This is a relatively new quilt shop, in an oddly laid out shopping mall. Once you’ve found your way to Walgreens you’re almost there. The shop has a decent variety of fabric, and an owner that is happy to help or to let you browse on your own. There is a large variety of notions to choose from, as well as a decent selection of rulers. I live in the area, so I’ve been here a few times. The fabric selection has improved each time I’ve stopped in. Online shopping really doesn’t replace being able to choose fabrics in person. This is a local quilt shop worth supporting!

Twisted Stitch is a small quilt store tucked away in a strip mall on Randall Road. Be aware, the street address is Randall Road, but the strip mall seems to only be accessible by Gyorr Ave, which is directly south of the strip mall. Logistics out of the way, this shop was a bit disappointing. I was driving up the Fox River anyway, so it was no big deal to stop in, but I wouldn’t have wanted to have driven all the way here from Naperville. The store itself was super tiny, so there wasn’t a heck of a lot of fabric. Which is fine, but the fabric that was there didn’t really stand out to me at all. A lot of it was cutesy Disney stuff, which may be great for people sewing for little kids, but not for me. There were a lot of patterns; my mom purchased a couple and found that they came with CDs instead of printed instructions. I think that’s a little annoying, because then you have to print them out yourself using your own printer(assuming you have one). Also, there weren’t any samples here ATALL. Which is weird for a quilt shop. There were big pieces of fabric hung up with binder clips, but nothing that was actually quilted or stitched in any way. Samples are a great way to get customers excited about the fabrics and patterns that are in stock. Finally, the owner here was nice, but WAY too hover-y. My mom and I couldn’t really breathe because the owner would be standing behind us telling us about stuff she was selling. Which, OK, cool, I’m glad she’s nice, but she could have chatted with us from behind the counter, and just let us know that she was there if we needed any help. It was definitely a case of maybe we would have bought more stuff if she’d have just left us alone to browse in peace. It would take a pretty big overhaul to get me back in this store. However, if you’re close by, and want to check it out, go for it. Maybe you’ll find something in there that works for you!
