What would El Sobrante be without neighbors donuts? Been around since 1986 and still serving great donuts, it’s a blast from the past!

I’ve been coming here for years. Great donuts, but I especially love the hospitality all the workers! All super nice and inviting! The donut holes just melt in your mouth.

Came in because I was really early to an appointment I had so I figured I can find a donut place and enjoy some time to myself. I Unilocaled this place and it was the closest one to me so I’d figured I would check it out. When I came in around 10:30 they barely had any good options to choose from. Like it seemed they only made a certain amount of donuts and if they run out then that’s it. I asked if they had any old fashion maple donuts so I can drop one off at my boyfriends work and they didn’t have any! Not even regular maple donuts!!! First off let me tell you that if you own a donut shop then you have to make sure you have maple donuts on deck. I don’t think I’ll be coming here at all since the lack of variety.

The chocolate old fashioned was pretty good but would have preferred my edges a little more crispy. The glazed was just okay though, more on the dry side. I wasn’t expecting anything as far as quality goes for the coffee but it is seriously FOUL. I’m a «dunker» and couldn’t even do that with the coffee they sell… I would have preferred 7 – 11 x_x The lady who helped me was actually extremely nice. This place is right next to the laundry mat so it’s the perfect excuse to get a sinful snack. I wouldn’t drive out of my way for this though. Decent local spot. Cash only.

Neighbor’s has a very small parking lot. luckily got a space when a construction worker pulled out. passed on farmers coffee(usually too bitter) eats: glazed donut(.99) –tasted a litter bitter french crueller(1.20) –tasted soggy, donut falling apart. crumbs: –lots of donuts on the racks prelunch, not a good sign. –friendly, quick service… however. the donuts are. so. so. –cash only?

What a nice surprise! The apple fritters were nice and crunchy with a good amount of apple and cinnamon. The french donuts were light and not too sweet. The bar custard donut was too sweet. The prices are reasonable. The apple fritter was only 1.76! I’ve been looking for a good local donut place and I’ve found it!

Just another doughnut shop in California owned and operated by Cambodians. Located in the mini strip mall with Chef’s Chinese and BB’s Laundromat by the Arco(BP) fuel station in downtown El Sobrante. Prices are somewhat higher due to «higher quality dough» aka El Sobrante premium surcharge. Staff is quite friendly and makes small talk with you while picking out your selection. They open around 5 am, which is the time to go for«fresh» sugary doughnuts in the morning. CASH money only.

Minus one star for being cash only, as I am a debit card totin’ gal, but that’s the only problem I have! The owner is always pleasant, even before the sun come up in the morning! Such a doll :) the French Crullers are the best here. Light and not too sweet. Better than other donut shops which I will not mention!

Absolutely love neighbors donuts! Everything is yummy and fresh, family owned business. Their donuts are so much better than chains like Krispy Kreme, they are perfect, not too sweet & not too plain. Have been coming here since I was a baby, & I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. My mom also knows the owners, they are really sweet! :). My favorites are donut holes and the classic glazed donut, simple and delish!

I wish they were a lil’ cheaper but hey! I love those hand shaped apple filled ones & the atmosphere. It’s usually quiet in the evenings & everything is fresh. I love coming & spending my money in a cool community. Keep serving those apple filled ones just for me!

Come here every time I visit family in the area first thing in the morning! Great homemade doughnuts that actually taste like doughnuts should. Too many doughnuts today are sacks of sugar with little flavor other than artificial. If you are looking for a good quick breakfast or snack stop on by and grab a dozen.

I use to come here all the time when i was young. My dad would buy me a custard filled maple bar, and 10 glazed donut holes to go. Then, when i got older, i started LOVING their Apple fritters. Seriously, the apple fritters are to die for. The side is crunchy and soft at the same time. The glaze melts in your mouth, and then when you get to the middle, it’s heaven. Everything just melts in your mouth. Sometimes, i’ll just go to the donut shop to get myself an apple fritter. Depending on the time or the day, the owner would sometimes give me a free one to go. SONICE! Other items that taste equally as yummy are: –the french donuts.(chocolate, glazed, maple) –reg. Glazed donuts –sugar donut –maple bar! –donut holes –old fashioned maple donut thanks Krispy Kreme for leaving, if you didn’t, i wouldn’t have found my way back home to the place that once made me feel fuzzy and warm in the inside and smiley and jolly in the outside: D

I was kinda upset that they refused to fill my donut holes with custard. Also the lady behind the counter was rude to one of her employees while there was a store full of customers. save that negativity for the privacy of the back of the store. how embarassing for the employee. maybe he should try working somewhere where they WILL fill your holes with custard.

Best donuts in the east bay outside of KingPin’s Fresh Donuts in Berkeley. I’ve known the owner’s at this place since I was 8 years old… and developed a relationship with the family because the donuts were that good! Great spot! I recommend the Powdered Sugar donut holes… the french curlers. the raised… or the chocolate bars. If my dad was still alive… he would yell at me for not mentioning the Chocolate covered cinnimon rolls.

I’m so sorry that I found this donut shop… they have the best donuts I have tasted in years! If I keep going back, I’m going to end up looking like a raised glazed! They have every kind of donut you want… way better the that chain donut store with the gooey sugar balls they call glazed. I love the old fashioned maple donuts they have too. I hope to have company staying over soon so I can go get a dozen and try more flavors. The owner is a very nice lady, always has a smile and a nice word for you.
