Go frequent this place because the food and customer service is amazing. They are always smiling and so kind to their customers. I always get the chow mein and I make it spicy. It’s only about 10 bucks and can feed 2 – 3. Not to mention they have ice drinks that a lot of people don’t have! Make sure to check this place out!

This review is for the salt and pepper wings only. They are crispy and delicious. They also come packed in a vented styrofoam box so they don’t get soggy on the way home. Yum!

Disgusting!!! Salt with a side of rice. I ordered orange chicken(extra spicy) and peppered beef. The orange chicken was bland only seasoning was salt, thank goodness I asked for«spicy». The peppered beef was like soup. Also they only took cash. It’s 2015 get with it people. Never ever again!

Located in a small strip mall this little family owned and run Chinese eatery not only makes Chinese cuisine, but Thai cuisine as well. The Thai is what I had here in the form of a spicy noodles dish with chicken and vegetables. The spicy noodles was quite a handsome plate ans quite generous as well for $ 9.95( ). The flat noodles were perfectly cooked to a tender and chewy were well flavored with the sauce and spice( ). I went for a level three spice because I like my heat in the background so I can better appreciate the flavor and texture of the food I eat. The chicken was spot on with its tenderness, seasoning hence its good flavor( ). The vegetables, especially the bell peppers, were crisp and vibrant. This was a very success and delicious dish. If you eat in, they give you a bowl of crispy fried wonton skins and a side of sweet and sour sauce. The noodles were great to munch on before the meal arrived. You order at the counter, pay in cash, and then they bring your food to your table piping hot. Nice family…

Came here the other night and got orange chicken combination. Like another reviewer said, it was a little pricey for what I got. orange chicken was definetely better than Panda Express though. The fried rice tasted better too, but only has rice and egg in it. Big menu of Chinese and thai cuisines which is a plus. The staff was very nice, almost to the point of being creepy

So my first time here, and I must agree with someone else’s review. It’s 3 stars for me, the taste is ok, and I have had better. The customer service is great, but I will give it another try. They do give you a large amount, and for the price it’s more than enough. The broccoli beef & chow mien was good and very fulfilling.

Wow! The food and service were simply amazing! The food is fresh and hot enough that it didn’t get cold on a half mile walk home. At first glance the place is a hole in the wall, there aren’t ever many people inside, but I’m happy I took the chance. I ordered the chicken with garlic sauce with fried rice and cream cheese wontons to go. The food took maybe 10 minutes to prepare. My total was $ 17 which surprised me until I saw how much food I got. I will definitely be back and soon!

To start I want to express how amazingly friendly and kind the employees are. The thai tea with boba was the best I have ever had. I ordered for me and my family. We had the shrimp chow mein, salt and pepper wings, pork dumplings, won tons and won ton soup. All of the entres were delicious and came in HUGE portions. At first the prices seemed a little high, but when I saw how much food I was getting, I was ok with the price. My order was large, they carried it to my car for me.

This is one of those hole in the wall gems! I have been coming here for years because the food is great! Good portions and very fresh! It’s not the cheapest Chinese food out there, but it is worth it. I no longer live in El Cajon, but will drive out there to have a great meal. The family that runs this restaurant are super nice.

It’s okay. There’s a couple of things I didn’t like. 1. To over priced 2. Food has no flavor 3. If you order the shrimp they only give you like 3 and the rest chow main 4. The spring rolls have way to much lettuce. I’ve had better a lot better. I’m giving it two stars because the food they do give you is a lot. But like I said earlier the price is not so great. A lot of people put good reviews for this place. Ill try it one more time ill order something different and it’s any better then it might just go up a star or two.

This place is awesome! Sure it’s a little hole in the wall, and the insides may not be fancy looking, but seriously I love it. I always order the spicy shrimp noodles and chow mein. Spicy shrimp noodles taste just like the drunken noodles from the Thai place«sab e lee» in santee… awesome!!! And their chow mein is awesome! Love love it. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

I had never tried this place out before and was really curious when I saw that they served not only Chinese dishes, but Thai and Vietnamese as well… So I gave it a try and ordered some takeout for my family… Chen’s Golden Palace was… adequate. The SERVICE was good – both the man and woman who were working that evening were friendly… …PRICE was average… considering the place is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, they actually charge pretty much the same prices as many other(nicer and better tasting) casual Chinese restaurants… many dishes were around $ 8…add a few bucks for meat/seafood …QUANTITY was above average… but… TASTE/QUALITY was below average, which pretty much cancels out all of the preceding positive remarks.

Don’t eat at this place. I ordered the almond chicken and it was like they boiled the chicken in water and added a bag of frozen vegetable. No flavor and very over priced!

After a couple of very good meals of Thai food, and a couple of mediocre ones of Chinese food, we decided to try this restaurant one more time. Unfortunately, in trying to sell Phở, this restaurant has hit a wall. What came out was not Phở; it was beef ramen with some meat tossed in. When I pointed this out to the seller after taking only a couple of spoonfools of broth, she agreed to refund only half of my money, kept the food, and left me to go on my way. This restaurant has other issues, including the lack of a restroom, the fact that it is usually uncomfortably hot and stuffy, and the insistence on playing loud violent movies of some sort behind the counter with people screaming bloody murder. There is real Phở down the street at Phở Superbowl, and Chen is not a comfortable place to eat.

Tried them again and was even worse this time. How can you mess up orange chicken and fried rice. The rice was real dark brown like almost burnt looking and tasted as bad as it looked. There are way better chinese places to choose from. I will never be back.
