretty basic. The menu is standard pub fare – rumor has it, a few Irish items will be added before too long. For now, if you are hungry for hot wings or chicken and waffles, Sweeney McGann’s has you covered, but if you are craving corned beef and cabbage or bangers and mash, you’ll be disappointed. Conclusion: a great addition to Edmond, and I look forward to seeing how they come along!
