Enjoy coming to this place. The owner is very friendly, the service might take a little bit but that’s because everything is made to order, the wait is also well worth it. The fried shrimp is good, it has a crunchy batter, and the shrimp is tender and moist, but the ribs on gravy fries is amazing. The ribs are tender and flavorful, the gravy tastes really good, the fries might get soggy but it’s still delicious.

I had been going to the one on Whittier near Soto for years. We moved to San Gabriel a few years ago and just recently we found out about Johnny’s on Peck Road. All I have to say is that this location is BETTER by far than the one in East LA! I know its the same restaurant but for some reason the food tastes better here. The eating area is spotless and the service is top notch. If you’re in the area, you’ve got to try it out.

This place is good. The fried shrimp and fish are pretty tasty although the batter is a bit heavy. I really wanted to like the rice with beans and gravy, but it was very bland. I tried their chili on rice and that was MUCHBETTER. The chili is actually very good. I checked in and the guy working the register said I could get chili fries or a shrimp taco. I opted for the shrimp taco. Unfortunately that wasn’t very good. The shrimp was good, but everything else was meh. The guy working the register was super friendly and helpful and the restaurant was very clean. I really wanted to love this place, but it’s just ok. I probably won’t be back. I really wanted to like it more and be able to support a local business.

The owner is so nice!!! Excellent food and customer service!!! Free chilli cheese fries when you check in and i asked for pastrami on top of it and he didn’t charge me extra and also gave a free drink. Also got short ribs with chilli on top, which was delicious. Short ribs was really soft and its so good with the chilli. Fish taco was huge and very good. Everything was delicious. Will definitely be back to try other food.

I love this place! What a super nice owner and on top of it he offered a great short ribs and chili on rice. My new go-to comfort food! Nicely seasoned with a balanced blend of chili spices. Also, the short rib is sooooo tender! Can’t wait for the chili cheese fries and battered fried fish.

Been eating Johnny shrimp boat for years. It’s always a great taste, good portions. Love the shrimp and short ribs, so soft and tasty with tons of delicious beef gravy.

One of a kind menu. This chain had been around for decades! Fried shrimp and gravy over fries or rice is the classic! Free chili fries with a check in!

Definitely my favorite spot when I crave fish. I usually get the fish and shrimp combo with the rice beans and gravy, it’s so great. I still have yet to try everything else. But from what I have tried, I haven’t been disappointed.

Excellent service and delicious food! The woman at the cash register was very pleasant and welcoming. Great prices considering the generous portion sizes. Would definitely recommend for quick lunch stop

They use entirely too much batter for the size shrimp they use. I wasn’t impressed at all and it was too greasy if your not health cautious than this might be the place for you to eat

I got a 4 piece fish and chips with 2 pieces of shrimp. I also got a large unsweetened iced tea. The fish seems to be cod. It is battered to perfection and is crispy yet firm. I have yet to have a bad piece of fish, all of it is flaky white meat. The shrimp are fried so well that you can eat the tails. Feel like lounging inside and watch tv while you order? Feel lazy and don’t want to leave your car? They have a drive-through! Friendly workers. The french fries are your standard fries, not too crispy, not too firm. Free refills on the tea(yay!) and if you check in, you get a free taco!

It was my first time here. The staff are nice. We order tacos. They have fish, shrimp, chicken, and beef. They were cheap and the portion were big(it’s not those small tacos). Also, you get a free fish taco with a check in! Kudos.

If you knew johnnys shrimp boat from the old days in DTLA the temple city then Covina chasing around their deep fried unique battered shrimp balls — well now you can find them in El Monte on peck road. And even better they have a drive thru still! They moved into an old Taco Bell building as you will recognize the Adobe colored walls and arches. Over 40 years and they are still cranking out their signature battered shrimp along with their rice and beans gravy on top of white rice along with their red hot sauce to dip into(a concoction of Louisiana OT sauce and Asian chili sauce). They still have their short ribs and pork chops as well. Now they added bowls, tacos and burgers too. Plus pastrami fries! The building may look a little ghetto as an old Taco Bell with graffitti’d up restrooms but the area is pretty safe. It looks like this bldg was just vacant for the longest time in which is was thrashed by kids. But johnnys has made it a great spot for fried shrimp and fish again! the shrimp is still the same!

Formerly Krazy Dog and before that a Taco Bell, I noticed this place recently opened. I tried the 2 fish, 2 shrimp plate with rice, beans, and gravy. Pretty good deal at $ 5.89(not including tax). Rice & beans with gravy: so-so, nothing special about the gravy. They use regular white rice. Shrimp: too much batter for my liking Fish: my favorite part of the plate. I particularly liked the brown, really crispy parts of the fish. Chicken teriyaki bowl: pretty filling for $ 3.95 and not bad considering only veggies added are green peppers and onions. I wasn’t familiar with Johnny’s Shrimp Boat, but apparently this is the newest branch. I’ll be back to try other items on their menu.
