A wonderful shop with beautiful wooden butcher blocks of the highest quality, at competitive prices, and with the best service you could possibly ask for. Worth a swing through Effingham to take a look!

Everyone here is so welcoming and helpful, especially Norbert! We stopped by on a road trip and picked up a beautiful edge grain board for ourselves and another one as wedding present Our board is so gorgeous, we’ll be leaving it out on the counter so you can always see it. They also have tables, countertops and other accessories in the showroom. The«seconds room» has a varying selection of slightly imperfect boards at a deep discount, you just have to have the fortitude to wade through them and pick out the best one. They also have regular boards wrapped up in plastic packaging at a pretty hefty discount. To give you an idea of the price variations, our«second» board was $ 65. The regular, wrapped-up one in the showroom was $ 125. The online price was around $ 200 from other sellers. Norbert was even nice enough to show us different options for the block«feet» and installed them for free on our board.(Maple, walnut, and stainless steel!) He then took us to the back and burned another logo into the other side of our board. We even accidentally took the wrong board home and after that mix up, they were kind enough to help us fix the problem and swap them out. I highly recommend stopping and grabbing a block or two! At these prices, I would be fine buying more than one just for my kitchen. We look forward to coming back when we have our own house and some kitchen countertops to build!

For a fun road trip from Chicago, visit the Boos Factory Showroom! You can find beautiful, substantial cutting boards and island tops here for a third of the price you will pay at Williams Sonoma. They have brand new, wrapped in plastic, merchandise at a discount, as well as «seconds»(minor scratches, cracks, or dings) for super deep discount. Norbert is entertaining and certainly won’t let you leave empty handed — but anyway, why would you? Load up the car and leave room for one of the islands, which are a steal at the showroom prices.

This place is such a find! Norbert was extremely helpful. My boyfriend and I bought a gorgeous maple table with exposed pipe fittings — a one of a kind piece that had been built for a trade show. Got a great deal on it too, will have the gorgeous work table forever! We rented a truck and drove the table home that night. Worth the drive down from Chicago. The showroom also had alot of their lovely and more traditional tables for sale, and tons of cutting boards.

John Boos products are very expensive and are supposed to be very nice. I ordered an island with a solid wooden top for nearly $ 500 bucks. It arrived with 3 heavy duty staples embedded in the wooden top. We called John Boos direct and they refused to return the top and send a new one. What is up with that? They are not going to stand behind their workmanship!

This place is awesome. Was there today and bought a piece off of discount cart. They basically insisted on trying to repair the top before we left. They went above and beyond what was necessary for me to leave a happy customer. Thank you I will definitely go back.

This is a hidden gem, we purchased a work island with a pot rack years ago, sold it to one of my inlaws and wish I had it back. Making a stop by there soon as I just purchased a new home. YOUCAN“T miss this place, make a detour to see it.

Norbert is amazingly knowledgeable and fun to work with. I have purchased loads of goods including traditional butcher block and beautiful, darker walnut, conditioning oils, custom islands and other cool kitchen stuff there. I feel blessed to live right here in Effingham so I can stop in often. The boards make amazing wedding/birthday gifts! Add a great knife or herb chopper and you’re all set.

John Boos Co. has groupies, not just fans. And they stop here on their cross country travels to score some butcher block. This is a terrific showroom, with a lot of different products available for purchase, including a number of their butcher block tables, countertops, and stainless products in the back. The store is not terribly large, but they make the most of it. If you need a cutting board or butcher block, these guys make the best, and you can find them here at deep discounts. Really dedicated salesman who stayed ten minutes after close to give us a hand. That gets a fifth star. Look forward to returning.

I would have gave them 10STARS! The experience was awesome from the start, I live in California and wanted to order a butcher block – I knew what I wanted it to look like but could not find one I liked, I found John Boos. I told them what I wanted, specifically and they built it and shipped it out weeks later. When it arrived, the boxes were in good condition, the freshly painted wood was flawless – not a scratch or ding! It was the best shipment I had ever received! I am in love with my butcher block, not only is it beautiful and functional – its solid! Thank you John Boos, I would recommend you to anyone wanting a quality piece of furniture delivered, and will certainly be a returning customer.

There’s a very big secret hidden in little Effingham, IL. John Boos & Co. products are made there. What’s more, there’s a factory outlet store a stone’s throw from the factory. A TRUE factory outlet. If you know John Boos products, you will swoon when you walk into the outlet. It’s jam-packed with beautiful boards of all kinds; chopping & butcher blocks; carts, islands & work tables; and other gorgeous products. You won’t believe your eyes! You will wish for a truck so you can take more home. I purchased a very large, reversible, cherry cutting board with hand grips for a song! There’s no way I could have afforded to purchase the board at a retail store. The next time you’re travelling along I-57 and you see the giant cross, turn on your GPS and let it take you to the John Boos factory outlet. You won’t be sorry.
