Dear Mike Pederson, yes you know me and yes, I DID take your class. I took your class at that seedy SEATAC motel conference room you rented out in early 2014. Thanks for splurging on a location in a neighborhood of drugs and hookers Mike. You showed VCR tapes from the early 90’s on EIFS, roofing, ladder safety, deck construction etc. Anything that killed time for you. You talked on your phone during class time constantly, were rude to your students and there was ZERO classroom interaction. Your«curriculum» consisted of a massive binder with xeroxed copies that were in such a random order that they were impossible to follow. You charged my fellow students $ 1500 for training that YOUDON’T EVENDO!!! You hand your students a phone number of an inspector who doesn’t have ANY idea that students might be calling him. Is that worth $ 1500??? Your class is a joke. Your teaching abilities are a joke. You are not even licensed. Here is the web link to prove it. I learned one thing in your class. WHATNOTTODO. What I DID do was study INTERNACHI for 2 months straight after learning nothing in your class and passed the exam on my first try. Do your research folks, there are other Home Inspection Training classes out there. Do not settle for this one.

Before taking a class from this guy please, call around to the other training places and see what they say. This class is a complete joke, except it isn’t funny. Not in the least. It was the biggest waste of 13 days and nearly $ 4,000.00 I have ever spent. It’s embarrassing that the state of Washington would certify this home inspection class. Clearly no one who does the certification has taken his class, or even bothered to review his«curriculum.» Other classes teach to the test and provide relevant information. The test to become a home inspector is not easy. I have my masters degree and am certified in my field. The home inspector test rivals any test I’ve taken to date, for my masters degree or certificates. Naries and Mr. Pederson do absolutely nothing to prepare you for the test. Even worse, the teacher is flat out wrong about so much information. If he actually knew what information was on the test and attempted to cover that info, that would be one thing. But he rambles on about anecdotal stories that have no relevance, and do literally nothing to prepare the students for the test or the real world of home inspection. At times in class he would go on racist, misogynistic, and xenophobic rants. Most of the time he would show home improvement tapes from the 1990’s; they were literally VHS! People would show up hours late in the morning, from lunch, or from breaks and he never said a word about it. He’d just hand out the sign-in sheet. He farted often in class. I wish I was joking about any or all of this, but I’m simply not. If you need to take the class in a hurry and where he teaches is convenient, I can’t encourage you enough to look elsewhere and make whatever sacrifice necessary, so that you don’t have to take this class from him. It’s an insane waste of time and money, and you really have to do something to prepare for the test you’ll need to take to get licensed. You can probably get the study books and pass the test just fine, but why waste all that time and money on a class and get nothing?! Do yourself a favor and take a class from someone who has a decent reputation, and provides something of value that you’ll need and use in the not too distant future.
