Born and raised in Hawaii and found this place. Portions are awesome and food is decent. Restaurant is a bit filthy though. I would recommend just getting take out and enjoying your food at home or in the parking lot. Coming back for sure because it’s the only one on the east side!

This is much better than the food in Hawaii we had in Hawaii during our Christmas vacation. Great job in keeping our palates happy and the servings are not stingy.

I usually get the meat combo/plate… I forgot what it’s called… But it comes with 2scoops rice, 1scoop macaroni salad, and bbq chicken, bbq beef and a rib… I think it was 8.99. I live 5 mins away. When I opened the takeout container, there was steam flowing out and it smelled so good. The meat was hot and juicy right off the grill… Or whatever they use. Under the meat, there was cabbage. It was also steaming hot and it was soaked with the meat juices… Mm it was delish. The rice was really good too. Not just your average Chinese restaurant tasting white rice… It was sweet… I think they add rice vinegar. The only thing that wasn’t that great was the macaroni salad. It was macaroni, mayo, tiny shredded pieces of carrots and salt and pepper. It needed something more. Coconut haupia was good, but after eating half of it, it became too overwhelming(empalagoso).

Walking in, you can see these cute hand painted flowers on the walls and festive menu. My boyfriend and I went right before dinner time and there was no wait. We ordered the chicken katsu and for it being my first time there, I enjoyed it quite a bit. The katsu was crunchy and the sauce was sweet and tangy. I would definitely recommend this place to those who lookin for a Hawaiian getaway in El Paso, TX.

When I’m in the mood for katsu or BBQ short ribs, I drop by this place. The food is actually pretty decent. Good enough for me to come back, but not good enough to bring out of town guests to. Be prepared to wait though, probably not the ideal place if you’re in a rush. You can call in ahead though. What I do love about this place is the portions. Every time I eat here, I just barely finish my meal. For the price they charge, you’d expect much less. One thing to note is their sauces are extremely diluted. Surely a cost saving method. I’m used to the katsu sauce being thick, but since it’s watered down, the flavor isn’t all there. Be cautious when you use the pump for the sauces, if you don’t do it slow enough, it WILL splash all over you. All in all, it’s a pretty good place and I’ll continue to come back.

My husband took me here to be funny because I just came from Hawaii. Lol. I ordered their chicken katsu(I love chicken katsu) and my husband got the Mahi Mahi. Good amount of tables and cute drawings on the wall. Honestly, the wait was looooong. There was a line building up already. The guy behind me waited longer cause he actually called in, but still had to wait. I guess because there was only one cook at the time. Their drink/condiment table needed to be cleaned. They were out of ketchup already(time was like 10am) and the soy sauce container was sticky and stained from not wiping the nozzle and the sjde of the container down. Tables felt sticky on the side as well. My husband’s food was awesome and crunchy! But my chicken katsu was stale and not so crunchy. Two of the chicken katsu was burnt. it tasted like pork instead of chicken(and I know the taste because I’m an island girl). I would have complained but didn’t get to eat this until I came home. I don’t think I’ll be returning soon.

We were in the area and decided to try this restaurant. The food was good but we waited 40 minutes for two small meals. The tables were all very dirty and the table with all of the sauces was a mess.

Well, where do I start? I recently moved here from Hawaii, so I wad in the mood for a local style plate lunch. I did not get what I had hoped for. I ordered the Seafood combo(mahi mahi, shrimp, and short rib), and my wife had the chicken katsu. My shrimp had so much batter that they were completely raw and mushy inside(gross). Mahi mahi and short rib were decent, but the picture showed two short ribs, and I only got one super thin one. At about ten bucks for the meal, I expected better. My wife’s chicken katsu was below average at best, with the breading being done properly, but the pieces of chicken too big(should be cut thinner). Mac salad super bland, now after spending twenty dollars, I need to go have dinner again!

I love the food here, it’s different from any other restaurant that I’ve been to. I love the chicken katsu, bbq chicken, mahi mahi, fried shrimp. They are all very flavorful and full filing for sure. Only criticism I have is the environment, it’s whatever I’d rather take my food to go but I do hate taking all their little delicious sauces to go. West side one though Is pretty filthy, I guess cuz it’s ran by a bunch of young dudes. Anywho food is good!

I would not recommend this place, service took 45 minutes for our take out and it wasn’t even crowded. They burnt the Kalbi and some of the meat on the mixed plate, Mac salad was average. They place a boiled cabbage under the bbq meat and chicken Katsu which makes no sense(shredded raw cabbage maybe but not boiled) counters & tables were sticky & dirty. Fruit flies by condiments. Nasty food

If u are into friedboots then this place is for you I ordered some chicken and shortly thereafter realize that my body was going to reject it all in 321 but the food was really good they are known for their fish and I believe in Hawaii he a fry a lot of things the menu sticks to pretty traditional stuff and like I said if you are from Hawaii and want your stuff deep-fried this may or may not be the place for you.

We were actually very surprised there was a Hawaiian Joint here! Nonetheless, pretty good, huge portions, and as good as you can get in ELP. Nothing on L&L back home, but still hit the spot. We ordered the spam masubis and chicken katsu(which came with both rice and and macaroni salad). We have also been here and ordered the family meals and had the chicken katsu, kalua pork, and the bbq beef, this was enough to feed our family of 4(2 adults &2 kids) and had plenty of left overs.

Great food at a good price. I come here for lunch especially for their specials and one plate will basically fill me up for the rest of the day. I recommend the BBQ chicken and chicken katsu for lunch. If you are really hungry, come get your grub at this place.

My family loves coming to this place. We usually order take out, but the only reason I’m giving the place 4 stars is because the interior could use some updating. Fans are running in the restaurant because it’s really hot inside. The portion sizes are great. Owner is super friendly and the staff never gets our orders wrong. We usually order chicken bbq(FAVORITE!) We’ve tried the kalua pork, chicken katsu, and short ribs(ribs often have too thin of meat). Spam and chicken musubi is very flavorful and if you’re looking for desert try the banana lumpia because it’s definitely delicious. They also sell the famous hawaiian sun canned drinks!

Think of this place as a L&L(a famous BBQ restaurant in Hawaii), except in the desert with less items on their menu. Aloha BBQ has two locations here in El Paso, one in the east and the other on the west. The food is good enough, it’s not like back home. The Kalua pork is tasty, I love the cabbage they put on top. Chicken Katsu is also on point it’s one of my favorite dish to eat at this place. When it comes to BBQ though, I think the Teri beef is the only dish worth trying. BTW, they also have Hawaiian sun juice just like back home.

I’m a big fan of this place! The BBQ Chicken had always been a favorite of mine, until I recently decided to try the Kalua pork, which was just heavenly, so tender, and juicy, and delicious! Now I get them both in a combo plate :) Their portions are pretty generous too, plenty of meat, a lot of the entrees served over steamed cabbage(which I love!), and some macaroni salad(which I never eat, dunno how it tastes, I just don’t eat mayo). I’m also a fan of their Spam Musubi, which could be a meal onto itself, but also a great appetizer if you’re really hungry. This is a great takeout restaurant, kinda dive-y for dine-in, but don’t judge them on that. I posted a menu in the pictures and suggest you check them out!
