I ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad. It took about 20+ minutes to arrive. It was fresh and pretty good. The Chicken was very good. The waitress was attentive and nice and skilled I would say. The price was a bit more than usual($ 17). It was slow as it was a Thursday afternoon so I’m not sure why it took so long. The atmosphere was laid back and comfortable as the booths were large and spacious. Overall it was an ok experience.

It is really the worst one, but we have to since it is the only restaurant here. $ 29 only got about 6 small pieces of over cooked beef! You can’t imagine it…

Located in the Embassy Suites LAX South, it was either here or a 10 minute UBER ride in search of a late meal. Pretty good choice. Service was ok, multiple waiters came to check on us ensuring we were satisfied. Ordered the black bean burger, it was actually quite savory. No condiments needed. Waffle fries were crisp and ketchup nice and sweet. Only drawbacks were my soda and the price. A little pricey but it’s to be expected?

Despite the fact that this is the hotel’s only option for dining, other than their complimentary breakfast, it is pretty good. This may be a biased review because I arrived here after 18 hours of travel and was just happy to be out of the airport/plane, but they took great care of my sister and I. The ambiance is swanky, with nice dim mood lighting and a beautiful bar. They had several tv’s for sports fans and various seating if you don’t feel like posting up at the bar. Be sure to check the large chalkboard, which is to the left of the bar, for drink specials and soup of the day. They were featuring an asparagus soup, which a fellow patron was raving about, but I never tried. I saw that they had a watermelon margarita on special so I got it. It tasted incredibly refreshing, but I didn’t like the sugar rim. I asked the bartender to switch it over to salt, and he did it no problem. It made the drink a hundred times better, so I highly recommended asking for a salted rim instead. They had a pretty limited menu which included a few apps, salads, and mains. I decided to get the mahi tacos since I was about to kick off my trip to Hawaii. I asked the bartender where the fish was from, but he wasn’t sure. When the tacos arrived, they looked delicious, covered with beautiful bright green avocado slices and drizzled with an orange creamy sauce. However, I was extremely disappointed with the flavor. I couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong with them, but they had a really greasy texture to them. The fish was virtually flavorless as well. I was famished so I ate one, and left the other two. My server, Jose, noticed that I didn’t touch the other two and had pushed the plate to the side so he asked me what was wrong. I explained to him that I just really didn’t like them and would like to order something else. He was very accommodating and said I wouldn’t have to pay for the tacos. Anyone who knows me, knows that I HATE wasting food, so for me to send something back hardly ever happens. I ordered the pan roasted chicken, served with mushrooms and potatoes. This was such a good choice! The skin of the chicken was perfectly crispy, with tender juicy meat on the inside. The veggies were cooked In a delicious sauce, and the mushrooms had a nice meaty texture. I had also asked the bartender if I could move from the bar to a table because there was some drunk debauchery taking place, and he found me a nice quiet corner table. He continued to serve me, while also tending the bar, which was very sweet. His name was Jose De La Cruz, and he provided 5 star service, making me want to come back again! Overall, this is a pretty good place, and I will be back if I stay at this hotel again. Ask for Jose! He might be behind the bar, so find yourself a nice bar seat and order yourself a refreshing watermelon margarita :)

Was here for business and 1440 Bistro is pretty much the only option for dining when you’re short on time. It is the Embassy’s only restaurant/bar and unless you want snacks from their gift shop, it is your best bet. At lunch time during a weekday, they were completely short staffed. It was a complete ghost town. We had to wait several minutes before someone showed up to take orders. I had the Fish and Chips. They were unremarkable despite the Bistro wrapping it in faux British newspapers. The total was $ 20.44. Way too pricey for average fish and chips. Service otherwise was fine once they got it together but again everything takes a long time to happen whether that’s them taking orders or serving the food. No way should their menu be that expensive but they are price gouging knowing they are the only game in town. Otherwise you’re forced to buy a $ 6 coffee at the gift shop. Yeesh.

Checked into the Embassy Suites LAX-South for the night, and decided to give this attached restaurant a try since it was late and the closest place open. The bar/bistro was pretty empty and so we got to seat ourselves. The service was alright, and the food took roughly 20 minutes to come out. I ordered the Chicken BBQ Sandwich, and my sister got the Capellini. We were both starving, and the food tasted so much better than we expected. The sandwhich, which was actually a burger, was very juicy and filling. And the capellini was so savory. Definitely give this place a thumbs up, and a try if you’re in the area looking for food.

This restaurant is located inside The Embassy Suites LAX South. I’ve tried every item on the menu, and each item was delicious. Service is good and the prices are reasonable, that is considering the restaurant is located inside the Embassy Suites.

This lil bistro is at the Embassy Suites near LAX. The service is not good. The restrooms are not well kept Only reason its not a 1 star is because the happy hour is a good look and if your a tourist(which im not Im a local) this place is a good value in the area.

We ate at the 1440 Bistro and Bar tonight… it was good, not great. The hamburger I had was good, bun was dry and way bigger than the patty??? Food was average, actually enjoyed the Which Wich sandwich I had for lunch(the Turkey BLK) more than the expensive burger… sorry. Will try it again when I stay at the hotel.

Layover in LA and a terrific time for a visit with the in laws. So they met us here for a nice family dinner. Surprisingly busy night for 1440 and not easy to get a seat. Simple bistro menu with some nice items. I experienced some of the same service issues mentioned in other reviews. Took a long time to get our food. Some items were not hot. Perhaps the worst was that my sis in law’s ribs were brought about the time the rest of us had finished our plates. I’m certain waitress forgot about them as evidenced by her reaction when I reminded her about them. All these issues stem from one, insurmountable problem: the kitchen is at the end of the hotel. Its a five minute round trip for a server to place an order and return to the table. Probably seven minutes to retrieve the food and serve it. Food gets cold, and it takes a long time to even get it. But, the food is good. So, a decent place if you’ve no where you need to be.

We used to come here fairly often but stopped a few years ago because it just wasn’t that good. But once it renamed itself and changed up the menu and the staff, we figured we’d give it another try. And I’m glad we did! We’ve been here 3 times in the last 2 months for dinner. The food has been excellent(I love a restaurant that actually cooks steak properly — I order medium rare and it was medium rare!) and even better was the service. Our waitress remembered us from our previous visits and treated us like royalty. We will be back again.

Went here for lunch with some co workers. Menu was not that big, I was really looking for some pasta, the only thing they had was ravioli which happens to be the only pasta I don’t really like. Prices were high but this was expected. I had a club sandwich, it was okay, nothing to brag about at all. Garlic fries were not too garlicky which was a down for me as I like extra garliky. Co workers had burgers, they said they were okay, nothing special. Had the nacho appetizer with i believe brisket, they were pretty okay nothing special, we also had the pretzel appetizer, it was very good probably the best part of the meal. I am tempted to try their lunch one day but would never cone back for lunch, unless someone else is buying of course! :)

Last review of the day! This was the second time we got certificates for a restaurant in a hotel near the airport, and both times we were pleasantly surprised. After dinner we walked around the lobby, and we think that what we probably did was sit in the bar — it looks like the restaurant itself is separated by the entrance. Probably a good idea to sit in the bar(it’s to the right when you walk in). There are tables, and the only difference is it might be a little noisier. The upside was that they offered the full menu AND the bar menu, which had some things on it that should have been on both menus but weren’t. Pat had the salmon, as usual(this is what makes me think he’ll probably outlive me by a decade. Either that or he’ll grow gills). And as usual I have to take his word for it that it was delicious. I guess everyone who comes in with a certificate has steak, because even before I gave my order, he asked how I would like my steak cooked. Everybody’s a comedian. But I did have the filet mignon with vegetables(sautéed, and too tasty to be good for me) and Yukon Gold potatoes. The filet came with a slice of what I assume was butter with green flecks(chives?). I really, really, really wanted to leave that on to melt over the steak, but since I’m trying to lower my calorie intake, I took it off. It also came with a mushroom gravy, but I hate mushrooms, and I never use gravy. Wrong. The gravy was incredible. It was light, and a little spicy, nothing like mushrooms. I ended up slicing the steak, putting a tiny bit of the butter and the sauce on it, then eating it. It melted in my mouth. Potatoes and vegetables were good, too, but it was all about that steak. I’m not sure that without the coupon I’d pay $ 29 since I’m not a meat-and-potatoes-or-nothing kind of guy, but you’ll enjoy this if you are. I’d like to try this for lunch — Pat works nearby, and he says it’s a good lunch place. Bottom line — don’t say no just because it’s in a hotel. One weird thing… no bread? Pat says they have really good bread, but none ever came. Probably a good thing, because I would have just eaten it. Service was great(though we were just about the only people there), and it’s not a bad looking place.

After driving for hours from the High Desert, I checked into the Embassy Suites LAX South and was ready for a cold beer and dinner. I wasn’t about to drive off somewhere else, so I was cool with eating at 1440. Service was quick. Several of the waiters came by to check on me or at minimum, to say hello. Order a Stella and it came fast and was perfectly cold. After scanning the menu, I decided to try the lobster bisque. The last time I ever had really good lobster bisque was when I was at Johnson & Wales University in Providence RI. JWU is a culinary school and even their crappy food is considered great food at 98% of restaurants in the US.(Just made up that stat, but you get the picture). Anyhow, the bisque came out with hot ciabatta style rolls. The first spoonful of bisque was a powerful sympathy of well defined flavors! First you taste the perfectly salted, butterly lobster and then the cream. The most interesting & exciting thing about this bisque was that the last spoonful was several times better than the first. I pay attention to details. the little details that tell me a lot about wherever I eat. These ciabatta rolls were about as right as they can be. Hot, crusty and soft, steamy in the center. Perfect compliment to the bisque. So much for the appetizer. On to the entrée… Ordered the rib-eye and it was cooked just right. What was surprising was that the waiter brought me out a small serving of mushroom gravy. Not a big fan of mushroom gravy, so I didn’t touch it until the guilt set in and I was almost done with my steak. I hadn’t asked for the gravy, it wasn’t on the menu, but for some reason the waiter felt I should try it. And so I did… I put a dab on my steak and took a bite. At first the initial taste it was what I had expected, maybe just a little better. But then, the true flavor set it and I was amazed! It packed a spicy punch that I NOT expected! It was SO good that I actually was mad with myself that I hadn’t tried it sooner :-( Next time I’m in LA… I’m coming back for a bowl of lobster bisque and a bowl of mushroom gravy.

So far, they seem like they hate their job and being here. I was seated then waited 20 mins… no waiter… I went to the bar and Jose was an #%@le. Damn… oh. also out of vegetables. thanks embassy suites. They should be ashamed of the food they serve. I paid 25 dollar for 3 Four ounce chicken breasts. So Sad, what a let down. Over all it also seems that this is the Ghetto Embassy Suites. You need passes for everything. even breakfast… let me guess. they have homeless out side… what that tells me… no security.

Just okay. I’ve eaten here many many times because this is where my parents stay when they are in town visiting for holidays. Interesting menu items and good happy hour. Great soup. Service is painfully slow. We always end up eating here on an actual holiday where there is a prix fixe 3 course menu for around 25 dollars a piece… soup or salad, main entrée and dessert. Decent choices but sometimes they use way too much butter. It is typical upscale hotel restaurant fare. Parking is free.

Very clever these hotel owners, offer a free happy hour and guest stays for dinner. We were visiting tired after a day of seeing the sites. We were happy to sit down for the free glass of wine. The wine put us in the mood to kick back and watch TV and order room service. We did this on two evenings. Here is the rundown on two evening of food consumption braised beef quesadilla, spicy grilled chicken wings, grilled hearts of romaine salad, grilled rib– eye, warm milk-chocolate bread pudding and a lemon bar. In my self-esteemed estimation stick with the appetizers. The braised beef quesadilla, spicy grilled chicken wings and the grilled hearts of romaine salad were excellent. Really, I mean it excellent. The entrees are more problematic. We tried to order the braised pork shank or the braised beef short ribs it was about 6:30 pm and they were out of both(there are only seven entrée on the menu and there were out of at least two?). We settled for the grilled rib-eye ordered medium rare.($ 28) What arrived was a gnarly piece of virtually raw meat accompanied by onion rings(obviously straight out of the frozen pack) and decent mashed potatoes. Yucky doo doo. The desserts were so so, The warm milk-chocolate bread pudding with bourbon sauce was too light on the sauce and the bread pudding while tasty was a bit dry and dense. The Lemon bar with blueberry coulis, had only a trace of coulis the lemon bar was good but also a bit dry and dense. Service, It was great, fast efficient and friendly. One really yucky doo doo entrée lost this place a star.

I come here every few months for meetings in their conferance are. I always come a bit early and have a few cocktails. Prices are fair, service is quick, and the appetizers are good. Its even a good place for happy hour after work, and if you get too plasterd just get a room! lol They have a good selection of Mexican beers on tap which is a plus for me!

I had lunch with a friend of mine at this restaurant today, because she was having a seminar in the Embassy Suites Hotel where it is located, and she only had an hour. We looked a the menu online last night and thought — perfect! — in the hotel, nice food selections, reasonably priced, we are so there! I got there before her seminar break(12:45ish) and the place was DEAD, I was the only one there when I sat at a table by the window. The bartender brought me some pretty good decaf(dark and strong, not too caffeinated, like my men heehee) as I waited for my friend. As soon as she walked in, the place started filling in with people that were coming out of the two seminars that were there. Being one of the first ones seated, we ordered a little after 1:00 and started blabbing like us girls do, catching up on work and men and gossip and blah blah blah, you know. Before we know it, it’s 1:45 and we see a few people from other tables getting up to find the waiter and ask about their food because NOBODYWASEATING. Not because they weren’t hungry, but because NOBODYHADTHEIRFOOD! Party foul #1!!! Bad, bad, bad! No waiters could be found, no food on any tables, not even drinks. Ok well maybe a FEW drinks were on the tables. A waiter finally walks over to us with a tray, and we think Oh! Food! But he brings us SOMEONEELSE’S food. So we remind our waiter(different guy) what we ordered(just a Bistro Burger and a French Onion soup) and we wait again. It’s 1:55 when our food comes, and thankfully we could keep an eye on my friend’s seminar leader — HETOO had just gotten his food btw. Not that it was worth THATKINDA wait, but the food was actually very good. The Bistro Burger was on a brioche bun that was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The leaf lettuce was very fresh, as was the tomato and red onion. There were 2 slices of really nice thick applewood-smoked type bacon, it was seasoned well — and not overly salted. We got veggies on the side instead of fries, and that was a mix of green beans, bell peppers, and zucchini. The French Onion soup came in a little crock with a generous melt of Gruyère on top. The broth was very rich and beefy, and there were plenty of onions in it. The croûton was soaked with the soup, and yummy. Party foul #2: our food was not hot — it was barely warm Party foul #3: though I only ate a little of the soup I felt a little MSG-flush warm my face immediately But presentation was good, and the textures and flavors were good. Were it not for the AWFUL service(which continued after my friend rushed back to her seminar and I tried to get the check) the food alone with normal service could have rated 4 stars. Maybe we got them on an off day, but I mean, seriously, didn’t they KNOW they had 2 seminars there today? Another thing that was kinda nice was this little indoor pond in the lobby of the hotel, right outside the restaurant. It wound like a stream, with foliage around it, and there were fat koi, a few turtles, and even a couple of ducks bobbing around! Considering the quality of the Bistro Burger, I’d give this place another try — but I’d make sure I wasn’t there when it’s busy!
