Would give this place zero stars if possible. Horrible food and service. It’s a wonder how they’ve not going out of business years ago. :(

Came here on 10÷3÷15 at 1:00 p.m. They are closed and the windows are covered with brown paper.

I’ve been here a few times. Every time it is great. Great service. And food is so good. There menu describes exactly what you get on your plate. There selection on drinks are good to from mixed drinks to wine and beer. I’m simple. I like the Tsing Tao with any of their great tasting food. Price is decent. I’ll be returning for sure with my family and friends. Thanks Phở 1 for making my experience there the best I’ve had in a long time.

I called my order in and they said it was going to be 15 – 20 min. Actually came out in 25… So not bad. Service was ok. We ordered 2 com thit nuongs. When I opened it. There was barely anything in there. The meat tastes bland. The salad tastes old. Instead of fish sauce for our meal they gave us sweet and sour sauce?! Never coming back.

Not the best place for phở. Sooo I came on a Monday morning, but I just checked their hours on Unilocal and Monday hours is not listed, sooo I’m confused. Anyways, came here and ordered a regular phở tai, but it looked like a small! Omg the broth was sooo salty! I mean I love salty food, but salty phở broth… it wasn’t that good. However, the man working there was very nice and kept refilling our water :) Also, my friend ordered a rice plate w/pork and the portion size is small compared to other places. The wait for the food took a while too. I recommend you to go somewhere else for phở — this place is not #1.

This place was horrible. I got the #26. The chicken was rubbery and very chewy. Peanut sauce was watered down. The egg rolls tasted strange as well. I should of walked away when I saw there was no one inside and it was 6:30pm. Phở Lotus across the street is better and the one on laguna and Franklin even better, where the food tastes fresh, unlike here. I will not be back. This was very disappointing. I don’t know how they stay in business. Hopefully these bad reviews will help them get better.

I love this place. I nearly go once a week with my husband. The food is so yummy! I get a meal they have it comes with phở, a banh mi, and spring rolls… I eat it all! I have tried the grilled chicken Banh mi and the roasted pork Banh mi, both very yummy. The owner is very nice and always comes out to say hello to us. I have tried most Phở places in elk grove since I am a Phở head. I LOVEIT! I must say when I get those cravings for phở I go to phở No1 because it is No 1.

I’ve been coming here since it opened and I’ve watched the beautiful transformation of this place. I’ve had plenty of dishes and they have all been very good! You can taste the freshness of all the ingredients mmmmmm delishhhh! Don’t forget to order a Thai team I swear it is the bet in town! Service is always great! Not to mention how clean the place is(I’m such a clean freak) all around.

Our family comes here frequently. The prices are good, and the food arrives to your table fresh, hot, and your order is ready pretty quickly. The ambiance isn’t fancy, but the restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly, and they have big screen TVs playing sports, so you can catch a game while you eat. Their fried rice is AWESOME and their noodle dishes are very yummy. My daughter loves the shrimp fried rice, they do not skimp at all on the shrimp — they are large and plenty of them. I always order peanut sauce instead of fish sauce and the owner always remembers.

I’ve eaten here a few times, tried a variety of PHO soups. Overall I would not complain about the food, I think it is average.

This was my first time eating here, we ordered a meatball phở, shrimp spring rolls, and #28 the pork vermicelli plate. The meatball phở broth was okay tasting, it didn’t have much flavor but at the same time it was a little high on the sodium, if that makes sense. The broth is a little dark from what I am used to. The shrimp spring rolls are yummy and different from what I am used to because they put the pickled carrots in it and cut the rolls up. Not bad at all though. My hubby’s vermicelli plate was filled to the top but not with enough noodles. Fish sauce that came with it was a little bland. I also ordered a side of tripe(which is usually served in a soup bowl with broth) for 2 $ expecting a good amount, unfortunately I was let down. The bowl of tripe was the size of a rice bowl with about 10 pcs of thin tripe in it. The phở places I usually go to charges 1 – 1.5 $ for a larger portion of tripe. Overall, the food still filled us up and satisfied us for the time being. Service was good and staff is friendly.

Unfortunately for a place called«Phở #1», their phở is not good. The beef broth is dark, cloudy, and just salty! No real phở flavor except just a salty broth. Also, their vegetables and produce were not very fresh. We ONLY had phở, so i cannot vouch for their other food. Great looking restaurant and very friendly staff, thus 2 stars!

It’s always exciting to try new places, especially if they’re far away from little Saigon but this place was a miss. We came in on a Sunday evening and immediately saw that they were busy. I ordered their special phở and my boyfriend ordered their bun thit nuong(grilled meat over vermicelli noodles). It took 35 minutes for my boyfriend to get his food and another five after that for mine. The food was a little lack luster. The broth in the phở was flavorful but nothing special and the grilled pork on my boyfriend’s dish was good. It’s tough to say whether or not that I’ll come back because I don’t really feel like waiting 40 minutes for food to come out. Sometimes I just needed a friendly reminder that my food was coming, but the servers just kept ignoring us. If their service was better, the wait wouldn’t have been as unbearable. Food for thought.

Was driving around this side of town and saw Phở #1 and decided to give it a try(the only other place in the vicinity I’ve been to before was Phở Lotus across the way, and historically I am a fan of Phở Le off of Sheldon, and the original fave, Viet Hoa on Franklin). Small place, family-run feel. Sat by the window, could see the bar and Harlem Globetrotters on TV. Shrimp spring rolls: A lot of lettuce inside, would have liked more noodles. The waitress joked that it was«low carb.» Presentation/plating very nice, cut up with the sriracha sauce and peanut sauce. Grilled pork rice plate: The pork was a little oily but good. Grilled pork vermicelli noodles: Same issue with the pork but good. Phở #1 Special: Size small was decent amount, good flavor. Pleasant service, food was quick to come out to table, reasonable prices.

I have been coming here frequently over the past couple years since it first opened. Their service has greatly improved since they first started out. Their waiters/waitresses are friendly and welcoming. They give you enough space, but still make sure they check up on you. A really great little restaurant. They slow down quite a bit when they’re more full, so keep that in mind. Usually around high traffic meal times, so unless you have friends to kill time with, or ready to wait, cone during off times. Their food overall is above average. I love their flavor in their dishes; phở and rice plates. In regards to my last review, their flavor is not overpowering, but not bland. And their portion sizes are just right at a good price. I like that they serve banh mi here compared to Phở Lotus across the street, and they taste good. They’ve gone through a few renovations, but they’re a nice place to go to at the right time.

From the words of my boyfriend«we only like their salmon spring roll. The rest is crap!» We decided to give this place a try for dinner on a weeknight. It was pretty dead. With that being said, I’m going to expect great service from a place that doesn’t have many customers dining. There was only one man eating alone in the bar but the service was extremely slow ! I’m thinking: gee, their food must be delicious if they put so much time into preparing it. But, that’s just the libra in me, always giving people the benefit of the doubt. We ordered a barbecue rice plate, phở, a taro shake and salmon spring rolls. The only thing that seemed edible were the salmon spring rolls. The taro shake I ordered was good,(which Is why i decided to give 2 stars instead of 1) BUT it was nothing like a shake. It was basically taro milk tea with crushed ice.

Decided it’s time to try out a new phở place. Since Phở #1 is located close to my house I thought I would give it a try. First off I like the ambience of the place. When I first walked in, the restaurant felt like it was warm and quiet. The restaurant is really small with only a few tables available. I think I remember the maximum occupancy said it can only hold 30 something people. The service was good here because they had 4 different people serving us. Got us refills and checked on us to see how we are doing. Why the 3 stars? I felt like what I ordered was missing flavor. Don’t be fooled by the name of the restaurant because their phở isn’t #1. The beef broth seemed like there was no beef flavor making the noodles and beef tasteless. No matter how much Sriracha and hoisin sauce I put in it didn’t help. I wouldn’t mind giving to place another try but I think I will try the rice plates.

With all the Phở restaurants sprouting up it’s hard to keep track and make comparisons, but Phở #1 is a hit with me. First, the restaurant is clean and provides an intimate feel of a small, family owned restaurant. The moment you walk through the door you are greeted and seated. I ordered the rare beef Phở and a Veggie Bahn Mi. The soup remains traditional, fresh and the small size was more than enough to fill me. They provided thinly sliced raw beef, compressed tightly, about the size of a small fist. The sandwich was a nice surprise. The demi-baguette was soft, warm and perfectly crisp on top. Although only a veggie sandwich it was heavy and packed with cilantro, shredded carrots, jalepenos, onions and other veggies mixed with a green, sweet & spicy cream sauce. It was delicious! If you can’t handle spicy, ask them to leave out the chili because the cilantro, onion, pepper sauce combo set my mouth ablaze… and I usually can take at least medium spicy foods. The Veggie sandwich comes with a tofu option, which I passed on. I’ll definitely return to try more of their authentic dishes.

I don’t claim to be an expert on Vietnamese food, but I do enjoy eating here once in a while. The prices are reasonable and recently, they overhauled their menu and have a vast array of selections from phở to banh mi sandwiches… There aren’t an overabundance of Vietnamese restaurants in Elk Grove, so I tend to visit them all and this is the one in the Nugget shopping center on Elk Grove Blvd.
