My mom got many antique furniture pieces from here when she was furnishing the home that I grew up in. Now that I have a home of my own, I started coming back here to get some accent pieces. I like to mix the old with the new. Its a 4 story treasure hunt! If you don’t have the eye for finding classic pieces, then you might get overwhelmed and overlook what Abe’s really has to offer. You’ll find quality, solid wood original furniture that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. They don’t make furniture like the ones that you’ll find at Abe’s anymore. For example, a $ 900 dining table at the big furniture chains isn’t even real wood. It’s that composite crap that they put a thin wood finish over. It’s expensive, but cheaply made. So I can appreciate the way furniture was made back in the day… it might have a few scratches or a chair cushion that needs new fabric — but I can look past that and pick out the well crafted pieces. In response to the other 2 reviews — yes, it is a filthy dump. I have asthma and it’s a guarantee that I’ll need to use my inhaler by the time I hit the second floor. That’s the only reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. You don’t have a sales person on every floor but I actually like to browse in peace without a commission-based sales person pushing for a sale. You don’t need a babysitter to browse furniture. Here’s how it works: After you walk through the place, go back downstairs and they’ll happily walk up with you to check it out and quote you a price, a reasonable price at that. They don’t set the price for a reason — because you have the ability to bargain. It’s family-owned so they are flexible. They treat their customers very well once you get to know them. So if you’re looking for a fabulous, original piece of furniture for a great deal that you wouldn’t otherwise find anywhere else, then give Abe’s a shot. Don’t expect a sales person in a suit or a beautiful showroom like you’d find at a typical chain furniture store. I tell you, it’s the most gratifying experience when you do find a treasure. Once it’s in your home, you forget about the dingy lighting and the dusty floors and furniture, and all you’re left with is a beautiful piece of furniture to enjoy in your home that was built to last. I’ll post some pictures of my fabulous finds and let the pictures will speak for itself. Shout-out to Bruce and Bob! You guys are great :)

I had high hopes for visiting a 4 floor second hand shop. Unfortunately it was filthy dirty. The most comical part of the experience was the postings throughout the store warning of purchasing mattresses at competitors that have bed bugs. Really? Because I think I got bedbugs just walking in here… I shop resale for furniture and clothes constantly, however this is one of the darkest dingiest dustiest places I have ever been to. If someone would vacuum, dust, and replace some light bulbs so you could actually see what you are looking at, I would change my rating to 3 or 4 stars. I have never left a one star rating for any business, but I think this place needs a wake up call. What bothered me most, is the parking lot is infested with mosquitoes. They were covering my car when I came out of the store. The parking lot is filthy, There may be some standing water somewhere that is facilitating the infestation. I ended up with a few mosquitoes inside my car and bites on my ankles. When I returned home I laundered everything I was wearing and took a long shower. It is unfortunate because this place had some really cool furniture. Most of the pieces I looked at had no clear price markings, and one of the doors I really wanted was under a pile of other stuff. There is no employee on each floor, so you really have to dig and then go find someone to tell you how much the item is you want. I wish they would fix it up and take more pride in what they are doing, it could be a cool place, if only it was brightly lit and clean!

Not for the average germaphobe or asthmatic, Abe’s Orphaned Furniture is 4 floors of stuff that looks more like a larger version of your crazy uncle’s basement than a retail store. A lot of upholstered furniture, bedroom sets and china cabinets. I was there looking for two things — a small end table or side table and something to use as a kitchen island. Zip on the island, and while there was a possibility that some of the smaller pieces(of which there were not many), could have worked as side tables, the larger issue here was that very few items were marked with a price. Anyone that knows me knows that unmarked merchandise is a huge pet peeve of mine. Especially in here, I am not sure what the protocol is? Are you supposed to walk downstairs from the 4th floor, in order to find someone that works there, just to have to walk back up(and this building is not air conditioned mind you) to have the guy eye you up and down and then magically produce some number off the top of his head? No thanks. Put some prices on your stuff, Abe, and then we will talk. I think you might be losing out on a lot of business right now — I know you lost one sale for sure on Saturday!
