Friendly staff. Had the carne Asada plate. Carne was tasty but not special. Refried beans, salsa and homemade tortillas are excellent.

I’m so happy we stopped at this gem of a restaurant! We were traveling from San Diego to Phoenix and discovered this place on Unilocal.Every part of the dish was so simple and so flavorful. The beans are almost soupy, with a delicious taste and a hint of smokiness. The rice was divine. The enchiladas were tasty whether you tried red or green. The chicken had a rich flavor or roasted chicken without being greasy. The service was fantastic and I wish they had a location in San Diego! All Mexican restaurants in San Diego seem to be great taco shops or mediocre sit down restaurants. We need one of these in SD!

Let me just say I am barely feeling better today from eating the«Green Pozole» last Thursday! I was so sick all night with stomach pains… MYGI system has been severely destroyed. Seriously was ready to go to the ER. I finally just stayed in the fetal position and prayed the pain to get better. I was not able to eat crackers till today. Thank GOD I am a nurse. Also the service my sister and I received was so bad, I swear that the waitress did not want to work at all. Its is extremely embarrassing when you say” Good Morning” and there is no reply. Not even a hello or hi. No eye contact. I will let that one slide but what happened after our meals was beyond horrible. It was so bad of a wait to pay the check, I finally walked to the counter. I look back looking for some one to help me and realize that the other waitress had cleared all of my sisters food that we were going to take home! But what do they do? The waitress looks at us like it is our fault! I can’t believe it! Her face was irritated. She did not apologize what so ever. She realized that I was not going to leave without an explanation or apology. It was just a really bad experience. I truly have never been treated with such bad service. My sister insisted that we just leave, but I finally had the waitress make a fresh batch of chilaquiles in a to go box. Still no apology not even a «Have a nice day» as we walked out the door. I originally was so excited to come here due to all the great reviews but seriously… so disappointed! I wish I have asked for a refund. What a waste of money.

Pros: Delicious aguas fresca, food is amazing(green enchiladas, rolled tacos, soups, etc.), fast service. Cons: Hours of operation, no alcohol. Highly recommend Antojitos for Mexican food.

Very good Mexican restaurant! I go often to have lunch with my husband. I like that is fast, food is really delicious, great costumer service. My husband ask often to make changes to his order and they are happy with it. It is just awesome to have a place to feel like home.

Stopped in on our drive from Mexicali with a group for a late lunch. Unfortunately the lunch crowd had cleaned them out of their chicken enchiladas. I consider this a good sign, that they prepare them fresh and when they’re out well, you get the message. I had a combination of a tostada and a sopa with beans and rice. Everything was excellent. The beans are like none I’ve ever had and those alone are worth trying this place for. Everyone else enjoyed their lunch and the Pozole and Carne Asada got praises from those who ordered that.

Great family owned restaurant. Came on a Sunday morning and had carne en salsa and husband has chorizo con huevo. His had potatoes and they tasted just like my mom’s which is a huge compliment. The refried beans and rice were delicious. My dish was a daily special and was delicious. I live in Los Angeles and can say I would volunteer to come to Calexico just to eat here. I had the strawberry and guava water, delicious! The café de olla was also very good and not overly sweet since I don’t normally put sugar in my coffee. Café De olla already has sugar in it. Will be coming back the next time I have to come back to Calexico. I saw the other plates and the food also looked good. Décor was old Mexican movie themed except for an Italy apron and an Elizabeth Taylor picture. Very out of place but fine.

Was on the lookout for some Mexican soups and saw the high Unilocal reviews for this place and decided to give it a go. Luckily we visited on a Saturday so I was able to try the menudo. Heavenly. Not sure what they do to the tripe but it was amazingly tender. I daresay it was the best I’ve ever tasted. And the corn tortillas that came with it seemed made in house? If so, bonus points. Wife had the bowl of pork pozole. Big chunks of tender meat. Claims it was really good. The only knocks were the chips and salsa were just ok and the prices, like all prices in the valley it seems, are a tad high for Mexican food. Will not hesitate to visit this place again to try more menu items.

Bean and rice are the best! The pork pozole comes in 2 sizes, regular and XL. Regular one is already big for me. It’s little pricey but its totally worth it

If someone told me that I’d be reborn by way of beans and rice in El Centro California I’d have labeled them a nut case then asked: «where the heck is El Centro?». Being from Long Beach CA I know thing or two about Mexican food but not many restaurants pull it off like you’d get at home. Antojitos has reset the standard as a restaurant that truly taste like comida hogareña(home made food). The salsa is usually how I judge what’s to come and they didn’t dissapoint nor did the Agua fresco. Potato tacos… rice… beans… all real… soo full… but can’t stop eating…

First time to Antojito Como En Casa and it was not disappointed. They bring chips to your table with two bowls of salsa. The chips we good and tasted freshly made, but I was able to see them taking the chips out of a plastic back and place them in a warmer. I also wish our waitress warned us of how hot each of them were(mainly the red one) because I was taken completely by surprised. I ordered the Chilaquiles and it was delicious! The chips were topped with avocado, green/red onions and covered in sour cream all while still having a nice crunch to them. The beans were great and when proportioned with the rice and chips, absolutely amazing. I look forward to coming back and trying something else!

This place is the closest I have been of eating like I was in Mexico. The place is nice(seen it when I pick up my orders) the prices are OK(not amazing but fair) and the food is very good. I have ordered soups, tacos, and others and always have a smile after finishing my plate. I have looked for a similar experience with lower prices and I must say that have not found something even close; to me, this is the best value(price vs food)

Once again in this wonderful place where everything they make taste glorious this place is like flying into a little place in Mexico with authentic DELICIOUS tasting food beautiful music and the décor Pedro infante pictures of oldies but goodies in black and white Mexican movie stars. To me and my family this a little jewel.
