I really wish I liked this place better. Everything on their menu sounds delicious but each time I come, I leave a little disappointed. The food is good if you’re a picky eater or want something basic. I feel like the food lacks a little in flavor. The last time I was there I ordered the chicken alfredo which was a special. The dish tasted like it needed something else, maybe garlic or something else to give it more taste. I’d only come back if I’m in the area for convinenance.

I kind of like this place a lot. It’s a pub and it’s on a golf course so really what’s not to like? Oh, on Saturdays they have penny wine night. Uh huh, you can get glass after glass(well I think they cut you off at three or four) of their house wine for 1 cent with your meal. I don’t get the bad reviews. We have dined hear a few times after playing the course and have always had friendly and competent service. It’s typical pub food but it’s all very good. They have an extensive beer menu and huge ass pretzel with three dipping sauces. Yep! What else do they have? Well, they have a great outdoor seating area. On Tuesdays, they have half-priced beers! Need more? They have a sammie called the Brat-O-Saurus which is a foot long brat with caramelized onions on a pretzel bun. More? They have a dessert called the Cookie Monster. More? They have a ridiculously fun drink menu. Nice place to have a drink and some grub after hitting the course.

This is a harder review for me because the bar/atmosphere: great! 4 stars! The food & service: not so great! 2 stars. The atmosphere and actual space is really nice. And there’s great lounging and outdoor space with a nice view. If you go to sit at the bar for a drink… The drinks/beer selection are really good. Depending on your bartender, you’ll get good service and good mixed drinks. If you take a table and risk ordering food… It’s 50⁄50. It’s gotten a lot better over the years(they got rid of the really terrible cranky lady manager) but it’s still not good. The food is either bland or overly spiced/sauced. And they try to be «fancy» with some choices and it just crashes and burns. Get the basics right first guys. Offer amazing American pub food. And make it the best. You don’t need to try to have all the random stuff that all tastes like you found the recipe on a Google search. The service is usually just mediocre. And it doesn’t matter if the place is dead or slammed. I’m not a needy guest by any means. I waited tables and tended bar in college too. So I’m REALLY understanding. But I also know the business: Be friendly, don’t bullsh-t the guests on their orders, get drinks out ASAP, keep the glasses full, keep the garbage & empty plates off the table, check on your table, be available but not hovering, take ownership for issues and make changes/accommodations as needed, know the menu, and don’t make your guests have to track you down or wait forever for you to bring them their credit card/change back. Yep… Not that hard. This goes for ALL restaurants thought. But especially here. I can’t tell you how many times we have waited while the server held personal conversations with the bartender, had to pile up my own dishes, remind the server I asked for dressing on the side, didn’t want something, needed silverware, etc. simple stuff. Not enough to complain to a manager(I’m not a d-bag) but enough to be annoyed.

I’ve been here many times and always thought the food was okay to good. This past Friday night I had the worst burger and fries ever — I couldn’t even eat them. This is after my cheeseburger came without the cheese. The place has definitely gone downhill — perhaps they have new management yet again. I won’t be going back.

Food was great! We had burgers, a GIANT pretzel & buffalo wings. Our server, Ashley was friendly, polite & attentive. The gentleman that brings out the food from the kitchen was also very nice. This was our first time here. We’ll definitely be back!

I think it’s about time this place closes up the«Restaurant» portion of the building and simply focus on the Bar and Catering Events. Let me start first by saying that I live close enough to Porter’s, that my family and I can walk there for dinner. In the 5+years they have been open, we have been a total of 4 times? Why? Because each time they change management and proclaim their«New Menu», we think, «maybe this is the time they get it right.» And yet, every time, we are left with the same slow service times, mediocre to poor rated food, and an overall experience that will keep us from coming back(at least until another new management company takes over). I would rather drive 10min to Randall Rd and find a place down there to eat, than walk here. I think the biggest issue they have is that there is no real identity to the establishment. Menu is all over the place, from sandwiches to Prime rib, to fish tacos, to chicken pot pie. Décor is really nice in the bar, but the restaurant side is unappealing and the booths have taken a beating. Cracking and peeling significantly. No upkeep seems to be taking place. Their specials are interesting too: Sunday night is Kids eat free. Yay! Except they aren’t open on Sunday or Mondays. Wednesday night is $ 5 Burger night. Awesome! Except there is only a Hamburger and a Turkey burger to choose from. Saturday night is Italian Night. Sweet! Yet there isn’t a single Italian dish on the menu. I have no idea what Italian Night is even suppose to mean at this place. Just to give an example up what we encountered recently when visiting the restaurant side of this place. My family and I arrived at 5:10p for dinner. We were the only people in the restaurant. Our waitress took our drink orders. She came back 5 min later. Not with our drinks, but to take our meal order. Ok, fine. Chicken Chopped Salad, Brat-o-Saurus, and Chicken fingers for the kids. Easy stuff, we’ll be in and out quickly. 5 min later(10 min after placing them) our drinks arrived. Seriously, 10 min to get drinks and we are the only ones here? Just a sign of things to come. At 5:45p, our food arrived. Again, 30 min to get food that should take 5 – 10 to make? And then the worst part. Chicken fingers were burnt and tasted awful. My kids love Chicken fingers and they wouldn’t touch these. The«Brat-o-Saurus», was interesting. It’s a foot-long Brat, but I say Brat in the loosest term. I am not entirely sure what sausage this was, but I would not classify it as a Bratwurst. Maybe that’s why its called a Brat, to avoid the logistics of it, or false advertising(kind of like Buffalo WingZ by Tyson, the Z allows them to make it from crap, instead of real chicken). Anyway, this thing was soft and mushy and just simply unappealing to chew and eat. Hardly had any flavor. I ate about 1⁄3 of it before stopping. Wife’s Chicken salad was 90%lettuce, 7% vegetables and 3% chicken. At best, there was 1oz of chicken in this salad. Pitiful excuse for a salad. So, for $ 50, we got painstakingly slow service(she was nice though, just slow!), poor food, in a drab atmosphere. WHAT A DEAL!!! So why 2 stars, instead of the dreadful 1 it probably deserves? Because their beer menu is pretty darn good. Check it out, and you will see what I mean: They will have something to satisfy everyone here and if you plan accordingly, Tuesday night is ½ price beer night too. Those two things alone, earn them a star from me. My suggestion, if you choose to try this place out. Go on Tuesday night, get an appetizer, order up a couple of brews and you will probably leave happy. Just avoid the restaurant side of things at all costs!

Fish fry was good but for 13.95 they could have done without charging 2.00 extra for veggies instead of fries

Just had our daughters bridal shower there. They did a very nice job with the food and the service. We will definitely tell our family and friends about Porters if they are looking for a place to hold showers, parties, or banquets.

This was the second time here. Again the food was brutal. First time meat was over cooked. Second time food was cold. Service is good but they need a new menu and a cooking staff. Great selection of beers, wines and drinks. Not a kid friendly place. Would return for a drink but not food.

I had my small birthday party of 10 and everyone was satisfied. The bar maid Candy attended to everyones’ needs and kept up with the rest of the customers in the pub. Her knowledge of the bar business is thorough finding the right type of drink for anyone who was not sure of their choice. We had tried nearly all the appetizers from sliders, steak nachos, fries, macaroni balls. The large beer menu is a hit for all especially at half price Tuesdays. Where can you get craft beers for half price? Friday bands with no cover charge. How often does that happen? Even when the house has few customers, the bands play on. It takes along time for hidden business like this to take hold. The staff is polite, truly tries to please everyone. Customers do get know each other by name. Staff knows many customers by name. How often does that happen? Remember CHEERS? The ruebin sandwich and Wednesday special $ 5 burgers are my favorite I encourage everyone to give this business a chance at success. there will be negatives left by customers as seen by reviews who had a poor experience. The management does attempted to make it right by suggesting another entrée or comp part of the check. You cant ask for anything better. They have comment cards asking for suggestions.

Great casual dining room inside, and beautiful outdoor seating area overlooking golf course. The food is good, but pretty short menu. Fish tacos– yummy, great guacamole, could use more rice Cheese curds are delicious, but then again breaded fried cheese is always good! They’ve got a great selection of craft beer, but it’s pricey! Love the bathrooms! 3 individual bathrooms for both men & women. Baby changer in the 3rd ladies room. It really feels so quiet and beautiful in the area around here. Very peaceful.

Our server first off I thought was really cool and laid back. He got all of our orders right. He took forever to get my friend his ranch dip though. Yes I will agree that there are flies flying around here, but I’m wondering WHY? That literally bugged me. My ASIANBURGER, was tasty. It was cooked rare, very very red and I enjoyed every bit of it. I wish there was more of that wasabi sauce on there though to give it a real kick. What I liked was the fact that our server was knowledgeable with everything on the menu and super helpful with the beer selection. There was a beer I wanted which they happened to have run out of which was okay because the server was able to give me a quick fix recommendation which turned out great. Would I come back? Considering the prices, hmm… probably not. Maybe, but probably not. It’s expensive here. The flies bug me. The food is good, but I know there’s probably better places to get a burger.

Much better than average Pub Food! The burgers are awesome! Go on Wednesday for $ 5 burger night! Great atmosphere and friendly out going staff really add to the dining experience. The sweet potato fries taste fresh and full of flavor. I have also been to the Easter brunch which was an amazing spread. Great place!

I had a really great experience here last night. There are so many things on the menu to choose from(or at least it seems that way when you’re hungry and have no idea what you want to eat). We had the bacon wrapped Jalapenos which were delicious and perfect. Presentation was also lovely. Since we had been golfing all afternoon, we felt it was appropriate to order the golf ball mac n cheese — Wow! I love fried mac n cheese but these were sooo good! Seriously the size of a golf ball, dredge in panko and fried to prefection. After much deliberation, my husband ordered the reuben under the server’s recommendation and it was lovely. Served on marbled rye and the meat was so tender. I was in the mood for fish and chips and well, their fish and chips were just«ok». they fry it in what looks like fried chicken batter so it doesn’t resemble or taste anything like the fish and chips you’d expect. So it’s different. Also it’s listed under Appetizers which I found strange since it was a full sized meal.

A mixed bag… Lots of things to like here, and some good potential. They have a better-than-average beer list, although the draft selection was a little thin(I’m required to say that by my conscience whenever I see Leinie’s Summer Shandy on tap). Menu selections are good, and the burgers were very good. A few awkward things. The bar stools have no backs, which, in a pub, usually means to me they don’t want you to hang around too long. The dishes they serve the food on and in are ultra-modern, like you get in a modern Asian restaurant, which means they have to line up the seven french fries to get them to fit in the narrow dish with the three fish nuggets you get in a tiny bowl with the fish and chips. Wife said the fish was delicious, by the way. Side note: They sell a GIANTPRETZEL for $ 10. Why am I thinking that’s not a huge turnover item? The servers seemed to be stretched thin covering the outside deck and inside seating. The apparent owner/manager is one of those«Hey, how’s everybody doing?!?» kinda guys — like Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack. Fun at first, but it gets a little tiresome watching him wander from table to table joking with customers and barely managing to bring out a bottle of beer to a table to help out the hard-working staff. Of course, he could have been a customer who wandered in from the golf course, in which case, this place is a lot more interesting than I thought! Beautiful back bar, with a good selection of whiskies. We’ll have to check out the fish fry and live music one of these Fridays…

Bring a fly swatter. Good food but omg flies. I’m talking about flies to the point where it’s probably a health code violation. I understand that this is an indoor outdoor, country club environment. But there is a health code and these guys could use screening or something to prevent the infiltration of flies to the point where you end up having to move tables and constantly wave your arms in the air. My server said that the flies were released in order to «combat the West Nile virus. «Are you kidding me? I never heard such a lame excuse in my life. I will return and enjoy this place once the weather turns cold. But if I were the owner, I would figure out how to avoid losing thousands of dollars of patron business in this manner. That being said, if you go on a flyless day, enjoy the Flat Iron Steak… a very generous cut of beef on an ironically skimpy bed of french fries. Flavorful and nice. Terrific selection of wines by the glass with a generous pour. I really want to give this place another star or two, and I will upgrade them as soon as I go on a non-infestation day.

This is a nice place, but … There’s no other way to say it: we had a pretty clueless server who, frankly, could not get an order for a glass of ice water straight. My wife ordered a Kahlua and coffee. He brought her a – I’m not making this up – a cup of coffee and a shot glass of Kahlua. She had to explain to him what a Kahlua and coffee was. :-/ I asked him what kind of single malt whisky they had. He said«I don’t know, but I can find out.». OK. I have no problem with that. But, came back and says«we have Chivas, Crown Royal, Jim Beam … «. I cut him off. «None of those is a single malt whisky». I wouldn’t expect most people to know what a single malt whisky is, but a server in a pub should. Plus, he should know what a Kahlua and coffee is. To cap off our experience, he dropped off our check and then proceeded to disappear. We finally gave up waiting for him to come back and so we went and found the cashier and paid ourselves. I still can’t believe my wife left this knucklehead a tip. :-/

Gosh, I want to love Porter’s Pub, but it really was just so so. The atmosphere is Awesome! The space, the golf course and the bar are just great. The location is perfect for us. However, the menu is just average and the waitress we had was sub par. My husband got the beef tips, way over salted and he added a salad which was nothing more than bitter greens with dressing(and the ranch dressing was not good, how is that possible!). I got the fish taco appetizer as my meal. I asked how many tacos it came with and she said«about three». Well if about three means two, then she was right. I thought about complaining, but she was so slow, I couldn’t imagine waiting to sort through that debacle. I think we’ll go again, like I said, it’s beautiful and convenient for us, but we’ll probably stick with what they are known for… burgers.
