I don’t review fast food restaurants because you should know what to expect if you’re going to a McDonald’s as far as food is concerned, but here’s a heads up/service review for anyone trying to go to this McDonald’s after 10PM. This is THEONLYPLACE(sometimes) OPENPAST10BETWEENKEKAHAANDLIHUE. I’m not kidding, literally the only thing most nights since even our grocery stores close at 9 or 10. So if you want something to eat(aka drunchies) at 11 or 12 and McDonald’s decides to close, you’re SOL unless you want to drive all the way to Lihue which is 45 minutes for some of us. The sign on the door says the inside is open until 12AM and the drive through is supposedly open all night/late. If you plan on eating here after 10PM, I would highly recommend calling to see if they’re open and still serving food. We drove from Omao to Eleele(heading back to Kekaha) around 11 and the doors were already locked for the night and the drive through was closed. We sat in the parking lot for a while(since we had already driven all the way out here and weren’t trying to go home yet) and watched about 10 other cars come in only to be turned away by the workers who were just chilling in the restaurant. We didn’t even see them start cleaning for a long time after that — maybe another 40 minutes or so? For starters, why even have set hours if you’re not going to follow them? Secondly, I have never heard of McDonald’s being closed before. I don’t eat McDonald’s very often but at least when I’m at school up in the mainland I can guarantee that’s one thing that will always be open no matter the time of night(or day if that’s your thing), rain or shine. However, this place is so hit or miss with their hours and service that it’s really not worth the drive unless you’re super desperate and nothing else is open. TL;DR: This McDonald’s has super inconsistent hours but is the only thing ‘open late’ on this side of the island. Call to see if they’re open if you’re trying to come here after 10PM.

Well, we were in a bit of a hurry(unfortunately, with no time to try the Spam and eggs), running late for our plane back to the mainland and needed a quick trip through the drive-through. With a few cars ahead of us, we thought, «Oh no, this better not be on ‘Island Time!.’» Well, they got us through in record time, plus the Egg McMuffins seemed extra delicious. Must have been how everything is extra good in Kauai. While a McDonald’s meal is not what we yearn for when we’re on the Island, it’s a treat I’ll wish for every time I go through a drive thru at home, «Oh what I wouldn’t give to be going to the Hanapepe McDonald’s instead!»

I have given this McDonald’s a ton of chances. They mess up far too many times. The soda is flat 90% of the time. The breakfast platters aren’t bagged properly(the workers don’t hand it to you flat). I could go on and on. Granted they are always open(the only plus) I don’t think it’s managed well.

Open 24hrs drive-thru, and a great hangout spot for coffee in the early morning and lunch and drinks throughout the day. I’ve been here often on my trips to Kauai as I stay with family in Eleele.

This is the Western most McDonalds in the US. Other than that, it is a regular Hawaiian McDs. They have the spam and egg breakfast platter and haipu and coconut pies. It’s a great place to stop before or after going through Port Allen and you can’t beat their $ 1 large sodas!

One of the great things about McDonalds is at least the food is somewhat consistent. But the other things like service, attitude and store maintenance are up to the local franchise owner. This one needs to step it up to at least the minimal McDonald’s standards. This is one of the worst MickeyD’s anywhere for service and facilities maintenance. It’s easy to tell this owner is cutting corners everywhere. Oh how about cleaning the restrooms and maybe some soap to wash our hands. Don’t your employees need to wash their hands too? But at least MickeyD fries were good. Sure wish McDonald’s corporate folks provided some oversight on these poorly run stores

Do I get to write a review even if one or two of my relatives work there? XP All I can say beside some form of discount or them actually paying for me, the food is pretty much the same here from what I’m used to on O’ahu. It’s right at the corner of Ele’ele Shopping Center, a very beautiful area. The drive thru has always been very quick to serve customers. Seating: Fills up at peak hours! Parking: Shared

Do you really need to read reviews for a McDonald’s? In case you think you do, this is a pretty typical one; however, they do have a few local options such as Taro Pie(1 /$ 1 instead of the typical 2 /$ 1) and a few other local style platters. The prices here are a bit higher then the mainland, but this is to be expected of the island. It is still cheaper than a McD. at the airport… They did not have mini-meals when we were there(March, 2012), but they were serving the seasonal Shamrock Shake — we questioned whether or not they would.

Just another McDonald’s. I tried the coconut pie, which was just ok… nothing special. You get the same stuff as other McDonald’s otherwise.

We visit Kauai once or twice a year. We frequent this McDonald’s in Eleele because it’s close to our house. The service is always outstanding(compared to the mainland). The folks are always polite and nice. The food is McDonalds. therefore the –1 star. Other than that the Haupia pie is to die for!

I ordered a Big Mac and a medium fries to go. Opened up my Big Mac and there were no burger patties on it! Seriously? The damn patties were crammed into the french fries. I’m all for equal-opportunity hiring, but if this is the best ‘Ele’ele can come up with …

Horrible service. Stops serving lunch menu prior to cutoff time and were very rude. Charged me $ 37 and still left out parts of my order. I asked for a receipt and they refused claiming they shut off they’re equipment. I feel cheated and screwed over. How could McDonalds corp. afford to let they’re franchise be run so poorly. I’m extremely disappointed and just upset. Save yourself the trouble and don’t ever eat here, ever.

coconut pie. Don’t know what they called it in their establishment but it was good. Also they make their pies old school style, I mean they deep fry it!
