This place has a nice chill atmosphere. Service ia nice all the bartender’s where nice, although I ordered an Old Fashion and they served it with a bunch of ice. The ambiance was nice and I like the patio.

Hope and Anchor is a solid, go-to, neighborhood bar. They have a huge outdoor patio that is dog friendly. The service is typically pretty good. Very respectable beer selection and they make good cocktails. You can order food from Sabertooth next door, by flagging down one of the food servers and have it delivered to Hope. The crowd is fairly diverse for El Paso; typically a decent place to find the few young professionals in this town. It’s a good spot for happy hour and great for some weekend day drinking.

This is probably one of the best bars in El Paso to have a good time. Food is good, drinks prices are ok, and atmosphere is great nothing can go wrong. This is a place to hang out with friends in a relaxing atmosphere, they have a nice patio area. Servers are usually really busy so if you visit the place on a Saturday it might take a while to grab a beer.

I’ve come here several times. The place is almost always too packed to mingle comfortably inside and the drinks are subpar. The bartenders always seem to have an attitude. Don’t get the hype. There are other bars similar in ambience that serve better booze in El Paso…

This place has an awesome courtyard you can hang out and drink in. Really cool atmosphere and nice people who work there. This place can get crowded but it’s all good fun. Try this place!

Very cool spot. Fantastic art on the wall and a great outdoor sitting area that is about twice the size of the bar area. They also bring food in from the restaurant next door

Asked for k1 tini up with a twist of lemon. Nermal brought 3 large olives then tried to squeeze a huge lemon wedge into the fouled up 1st attempt. Oh well there is always hope for those afflicted with head up their assedness. Check it out!!! Not but 5 minutes after I posted this uncle lurch(owner???) tossed and broke some mope’s drink. Then Cassandra the twinky bartender remade the tini with olives

Great place! First time here, while visiting El Paso. Stopped here and had a few drinks. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and some really good looking people. Nice place to socialize and meet many locals. They had a section to order and eat food. I wish I would have tried it, but definitely next time! I will definitely be coming back, when I’m in El Paso.

Only been here a couple times on the weekend. Very chill place. Outdoor patio style bar. Bartenders make excellent drinks. Their Moscow mule is pretty good. It is a little annoying that they require your driver’s license when you get their copper mugs(I guess its a high theft item). Not a great place if you are solo as the bar area is really only walk-up only and finding a seat for one can be a pain. Hope and Anchor is ideal for small groups. Haven’t tried the food from sabertooth yet(which is next door) but will certainly give it a try. Parking can be a pain if you get there later. College kids show up around 1030 and it gets busy.

I’ve been coming here for years, now. I’m not so much a regular, but the bartenders do recognize me when I sit down at the bar. It’s nice to see Phil(a longtime bartender here) and chat with him in between my hiatuses. I gotta tell you, this is a fantastic chill spot, with great music and a very relaxed crowd/atmosphere. The drinks they make are top-notch, with many of the mixes they use made fresh, in-house. These mixes are fantastic. They make every drink here unique, from those haphazardly thrown together at many other local bars. And these drinks are reasonably priced, with daily drink specials. Of particular note is ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’, where you custom order a bloody Mary with a huge variety of choices, and they bring you a grilled cheese sandwich with every drink. Too cool. The restaurant Sabertooth is next door, and you can order Sabertooth food at the bar, and the restaurant will bring it over to you. The staff here is great and can make you ANYTHING you order, and make it correctly… so that you really enjoy your drinks. With great service, ingredients, music, ambiance and vibe, this is a no-brainer for 5 stars. I love this place and will continue to be a loyal patron of their delicious bibations.

Great bar. Loved the feel. I loved the drink prices. The mango chili margarita was great and so was the watermelon margarita. I’d recommend go with a group and go early to get a table, it gets extremely crowded after 11 pm.

I’ve heard a lot of people say this but i believe it is true: Hope and Anchor is the best bar to pretend you’re not in El Paso. That’s what keeps me going back. They’re bartenders are no joke. They have a lot of knowledge and will definitely help you when you don’t know what you wanna drink but have a certain flavor in mind. I say that from experience because this was the first bar i visited when i turned 21. The nautical theme is awesome and it definitely creates a relaxing atmosphere. I’ve always tried their featured and specialty drinks of the day like the watermelon margarita but I enjoy having a bloody mary. Their outside patio is unmatched with a mixture of an outside bar, picnic tables, and high bar tables and chairs. They also have a koi pond with a waterfall. This is the type of place you go after work with friends to relax. Be warned! This place by 11pm gets pretty packed so if you wanna get a table get there early. I refer to Hope and Anchor as my «home base» since I’m here all the time. Check it out for yourself!

Great place for a large group later in the evening or a smaller party earlier in the day. Sundays are Bloody Mary and Bloody Caesar days and you can make your own and get a grilled cheese sandwich

We drove 8 hours from San Antonio and we’re looking for a good Moscow Mule and a relaxing vibe. This place fit the bill 100%. Like all good bars don’t be fooled by the outside — in fact we almost left. The inside has a very roomy patio with lots of different seating, a cool breeze, water feature and nice music. It reminded me of Rainey in Austin. If you order from the Sabertooth next door get the Mac it was delish! Oh yes and the Moscow Mules were good.

A bar that’s one of a kind in the el paso area. It was cool before it got cool. Too many people dressing up just to go to a bar where originally no one gave a poop about what you’re wearing. Just there for good brews and good people. Friday’s and Saturdays Jamm Packed. Sabertooth next door has some really good grub. Like I mentioned, People dressing up and being overly pretentious kind of kills it a bit. I still like the bar very much, but I will admit I like it more when It’s dead on any given weekday + Sunday — Friday. So 4 stars.(My rating shouldn’t matter, it’s already a well known hit in the EP) Like I hinted… I loved it before it was a hit. I have my other EP spots now. :)

Hope and Anchor is one of those hidden blessings for El Paso. This place was way ahead of the trend providing craft cocktails before it became a mass hit within the city. Since they first opened their doors a couple years back, I have always made this place a go-to during my trips back home. The environment is very laid back and open-armed. This isn’t the place to come find some heavy bumping club music with a dance floor. Nope– H&A is all about providing an environment for those who want to spend quality time with their friends and family with BACKGROUND music. We all know how super annoying it can be at times when you have to compete with the music to talk to your friends. They have indoor seating which is limited in space but that is honestly not a bad thing as their major focus, in my eyes, is their amazing outdoor patio. The outside patio is like their secret weapon– open, inviting, and tons of room to walk around and catch up with people. I love coming here during the summer time, which is like 9 months, here in El Paso because of their patio. They have outside heaters and plenty of seating during the winter so don’t fret. I must say the parking issue can be a little annoying at times but that is my only major downfall of the place. This is the place to come and have a great time creating some memories, you may or may not remember. *I actually just came back from a trip to my hometown and I was really impressed with Amanda’s bartending skills. She pretty much knew every drink I was throwing at her and was super friendly and professional. Hopefully El Paso realizes how awesome she is because I came across multiple places who weren’t aware of certain drinks I was asking for.

Welp, can’t say I’m too impressed in my first visit here. I have been trying to spread my visits to the newer places here during my third visit to El Paso. I had read about this place, and had been excited. Reading through some of the previous comments, I had some pretty high hopes for the locale. Here are my initial impressions, firstly, they do not have a drink menu. Which sucks. A place like this should have a twist on some classics or even a different take on some of the alcohol offerings. Make it a different place than your run of the mill bars. The draft beer selection, at least today kinda sucked. Nothing you couldn’t get at your local supermarket, so that kind of Knicks out the craft beer crowd. Next would be the food service. So… They have an arrangement with another company, I guess, that serves their food. I looked at the menu, and besides a burger, you’ve got some twists on regular local offerings. Not too bad I suppose. I ordered the pulled pork torta and homemade chips. The sandwich was tasty. A bit messy, which may or may not be a bad thing, pending your tastes. Sucked the waiter forgot to bring me utensils, but Thats minor. The barkeep brought some out to me. The chips left a lot to be desired. They were soggy with the oil they were cooked in. I was hoping for crispy chips, but the only ones that fit that bill were a couple of the burnt ones.(Maybe I should have specified?) What ticked me off was that I was sitting at the outside bar. I saw the previous reviews that spoke of the pungent smells indoor(spot on) and figured despite it being a little cold, I could weather the weather with a couple of beers and warm right up with the food. Well, as I was eating, some fella that worked there, who sported a high top or whatever, sparks up a cigarette, behind the bar, but outside, irregardless of the fact that I am eating. Now, I just came from Cali, so maybe my sensitivity to this type of stuff is a bit much, as they actually have firing squads waiting for you at the door of you were to pull this kind of stunt, but I don’t think it’s too much to expect the help to consider a patron’s eating experience and bearing the cold a bit if the nicotine itch is too much to handle. In layman’s terms, I didn’t appreciate the cigarette smoke included in my lunch. All in all, not the best of experiences. Maybe my expectations were a bit high, but I’ve had better experiences at nearby establishments. I’ll give this place another chance, during another time, but two stars is what it earned for me. ** had to edit as I forgot to talk about the ambiance. Pluses for the music selection, the décor, and the patio. Really liked what the patio could be. Wish the rest of what I reviewed would live up to the décor. Names of the place and all made this place intriguing.

My love for moonshine can only be fulfilled at one place in El Paso* and I’ve come to the realization either my tolerance for alcohol is higher than all of my friends or I’m just much more composed. It may be a combination of both. After some trial and error, I’ve come to the conclusion under no circumstances do you EVER take your drunk-off-moonshine(or buzzed) friends to a club. The only safe place to take them is… Hope and Anchor. After you spend a few minutes circling the parking lot and almost being rear-ended, you’ll decide to park in the next door parking lot(the left side, never the right). You’ll walk to Hope and Anchor and on the left you’ll see the word«Bar» and on the right«Food». «Oh, okay… bar food, I get it.» Wrong! There is a bar and there is food, not to be confused with a bar that sells food or a restaurant that sells alcohol. Continuing on with our journey into the unknown… The outside may leave you feeling confused, maybe even frightened. «Am I in the right place,» you’ll ask yourself. «Where is everybody?» And a gaggle of 20-something females and one male will emerge from a gate you hadn’t noticed before. «Was that there before?» Approach the gate with caution and your handy I.D. A man sitting down will take your I.D. as you question, «Am I going crazy? How did I not see him until two seconds ago?» You’re not going crazy, you’ve just entered into the hidden world of H&A! H&A is like the house parties you used to go to in high school and college except the beer won’t run out, you can get a drink made with top shelf liquor, there’s food next door, and you won’t step in any dog poop. So nothing like the house parties you used to go to. I typically like to be outside on the patio or under the wooden cabana because the inside tends to be stuffy and generally crowded. I like to stretch my legs, man. And not have to do something that resembles two-stepping every time someone decides they need to stand somewhere else(usually directly behind or in front of me, closing in on the gaps I so carefully created to give my self an adequate amount of fresh oxygen as opposed to the already breathed, a.k.a. recycled, air that fills a majority of the room because of the densely populated areas… I digress). Everything that’s inside is outside too except you know, it’s outside. Drinks are made fairly well and at a decent price. Staff is great, but weekends tend to be packed so be prepared for a small wait. They’re pretty fast though and don’t be afraid to just start ordering once you get a bartenders attention(chances are the guy standing beside you at the bar is doing just that, standing beside you at the bar). And apparently a lot of friendships are made in the H&A bathrooms. I wouldn’t know personally, but I do see a lot of two men going in as strangers and emerging life long friends. There’s something in the water, I’m sure of it. When you and your friends have had enough to drink, hop into Sabertooth Food and grab some mac ‘n cheese, fries, hot chocolate, strawberry pound cake, and a portobello burger. *You can get moonshine at Pint & Peanut, but H&A is where it’s at. Memories are made at H&A and you’ll feel right at home.

I really like this place, but I don’t think I can show my face here anymore. Let’s just say— I danced by myself in the middle of the patio. It wasn’t a sexy/attractive dance, it was a combination of the Chicken dance and the Disco. This is why my friends can’t take me anywhere. Although, I really wish I didn’t do that, because it’s such a cute place. In my defense, their drinks are hella cheap! I spent $ 20 on FOUR mixed drinks. FOUR! In Atlanta, four mixed drinks would cost you $ 45 and an arm. Because it was so cheap, my friends kept buying shots after shots after shots… Did I mention I’m never drinking again? This bar may be a bit difficult to find. Just look for a big sign that says BAR. And then when you look a little closer, you’ll see the Hope & Anchor sign. The bar is split in two– indoor section and a spacious outdoor patio, with 2 bars outside and 1 bar inside. There are several heaters on the patio so the outdoors remain warm even during the winter times. So don’t let the winter chill deter you from drinking! ;) Chill place, affordable drinks, good place to spend your Saturday night! But don’t look for me here… I mean, I will come back– just not as myself. I will be wearing a wig and I will respond to Susan, to change my identity. Love, Susan.
