It is what it is… a good place with decent music to get a cheap beer and watch a game. Fun dive bar and a good place to relax. Great way to spend a Saturday watching college football with friendly bartenders and great service. The question is… who is the old guy on the photos all over the walls haha?

We walked in and when they noticed me and my girlfriend, they said that they were closing. I had a feeling it was some form of discrimination but said nothing and took their word for it. When we left, we noticed the bartender pouring a drink. They close at two and they lied about their hours of operation. Never going back and I recommend no one go. They have no respect and are dishonest with their business practices.

I’m definitely a fan of Hemingway’s, it is hands down my favorite bar in the Cincinnati area and I’ll tell you why: I’m at that age when I’m realizing I’m a little old for the Cincinnati area but my friends have yet to fully arrive at such realization(don’t tell them I said that). So Hemingway’s is the bar that isn’t trying to be a dance club and I love that because I love being able to carry conversations, that’s what happens when you’re interesting, like Ernest Hemingway, or me. They still got the jukebox and the music is loud, just not overwhelmingly so. Beer and drink selection is okay, they’ve got the basics well covered, but probably not the place to try to be a snob, which goes great with it’s unpretentious vibe. Bartenders are friendly, there’s plenty of tables, and the restrooms are clean.

Good selections of beers. I would go there on a weeknight rather than the weekend — the weekend gets a bit too crowded for me.

Hemmingway’s has gone through some drastic re-branding throughout the years, and the last time I was here, its seemed to have settled upon its original roots as a theme. Its a typical beer-bar, with some good specialty beers and interesting imports in bottle, that you would see in any college town. The addition of live music is pretty odd since everyone is tightly squeezing their $ 200 jean asses into the bar. Plus, their house band pretty much sucks. This place tries very diligently to be 6th Street-esque, which is perfectly fine. College towns need bars like Hemmingway’s and I’ve certainly had my fair share of rowdy times in them. But places like this need to keep their demographic consistent, so if you are 31 or older, i would probably avoid this place altogether.

nice little local bar. decent tap selection. the manager was a bully though, and their carbombs on st patty’s were a total rip off.
