I got in touch with Kevin, thanks to those that sent me his number. He’s now at and says when Lucky’s reopoens under a new owner in May/June that he’ll work a few days in El Cerrito and a few days in Oakland a week.

Great place to get a haircut. Seems to be undergoing renovations. Anyone know if/when Kevin and Lucky will be back at this location?

Yes, they cut Asian hair! I’m Asian. This review is long over due. When I first moved into the area, I had a really hard time finding a new barber. I probably tried at least 4 different shops, all F’d my hair up. I will admit, my hair is pretty hard to fade. With that said, Lucky actually listened to me and did what I asked him to do. He delivered! It was a relief to find someone that I actually trust cutting my hair. The conversations him and Kevin have are hilarious too. It’s like getting a hair cut at a comedy show. It’s a win win situation.

Lucky has been cutting my hair for a while now, very talented and responsible man. Knows what he’s doing and every time I would ask him to do something with my hair he would leave me impressed because he exceeds my expectations, I’ve recommended him to uncles and many friends from my old school, and they like it very much. his price it’s just right for the work he gets done again the man has talent. Will always be coming to him. Good job lucky!

First time went here, I was impressed with the result. These guys are great and got exactly what I wanted. However, got disappointed the second time I visited. Seems like they just did a quick haircut since they have other customers waiting.

Both the Homies(Lucky and Kevin) in here get down. Me and the squad(my kids) get our combovers with Kevin. For you Dads that need to be in out with your badass kids bring them here.

I am writing this on behalf of Mr Rinky who got his hair cut here today. He has somewhat of a difficult time finding a barber who can cut his fine wavy hair. Seems simple enough but few barbers are able to do it well. Mr Rinky read the Unilocal reviews and decided to give Lucky’s Joint a try. He was super happy and satisfied with the results. Kevin spent a solid 20 minutes carefully and methodically giving him one of the BEST haircuts ever! He liked the neighborhood feel and the lively conversations between the barbers, the customers and some regular neighborhood folk some of whom just seem to come in to shoot the breeze. This is not a fancy joint and probably is too unhip for the Hipster crowd. What it is is a fantastic place where the barbers take their time to give you the best cut possible. Mr Rinky agrees with the other reviewers – LUCKY’S JOINT is a gem!!! He’ll definitely return!

No bells, no whistles, just a good old fashioned hole-in-the-wall barber shop. Lucky and Kevin are true experts at cutting your hair properly, and take their time doing it. I can’t recommend more.

Lucky’s Joint is a barber shop gem in the east bay. I’ve had cuts from both Lucky and Kevin in the past several months, both resulting in exactly what I was looking for at a good fair price. They are right off the El Cerrito Norte BART stop on San Pablo Avenue which is nice and easy to get to. They seem to have a diverse clientele which is a testament to their hair cutting versatility. Their professionalism, good nature, and attention to detail are a breath of fresh air in today’s world of apathetic customer service establishments. I can’t recommend these guys enough. If you need a great hair cut or beard trim and need the flexibility to make an appointment, I can’t encourage you enough to get them a try.

You know its a good barbershop when people compliment your hair! And Lucky Joint does not disappoint. I got in right after work(430ish) and waited about 10mins to be seated. Kev got bars, he takes his time getting that perfect cut, making sure everything’s even. I was not disappointed by the slightest and when I had to pay, man oh man was I surprised! Place was cheaper than most barbershop and costed me $ 18 for a taper! Be sure to add tip as well! Great place!

Recently I cut my hair into a mohawk and was looking for a dope barber to go to weekly. A friend told me about Lucky’s Joint so I decided to check them out. I went in without an appointment and was seated immediately by Kev. Let’s just say Kev is the man! I’m very picky about my sideburns and he handles my pickiness well. He’s very meticulous about his work, I wouldn’t go anywhere else! All around great barbers and atmosphere!

Since I moved to the area, I’ve been looking for a barber shop I can go to regularly and after trying out a few local places in the area Lucky’s Joint hands down is the best. I appreciate the fact that you can make an appointment which really convenient but Lucky spends a solid 30min on your haircut. Lucky does an amazing job with not only the clippers but the scissors as well.

Getting straight to it like always. This is a great establishment that has dedicated workers. The vibe here is like being in Cuba lol. No TV so that means you get to interact with your barber(which is a good thing). My boy KEVIN is the man hooked me up mannie fresh with the bald fade. Then hit em up with the razor line and finished it with a hot towel. Talk about customer service XD Well if you need a cut slide thru here.

I’ve been going to Lucky’s Joint for the past 8 years and I’ve never been disappointed. Always leaving that spot looking fresh to death. Perfect line ups and cuts!. I wouldn’t pick any other place. Always serving the best customer service with an awesome personality.

I’ve been getting cut here for 4 years. I won’t go anywhere else. One of the few shops where you can make an appointment. Good blend of an old-school barber shop and modern styles. I get a fade with a side part, and can rely on a consistently excellent result. Did I mention that I won’t go anywhere else?

I had been passing by this barbershop for quite sometime and decided to take my son there. It took several minutes to find a parking space so once I got one right in front of the store I felt like I hit the jackpot. It was a Friday afternoon and the shop was completely empty. Score! I thought, but I didn’t see a barber or anyone. Then, out from the back a man appeared. I told him I needed a haircut for my son. He told me he had an appointment coming in 45 minutes and he didn’t have enough time to cut my son’s hair. He suggested I come back in 2 hours or so. I shook my head and immediately walked out. I would not recommend this place ATALL. He obviously doesn’t want business.

The best high and tight in the East Bay… nice guy and a true professional barber. There are a lot of barbers out there but not many that actually know how to do a good fade. It is in a nondescript storefront so you have to know he’s there. Look for the barbershop pole.

First off his shop is in El Cerrito, I drive 1 ½ hours to see this man all the way from San Jose. Sure you can say there are local barbers that could probably do the work, but the keyword being PROBABLY. I don’t trust people with my hair, I’m very meticulous and the slightlest things erk me, bottom line, my brother in law showed me this place and I’ll never go anywhere else. First time around, his job was a 10⁄10. I got«shoelaces» and my facial hair has the hardest cowlick, I tried to explain to him and he only stared back at me, almost like he was looking through me. After my rant about my facial hair, he went back to cutting. I doubt he listened because he has his own style, which was spot on. I couldn’t believe it, a barber that has done it on the first try. Hats off to you LUCKY. Good conversation, good times, always good Latin music and always Lucky. P. S. Call and make an appointment, I do.
