This is not authentic Japanese ramen. There was no shout of «irasshaimase!» as we entered the restaurant. In fact, I overheard the waitresses speaking Mandarin with each other. But this is rural Kaua’i, and your options are a bit limited. So if you want a bowl of ramen at a reasonable price, this is your place. We ordered: Mini Chicken Fried Rice($ 5.50): This was indeed a mini portion, but the amount of chicken was reasonable. This fried rice was quite tasty, and I could not stop scarfing it down! Seafood Ramen($ 8.50): Shrimp, fish, cabbage and other veggies in a chicken and pork stock soup. I enjoyed the flavor of this ramen and was pleased that the fish was not overcooked. Curry Ramen($ 7.50): Pork and bean sprouts in a curry and pork stock broth. Unfortunately the pork was a little overcooked and dry. Regular Gyoza(6 pieces for $ 3.75): These were alright though a little small; but for the price, I’m not really complaining. 3.5 stars. Overall we left happy and satiated, so that’s well enough by my standards!

On the positive side it exists. For anyone coming back from Waimea Canyon or a morning cruise in Port Allen this positive should not be underestimated. And my vegetarian mother-in-law said the veggie fried rice was actually pretty good. And the gyoza and noodles were fine. The broth not so much. And the Mapo tofu was OK… maybe even good-ish at first… but as it cooled it congealed into a gelatinous mess. And the chicken katsu pieces not so good. And the edamame arrived completely unsalted. Service was a mixed bag. Helpful at first but as the meal wore on it appeared we were the shuttlecock in a game of ‘not my table’ badminton between the two waitresses. Which it turned out was sort of true — neither of them had a check for us which made paying for lunch at the end a bit of an adventure.

OK ramen but it won’t compare to any decent ramen spot from where I’m from(NNJ&NYC). The shio broth was clean but not that flavorful. The noodles were good texture, but none of the other ingredients were anything to right home about. The char siu was a little dry and the egg wasn’t soft boiled. Wife’s katsu curry was good, tasted authentic. I’d actually rather return for that instead of the ramen. Hey, when you’re coming from hiking in Waimea Canyon, it’ll do.

This was a place we found on Unilocal because we were very hungry. We each had a bowl of seafood ramen and shared a side order of mochiko chicken. The broth was delicious and not salty. They gave you a good amount of ramen noodles, vegetables and variety of seafood. It was well worth the price.

The serving size of the bowl is good enough for 2 people(in my opinion). Overall the experience was good. Cute little restaurant with not over the top japanese décor. They do have a bar and serve alcoholic beverages. Just came here for a quick lunch on the way back to Kapaa from Wailea Canyon. I ordered the shoyu ramen and my boyfriend ordered the seafood ramen. The broth for both the bowls were very flavorful and not too oily. The noodles for each bowl were actually different from each other. The shoyu ramen had the traditional ramen noodles while the seafood ramen had the thinner type of noodles. The seafood ramen did have a good amount of seafood in it. In hindsight I probably would have ordered the seafood ramen just because I really enjoyed the flavor more than the shoyu. The shoyu was still good, but it was nothing that I haven’t had before … kind of average I guess. The staff was very friendly and were attentive with drinks. I also had a couple of questions and out waitress happily answered without any signs of frustration. Overall, great place, good food, friendly staff. Can’t really go wrong with it.

Not a fan. Ordered the chicken katsu curry. Consisted of a huge bed of rice, curry sauce w no veggies and katsu chicken that was mostly breading. Kids ordered fried spam and mini ramen. Flavors were ok but quality of the food was not great. If you are in the mood for a huge plate of mediocre, cheap salty carbs, this is your place.

I would definitely go back for more. The serving size is on the massive amount for me. The prices can’t be beat. The service is very good. Packed restaurant due to all the tourist which is a good sign. If you like ramen, this is the place to visit when in Port Allen.

Such a great surprise. Typical small spot in a strip mall. Opens fairly early around 1030… loved the curry ramen… love the price also! 7.95 for a huge bowl! No a/c in the joint but you get over it. Compared to Toki underground in DC, a thicker broth but just as tasty. I would totally come back in the future.
