As a dentist, Dr Chantry is fine. The problem I had was the high prices and the insurance. I asked if they accepted my insurance. They assured me they did and quoted prices for services. I paid the amount that was my portion. Later I received bills from the insurance that they were covering only a portion of the cost. I asked the dental office about the charges and they told me not to worry. I had a cleaning and they offered to do a cancer screening and assured me the insurance would cover half. I had the screening and it came back as positive. They told me to come back in a few weeks for a follow up. When I came back the financial person ambushed me with charges for over $ 700.00 instructing me that the insurance was not in network. After this I left and never returned. Still not sure if I have cancer.

I want to amend my previous review because Dr. Chantry has been a great dentist for me for the past couple years. He has provided good treatment and I love my teeth. My semi annual dental cleanings are great as well and the hygienist is so sweet. I also love hand moisture treatments that is offered at every visit.
With that being said, I understand that sometimes misunderstandings happen and it’s not intentional.

This review is for people that do not have Dental Insurance, and paying out of pocket. I had a crown come loose and fall off, I wanted an estimate of cost. They do not give any cost info, you have to go in for a «free consultation». After the required paper work, I was told they would do full mouth xrays. I once again explained, just one tooth issue. I did not allow them to xray the one tooth (required because there might be issues), of course I understand that. But I had to insist on a ballpark estimate of the cost involved BEFORE starting any procedures! Everyone has a right to know exactly how much an xray cost. Finally finance personnel came in with a list. $ 90 for exam, $ 75 Xray, $ 110 Re-​cement crown (I brought it with me). At that point no one had even looked in my mouth. So my point is that there is no valid reason that a base estimate could have been given to me when I ASKED for it over the phone and in my first email ! Even if there are issues and it cost more an estimate should be given. The office staff knows what the fees are. I took two hours off work, and should have known better. I ended up emailing/​calling several other Dental Offices and had no problem with them communicating the fee structure. I got two quotes for $ 95 that includes the xray! Check around, that is what I recommend to others, and do not feel obligated to anything even if you’re already sitting in the chair. On the brightside the office is right off Elk Grove Blvd, and the exam rooms are very clean with new/​updated equipment.

I really miss Dr. Bell.
Dr. Chantry took over a few years back when Dr. Bell retired, and the prices have skyrocketed. Other than price, Dr. Chantry and his staff are really friendly and know what they’re doing.
Shop around for quotes before you go to Chantry for dental work though.
