I visited here because I have relatives coming to visit and I had heard good things about this place. There was only one couple seated when I walked in.(Our orders arrived simultaneously.) I made my to-go order and about 5 minutes later a tasty looking Tri-tip bbq sandwich and macaroni salad arrived in a plastic container with napkin wrapped around a fork. While the sandwich and roll tasted delicious, the salad did not. It is extremely spicy, with only two thumbnail size pieces of tomato in addition to the macaroni. Overnight the spice did a number on my tummy and after taking kaopectate at 2am I still have cramping this morning. Not what I signed up for.

Was excited when this place first opened. It is close to my home and a new non chain type breakfast/lunch place. For some reason Elk Grove is severely lacking for breakfast choices. The first time I went was on my lunch hour when I was working at home. I was«greeted» by a sullen middle aged woman at the counter who quite frankly seemed to be annoyed either with me or perhaps having to work the front counter. You know the feeling when you want to rush through your order and not ask too many questions to avoid any lengthy contact with a person? Well that was the sort of vibe she gave off. I ordered the French dip with pasta salad which was served within about 10 minutes. It was good but nothing remarkable. Like I had said I really wanted to try it out for breakfast so I asked my husband to take me for mothers day. Poor choice — same sullen woman at the counter; i ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits which I have to admit was delicious. Husband ordered a breakfast burrito which he said he has better at Carl’s Junior. No speciality coffee is made here only French milled coffee so I just waited for Starbucks. I do remember us ordering juice and it bring served in paper cups? The prices here do not warrant being served in plastic and metal pie pans. Will continue to either whip up breakfast at home or drive into Sacramento until Elk Grove comes up with better breakfast dining establishments.

I sat in the deli to wait for my to go order and after 10 minutes, my sandwich has not even been started. The only person that’s doing anything is the cashier and there are 3 other employees just sitting around saying how they’re on their break. Poor girl has 4 – 5 orders to make all to herself with absolutely no help and people are still lining up to order. Although I feel bad for the cashier for doing everything herself, she did not wash her hands or wore gloves. Definitely will not return to this place even if they pay me.

I love this place, a great local spot for a really good sandwich in our small town of Elk Grove. I like how there are no waiters but you order and then wait for your food. The food does not come out that fast, but do not worry after eating the sandwich you will know that the ingredients are made from scratch. You can tell its a modern Mom and Pop type of place.

I am from Galt and drove all the way(on 1÷6÷16) to this place for a sandwich – we really love trying new places and experiencing new food. My wife and I both ordered the pastrami sandwich with chips and salsa. Overall, the food was great. However, I am a stickler for cleanliness. If I feel the place isn’t kept clean, then I feel the same way about my food; was it prepared in a sterile environment, are people washing their hands, is the food stale? These questions run through my mind in a dirty place. With that said, I can only rate this place 3 stars because the floors were very slimy wherever I walked. In fact, it was worse at the drink areas and I literally slid at on my feet at one point. Also, there is a back area where they cook and I guess make the bread – one can see in the back because the door is kept open. The floors there were dirty looking and the place looked in disarray. I worked fast food before when I was a teenager and had to close at night. We would take a garden hose with a sprayer, disinfecting soap, scryb brushes. and scrub brushed and clean the floors cooking area every night because the grease built up on the floors. That’s how their floors felt – like they were greasy from food. What’s my point? I’m speaking from experience. Baguettes, you will get more starts from me when your cleanliness improves. Ultimately, the the experience will bring me back for another go.

I don’t know why I haven’t reviewed this place yet! Just finished eating a delicious breakfast sandwich. It was one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten — lunch or breakfast. The nice guy working was able to accommodate my preferences(no meat but add some veggies to the party). The veggies he added — tomatoes, onions and spinach were balanced with the perfectly fried egg, cheese and garlic mayo. All served on grilled(to a perfect crisp) ciabatta. I opted for potatoes as my side — mentally I was regretting this as I know fruit would have been a healthier option. To the heck with my mental issue because my tastebuds overruled this once I got a taste of those fabulous potatoes. They had been peppered to my liking and there was cheese added. Cheese! This is how I cook and how I like to eat. Thank you so much to the guy who was not only personable but able to create such a scrumptious sandwich. My husband got the breakfast burrito which was not only delicious but huge. Served with a side of smokey salsa — surely it’s made on site. Tasted fresh and real. And on top of all of the above — they served breakfast until 11 during the week and until 2pm on Sundays. Do you hear that Elk Grove? 11am breakfast is a real thing. Support this local business and enjoy something scrumptious.

I just had the bourbon burger and garlic fries. Absolutely good! I am a hamburger enthusiast and this just made my top 10. I am going back to try each one on the menu. The service was excellent and the atmosphere is great. I love the fact that country music is playing in the background. I give baguettes 5 stars.

I have been to Baguettes a few times and I always had the Sandwiches. The last 2 times I tried their hamburgers. I tried the Tiffany burger, and the Banh mi burger. Both burgers are excellent; lots of flavor and the meat patties are the best. What makes them so good is the patties are made with a combination of beef chuck, brisket and short rib. I love hamburgers, and I think they make the best burger in Elk Grove. Change it up and try their hamburgers!

Great lunch spot! Everything is super fresh and delicious. The owner shows up bright and early to make the bread fresh every day as well as all the baked goods. The prices are very reasonable for what you get too. It’s a little hidden where it’s at but worth looking for. They serve breakfast and dinner too.

They use fresh ingredients from the farmers market. I love love their salads, «warrior salad» with tri-tip. Their salad portion is a good size for me where I’ll be ¾ full, which I like! Its not as heavy as plutos or urban jack and a lot more fresh. My intestines always feel like a million bucks every time after I leave. #refreshing However, for a lot of my guy friends that eats a lot and are vegan they might need to get 3 portions to be full. Dudes stick w the sandwiches and burgers. Gals try the salads.

For a deli that was touted by friends and fellow Unilocalers as THE spot in Elk Grove, I was sadly less than impressed. A delis bread and butter should be their food, but my first experience(yes, I will give them another shot), left me underwhelmed. I do give them points when it comes to creativity on their menu. Every sandwich was a twist on the traditional, with some classic ingredients and an odd combination of special additions. I ordered the french dip sandwich. The meat itself was particularly flavorful, was kind of hard to chew and required a lot of au jus to really enjoy. The bread tasted like a cheap store-bought roll. The strange addition in this case — a whole roasted poblano pepper, seemed out of place in terms of texture and flavor. I was also disappointed by the side of pasta salad, which was just a cold, mass-batch mix of noodles and beans with relatively little flavor. A deli is all about sandwiches and there is plenty of menu to explore here. Hopefully my second go-round turns out to be better than my first!

I feel like the food is rather pricey for a order-at-the-counter place, and the hours are inconvenient for anyone working out of town. Service was good – friendly, but long. The chips are the best part of the meals; they’re these thick, fluffy tortilla chips. I had the cubano, and it was good, but nothing memorable for me. I also had an oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookie, but felt it was overbaked, dry and hard. I’ll come back to try the breakfast burritos. Their sales shirts kind of make you roll your eyes and don’t fit in with the environment or ambiance, in my opinion. Other than that, it’s a nice restaurant with cute décor and seems like a nice place to chat with friends.

I think the magic of this place has expired. Walked in and saw about 5 or so «kids» doing most of the sandwich making. I am guessing this is a friends & family operation and the employees(the kids) don’t seem to possess actual culinary skill. So what was the issue? We ordered a grilled ham & cheese and bahn mi sandwiches. Both came with the bread being too soft and did not provide too much structure. The bahn mi was overloaded with ingredients and difficult to hold and eat. Since the bread baguette was too soft the sandwich just fell apart. The grilled ham & cheese looked crispy at first, until you picked it up and discovered the bread was soggy and parts of it just fell away upon picking up. I approached the counter to let them know about the soggy situation and the first person is an 8 year old. I am not discussing this issue with a child. I make contact with the oldest person there and she does not seem to be interested in discussion. So, I end up explaining the situation to 2 or 3 other«kids»(seriously all appear to be under 21). They were all very nice and offered to make a new order, but also indicated that too much mascarpone may have caused it. Overall the taste was not bad and which the only reason I did not send the whole order back.

Excited to try this place for lunch because I love sandwiches and had great dining experiences at Boulevard Bistro. I placed my order ahead by phone and it was ready when I got there. My egg salad sandwich was not what I had expected. Looked sloppy. Bread pale color and chewy. And it was missing the smoked salmon! Good thing I was eating there and they brought over the salmon after I showed them the sandwich. Best thing was the homemade chips and cucumber infused water. I left disappointed.

Love baguettes! As a vegan, they don’t have many options on the menu but the guy in the kitchen made me a really delicious vegan sandwich with all the veggies they had, and it was a really good sandwich. However, I didn’t like the chips and salsa they serve with the sandwiches :(I wanted fries but I guess they don’t have that as an option for the sandwiches, boo :(The place is really nice and clean inside and resembles a barn :) I really liked the service as well.

Baguettes has freed me from the shackles of gastronomic prison in Elk Grove. No longer do I have to go to the«big city» for a good burger. No longer do I need travel to the other burbs of Rocklin, Roseville, and Folsom for a good burger. Now Elk Grove can claim it’s own star amongst the constellation of burgers. Baguettes used to be on Elk Grove-Florin Rd. They had the best gourmet sandwiches, but no burgers. When they relocated, I was sorry they had moved since they were so close to the house. Recently I spied an ad in the Sacramento News and Review for their Tiffany Chilean Burger. I was intrigued. If the burger was as good as their sandwiches, I had the give it a try. A quick Google map search showed that they were right off of hwy 99, a block west of the Walmart. A strange and weird coincidence, they are right next to a delicious vegetarian restaurant named«Loving Hut». My wingman and I showed up on a Saturday @ around 12:45 p.m. and there was a line out of the door; that’s a positive sign. The place was moderately busy with parents and kids coming from soccer. A pleasant blonde woman took our order: one pastrami burger and one Tiffany Chilean burger. Both with fries. The total was about $ 25. Before you start balking at the price, this is in line with other gourmet burgers; Dad’s, Golden Bear, South, etc. The burgers arrived with a smile in about fifteen minutes. We cut them in half so that we could contrast and compare. For both burgers, the first thing you notice is the focaccia bread. It’s not a slice of focaccia, it’s a focaccia bun! The next thing you notice is the actual meat. It’s a hand formed patty that has all the imperfections of a hand-formed patty. Since I am a human, I appreciated things that are made by humans and not pressed out like widgets. On to the taste… Opening act: The pastrami burger– Hmmmm. Fresh and juicy. Slight hint of pepper from the pastrami. Crispy bun. Good burger. Main act: The Tiffany Chilean Burger — OMG!!! I saw stars!!! There was a delightful mix of textures, tastes, and umami. The combination of havarti cheese, crunchy onions, and blackberry jalapeño glaze was a great combination of favor profiles. The sweetness with the jalapeño cut the fattiness of the meat perfectly. Much like teriyaki beef. I recommend this burger if you are into unique and delicious burgers.

I ordered the Breakfast Piggy Burrito. The size is huge, I only finished ¼ of it. The first few bites were good but after that, I felt the burrito was kind of dry and it had too much potatoes for my taste. I needed sour cream but they did not have any :( My boyfriend ordered the Breakfast Piggy Sandwich and he really liked it. I had one bite and it was rather tasty. My sister ordered the special, the Ryan Sandwich. That sandwich was filled with all kinds of flavor in the 1 bite that I took from her; pesto, cheese, turkey, and the softest ciabatta bread ever!

We visited this restaurant on a Friday afternoon for brunch. The outside of the place is not very impressive. The sign is pretty plain and there was not a lot going on outside but when you walk in it’s a whole other story! The place was cute from top to bottom! The tables are made out of wine barrels and the chairs too! There were a ton of cute country details everywhere and the menu was written all cutesy on a chalk board up front. You order your meal at the counter and then they call your name and bring it to your seat. I was not impressed with their customer service sills… The woman who took our order was kinda rude and didn’t smile once. One of my friends told me she was the owner. I also watched her be rude to one of her employees right in front of me while she was taking my order which is NOT cool. I ordered the Three Little Piggys sandwich and sat down with my friends who all ordered separate from me. We all had to wait a while for our sandwiches but my sandwich came out well after my friends and I ordered before they did. They were half way through their meals before I received mine. Watching the employees you could tell they don’t know how to hustle. It should not have taken this long because there was only one other party of 2 in the restaurant. When the food came everything was great! my sandwich was delicious and my friends all loved theirs too. I ordered my sandwich with a side of macaroni salad and that was delicious too! A+ on the food! My advice for Unilocalers who want to grab a quick lunch is to call ahead. It took us at least 20 min to get our food which is pretty odd for a sandwich shop where everything should be pre-made. My advice for Baguettes is to be a little nicer to their customers. The lunch business in Elk Grove is not an easy one and customer service goes a long way. Be nice to your employees. It makes your customers uncomfortable if you don’t talk to them with respect.

I was a firm believer in their old location and was disappointed they were moving further from my work. No more ham and cheese with the mascarpone, apricot preserves and jalapenos during my lunch break! However, upon my first arrival, I was very excited to find a new, bigger and well adorned, cozy atmosphere with ample outdoor seating! I ordered another one of my faves, the turkey and brie with their chips and salsa and, again, was happy to find that nothing about the food had changed! Everything was delicious as usual! However, what had changed was the service. Like what many of the other reviews have mentioned, the service was very slow. It took over half an hour to receive our food. My second visit here wasn’t too memorable, I guess you can say it was a neutral visit. Matter of fact, I’m not too sure what I even ordered! Recently, I returned again around 3pm on a weekday and there was only one couple dining in at the time. I took a look at their specials and opted for something different this time. Eggplant Parmesan on Foccacia! I paired it with my favorite chips and salsa and even a s’mores cookie. Service was great this time and food came out in a timely matter! Only thing I would complain about is the size of their salsa because portions used to be bigger! However, they were more than happy to give me another container of salsa when I requested it. Baguettes, I still believe in you guys! I appreciate the complimentary cucumber infused water and I appreciate a cute and unique sandwich spot in town. I will continue to support!

It’s sad that a place with such great food has such atrocious customer service. My sister and I went back for Sunday brunch and waited over 30 minutes for our food. There were only 8 other guests at the restaurant and they were already eating their food. In the meantime, we kept asking about the status and were told repeatedly that it was«almost done». After 35 minutes, my entrée was delivered, but not my sisters. We inquired AGAIN on the status and were told they were backed up because they had to do a catering order. After 10 more minutes, her sandwich finally arrived and we asked to see the manager. The owner came to our table and told us that they had call-in and catering orders they had to fulfill. We told her that since it was a Sunday, she should have anticipated for such demand and that this was the 3rd time we had the same issue. The owner the asked us, «Well, what do you want? Do you want me to comp your food?» Personally, I think an apology would have sufficed, but her response really angered us and we responded yes. She then asked, «Are you still gonna eat your food since you’re getting your money back?» At that point, we wanted nothing to do with this place and said no. The owner then grabbed both our plates and stormed to the kitchen. We sat for a while fuming and wondering what to do next. No one came to give us our money so we went to the cashier stand. The cashier was taking orders so we waited. However, when she completed her transaction, she walked away. We waited AGAIN and no one did anything. So we approached the closest staff member and asked for our refund. The cashier came back and said, «Hold a sec, while I help these customers.» So, we waited AGAIN and finally, another staff member gave us our money back. I have been to many restaurants and have never been treated this rudely on purpose. I understand things happen and maybe there were extenuating circumstances, but there was no excuse for such bad service.

Sorry Elk Grove, I am not a fan. I have had this place bookmarked prior to the relocation, and for whatever reason continued to fail to go. Recently I was in need of some carbs in a big way so I went on over to Baguettes. When I arrived their was only one couple ordering(which I was happy about since I read reviews about their pace of preparation) so soon after I placed my order of Poblano French Dip and the Portabella Special with blue cheese potato salad. Within 10 minutes I was paying my tab of $ 23 and out the door. Once I arrived home, I was instantly saddened by the size of my sandwich and the pale look of the bread. I took my 1st bit.. .the bread was on the gooier side(not cooked long enough) but the beef was tasty. I decided to continue to eat while dipping the sandwich in the au jus.. . Bleh!!! The au jus was salty and of course made the bread more gooier. I gave up and just ate the meat from the sandwich. I don’t know if my hopes were too high but Elk Grove loves this place, this Unilocaler does not. Gooey uncooked bread, salty gravy and super high prices; this did not satisfy my need for carbs that particular day. So later on in the day I went to the Nugget up the street, paid $ 8 for my favorite, The Fire Cracker, and was very satisfied with this purchase(twice the size I might add). I will note Hubby enjoyed the blue cheese potato salad but his sandwich he did not feel the price was worthy. I went, I tried, no Thanks!

I finally got to eat here when I had time to kill in Elk Grove. Their menu is so compelling. It’s super quaint inside and the tables are really comfortable and arranged really well and the lighting is relaxing. I got the brie and apple in salad form and it came with basic vinegar/oil and mayo with a partial baguette on the side. It was delicious and fresh and I enjoyed every bit of it. Can’t wait to try more stuff!
