Came here looking for some authentic Mexican food. And it certainly is authentic. Ordered menudo and steak and it was OK. Not the best steak or menudo Ive had, but it wasn’t the worst. The portions were a bit smaller than expected for the price. The ambience of the place was cool though. Very Alamo-esqe in the inside. So come if there is nothing else open but otherwise id go somewhere else.

Yuummm… didnt think much of it because its a small place but the actually ok inside. Could use a little fixing up but the customer service definitely takes the whole negativity of the place away. The ladies were super friendly, welcoming and attentive… but most importantly the food… it was bomb! Will try this place again.

To make it clear-NO CREDITCARDS accepted. That’s not a problem in my book we always carry a $ 20 just in case. Anywho, I ordered the Steak picado, and it was delicious! Juicy, flavorful, huge plate with salad, rice and beans! Huge portions, wonderful tasting food. The Steak Picado is juicy, flavorful and tender. The sauce is yummayy and very flavorful also, not too thick, not too thin. All in all, pretty darn good!

Really great food. La Barca was too crowded so I brought the parents here. They’re very picky and they loved it. Cash only.

Wow, I came here thanks to a friend, and I am so glad I did. Real home style Mexican food and the prices are so affordable thank you El Taquito for the best Mexican food here in El Monte.

I’ve never eaten here, but I ordered to go. I love their PAZOLESOUP. It’s very well made and just the perfect dish when it’s cold. Do be aware that they are CASHONLY even though their page says it takes card. I had to run down the street to an ATM, but it was worth it. That soup hits the spot! ENJOY!

Came here after a long hike with a friends — had a carne asada wet burrito($ 6.29) along with an al pastor and carnitas taco($ 1.35 /taco). It was delicious. Prices are pretty cheap and they give you chips + salsa when you sit down. The salsa is pretty spicy, but it was pretty good. Beware that it’s cash only. Had to have my friends cover for me since Unilocal said it accepted credit cards.

Solid 4 stars. Came in for lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon. There was only one server, Ruby, working and she was busy serving and bussing tables. I ordered three different tacos and my partner ordered a wet carnitas burritos with green sauce. Ruby brought us whole tostada chips with a red and a green salsa. The tostada chips seemed like they were baked because they weren’t oily at all. The salsas were good, but spicy! My three tacos were good and hot. My partners burrito was delicious. One thing I noticed is that they don’t leave you a bill. You just have to go to the register and pay. Cash only BTW. Very reasonably priced lunch. Next time you’re passin’ thru Valley Blvd, be sure to stop by.

First time here, excellent customer service, the carne asada and carnita tacos were great. The sopes were also a hit. The carne asada plate with rice, beans and salad was more than enough food and yummy. The horchata was delicious! Prices are reasonable. Will definitely come back!

WORST burrito I’ve ever had in my entire life! I had the cabeza and it tasted like straight up fat. I will never eat here again. You’ve been warned!

Pros: One of those don’t judge a book by its cover type place. The outside façade doesn’t do the inside any justice. Great salsas. Ordered a sope, which came in two, and was probably best sope I’ve had. Sorry King taco, but it’s hard to beat fresh hand made sopes. However, the Al pastor is still better at King taco and that is why this place gets the 4 star. Really, you need the trombo to get that five star. Cons: Nada

Had high hopes for this spot because if you’re gonna grab Mexican food in a high in the hole, then you expect it to be super damn authentically good. I got my carne asada burrito wet, which apparently they’re known for but that didn’t save the inside from being dry dry dry. Apart from the ingredients inside the burrito being dry and not flavorful, the sauce on the top didn’t do much for me either. It was bland and I just didn’t enjoy the flavor of it. It was a weird musky tomato taste that sort of lingered in your mouth. Boyfriends carnitas burrito was better but it wasn’t amazing or anything. Red hot sauce is FIRE so beware.

Best authentic Mexican burrito I’ve ever had at least a long time! Delicious, the sauce is excellent, and a horchata is phenomenal. Staff is extremely friendly and price is affordable, food is delivered quickly. Highly recommended!

This is more like a 3.5 star review. I came here for lunch on whim as I was waiting around for a business client and I got hungry. The place is small but very clean and nicely decorated. There is ample parking at the side of the business and service was good. There wasn’t many people so I snagged a table at the back to charge my phone. There were two men in there arguing about baby mama’s…that always makes for a fun lunch! lol Instead of chips and salsa they give you tostadas and salsa which earns a star on its own. I ordered two carne asada tacos and two al pastor. They were small in size but they were filling. Here is the reason I didn’t score them higher. I can’t believe I am about to say this but I finally found a taco I didn’t like. Their carne asada was just NOTGOOD. It had this weird aftertaste so I ended up leaving most of it behind. At the other side of the spectrum, their pastor was REALLYGOOD! Maybe I came on an off day? Either way, I would come back because I think the positives outweighed the negative(I’ll just steer away from the asada!) and I am always in that hood so why not?

Solid 3.5 stars. Went to El Taquito with my supervisor. We were both famished and I just can’t say no to Mexican food. El Taquito has a small parking lot that can prolly fit about 10 – 12 cars comfortably. It’s by residential area so I don’t think parking will be a huge issue here. The décor is reminiscent of hole in the wall places. The cashier that took our order was super nice. She recommended us their popular dishes. My supervisor got the daily special(wet burrito) and I got myself an al pastor burrito. Both our food came out in timely manner. The portion size is pretty big. Al pastor was marinaded pretty well. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but it was solid indeed. The burrito also had lots of meat, so they don’t really skimp out on the meat. My supervisor’s wet burrito was a hit with him. He gulfed it down and raved about how spicy but good it was. He did mention that the wet burrito didn’t have enough cheese on the outside but oh well. I think together total was about $ 13 which is very reasonable. I would definitely come back here next time I’m in the area.

Yummy Mexican food for cheap! I got the Asada Burrito for a little over 5 bucks, and it was huge! Luckily I am a big eater and finished the whole thing. But boy was it good. I would come back again for more! Oh, they serve alcohol here too! Sweet!

Cute place with friendly service. Ordered tacos, asada burrito and queso queasadilla. Tacos($ 1.25 each): I got asada, lengua, carnitas and cabeza. They are okay. Asada burrito($ 5.79): tastier than the tacos. Queso queasadilla($ 2.99): I like cheesy anything. Complimentary chips & salsa. El Taquito is almost yummylicious!

El Taquito is one of my fave Mexican restaurants. With it being very close to my work I come here 2 to 3 times a week! They do have a small menu but their dishes taste like home cooked meals. I also must say the plates are very inexpensive! I usually get the carne Asada which is under ten bucks. The owner, Martin treats all his customers as if they are family. Always look forward to coming to El Taquito!

Amazing find! Such a friendly, warm and inviting family owned restaurant. Food was incredible both in taste and portion size(all made fresh)! I had the al pastor combination plate-you must experience this flavorful dish and how tender the meat is. Definitely making an effort to come back here frequently as possible
