My family and I have been coming here for years. Everyone is friendly and the food has never disappointed us!

Friendly, good food, kinda noisy though, so if you want a quiet dinner not a chance. But I will be back

This place is a hidden gem, we typically cook so don’t eat out often but stumbled upon this place and everything is fresh and delicious! We will definitely be returning!

Has to be one of the best Happy Hour spots in Elk Grove. $ 3 house margaritas, $ 1 tacos, $ 6 appetizer plate? Geez… sign me up. Now, I haven’t eaten anything beyond what is on the HH menu, so that is definitely on my list, but with the deals during HH I find it difficult. Really, with $ 1 chorizo and carnitas tacos, I’m happy with just that. In addition to the $ 3 house margaritas, they have daily drink specials as well, just check out the bar board. Speaking of board, I kind of wish they had a printed out HH menu instead of hover and reading over the people at the bar. If they let me, I’ll even do it for them. For trade, I’ll work for food and booze… Service is good. Since I always sit at the bar, the bartender is the one making sure we are satisfied, sometimes it will be another server or even a manger to check up on us or drop off out plates, but mainly, the bartender is the one. I like that they offer us the spicy salsa, and if you’re a fan of spiciness, then make sure you get yourself a dish. While the chips are usually fresh, I will admit I prefer Chevys chips, but it is hard to compete with those crispy guys.

Love the rice on the burrito and everything else, it was huge like 12 inches. So worth it! Will surely be back!

Very impressed with this place. Never heard of it til a friend took me here. Everyone looks like they actually enjoy their job and they’re fast and taking care of people. Rice was my favorite part of the meal. It made me wanna eat more. Lettuce tastes super fresh and my tamale was really good. Food didn’t upset my stomach later on in the day or made me feel bloated. Definitely would recommend this spot for authentic Mexican food.

Plaza Del Sol is your pretty A-Typical Mexican restaurant. I have said it on some of my other posts and I will say it again for this restaurant: there is not a whole lot to make it stand out from all the others; missing the«Wow» factor. Was the food good? Yes. Was it anything to write home about? Not really unfortunately. What this restaurant has going for it is the homemade tortillas. I can’t stand a Mexican restaurant that serves store bought tortillas so that is definitely a win. The restaurant itself is nice and clean. The service was great as long as it was the female server who was helping us. The gentleman who brought out our food was not the same as the lady who took our order. When we ordered, we ordered a side order of tortillas. When the food came I simply asked the male server if the tortillas were on the way and from the attitude he gave it appeared he thought I was asking for free tortillas or something because his reaction was kind of rude in my opinion. And when he brought the tortillas that were forgotten about, he just tossed them on the table in a way that just bothered me for some reason. Didn’t feel like my business was really appreciated so I don’t know. I will most likely eat here again because the food is good and the service was ok aside from the one server. Our original server made sure drinks were refilled and she was very nice and smiled and overall did a very nice job. But, if I am having one of those days where I am just kind of tired of the same old Mexican food and I want to try some Mexican food with a flare, I am going to have to try some place else.

This place has the best customer service around! The entire staff is very friendly and really customer oriented. The space is large and has a relaxed atmosphere with comfy booths. Additionally, the food is authentic and tastes great! It is by far the best Mexican restaurant in the area.

One of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. The service is fast and the employees are all really nice. The chips and salsa were really good… and addicting! My husband got the green enchilada meal and I got the carne asada tacos. We loved both. Everything tastes really authentic and we will definitely be going back.

Incredible customer service. Our waitress was the most friendliest, genuinely considerate person we have ever met. We ordered street tacos carnitas. Excellent taste. Lots of onions. There was actually fresh avocado on each taco. The plates were searing hot. Hubby ordered the huevos rancheros. The eggs were a bit over cooked, but the meat on top was super tender and tasty. Beans and rice on both dishes were spectacular. You can eat a great meal for 2 under $ 20. Chips and salsa were great! Chips were crispy. Salsa had a nice bite to it.

Found this place on Unilocal as we were driving home from Reno. Hands down this is the best Mexican restaurant we’ve been to so far. Party of 7 we all ordered something different and all of our plates are empty. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip. Thank you Juan for the great service

My Wife is away to San Francisco for a couple of days and I was craving some abondigas soup. Plaza del Sol makes some pretty good soup.

Having grown up in Elk Grove, I have been to this place several times. But never consistently. It is one of those places that when peoplke suggest it you think«ok, that sounds good» but then you go and remmeber why you NEVER go there. I have not really hung out in the bar area, so this review is about the restaurant. The food is always disappointing. Out of the 4 things on your plate, one will be good and the other three uneventful. The one thing they do really well is the flour tortillas, but they never bring enough out and getting more always takes forever. I dont think we will be back. If I am craving mexican food we will hop on the freeway and go to El Nov.

First off, Raquel at the front is an absolute gem! I went in the other day to get some food to go and she told me all about the restaurant’s history and food. The BF loves their chicken enchiladas so we’ve been making it a regular stop these last couple of weeks. He’s been telling me about this nice lady who always helps him with his to go order. I got to finally meet her today. Instead of our usual orders, the BF tried the fish taco special with breaded fish and I got the pozole since I’ve been on a soup kick lately. The first time I ever had pozole, my friend’s grandmother spent all day making it from scratch. That first experience has ruined all subsequent versions I’ve had ever since. That is, until I had PDS’s version. I haven’t had pozole in a while and the first taste was so nostalgia inducing. They served it with the traditional cabbage, onions, radishes and lemon. The broth was hearty with plenty of tender chunks of perfectly cooked pork and hominy. They did not skimp on the meat, that’s for sure. All of this blissful wonderfulness was served with two pieces of warm, fresh made flour tortillas. I usually eat my pozole with corn chips, but after this experience, I may never go back to that. I think I have found my new fave Mexican restaurant in Elk Grove!

First off let me state that this restaurant is owned by the same people as La Mission on Florin rd, next to Home Depot. My family and I have been going to La Mission since before I was born. 30+ years. It is my favorite Mexican food, I basically grew up eating it. However the quality of food at la mission has gone down hill, I’ve started coming out here. The food is great, but the service here is hit or miss. I know some of the waiters from la mission, and they are good but my last couple visits have me rethinking that. I don’t mind not getting my refills and stuff like that immediately, especially when it’s busy. But on one visit, there was a middle aged lady working. I think she may have been a supervisor or something because she wasn’t our waitress but she would still come by and check in on our table and she also seated us. I was waiting for a refill on soda and chips/salsa for a while, but our waitress wasn’t around for me to call them over. But that lady came out with our food and set it down and turned to leave. I asked her for a refill of soda and before I could also ask for salsa she cut me off and left. She came back with the soda and I mentioned the salsa as well and she gave me a real bad attitude and acted as if this was below her. She said she’d let someone else know. But I’m pretty sure you work there so I don’t know what the deal is. She could have been polite about it and just sent someone else. I stopped coming back for a while because of that. But since then, the service just seems lacking at times with our servers disappearing when we need refills or napkins or just simple things. Anyways, mostly the food is great and the people are nice and friendly. Maybe I just have a sour taste from one bad experience but I haven’t seen that lady since, so maybe she’s gone.

Good food, great service, reasonable prices, and very accommodating of large groups. We did a multi-generational family birthday dinner with a party of 17 here last weekend, and were very pleased with the whole experience. They have a semi-private area on the bar side, and will take a large group reservation with no deposit. Also, we are a Mexican family that is kind of picky about Mexican food, and the consensus was that everyone enjoyed their respective entrees. I had the pozole, which was quite good, and tasted the chile colorado — also a hit. The chips and salsa were fresh. After some murmuring about the salsa not being spicy enough, the server brought out new, spicier salsa options which were great. We had a great experience, and would definitely come back!

Friendliest staff in town. Always something delicious on special. Happy Hour from 5 – 8 everyday — free chips and salsa! What more could you want?!

The carne asada plate is ! The steak is wonderfully seasoned and grilled. Refried beans and rice taste homemade. The tortillas are definitely homemade! Served hot and fresh. Chicken wings were nice and spicy and a great price $ 9 for 12 drummettes. Order drinks at the bar during HH. Daily specials. Strong drinks. I’m sippin’ on a top shelf margarita for $ 7, as I write this updated review. So bueno!!!

I don’t normally crave Mexican food, nor do I hate it. Honestly we ended up here because it was a few steps away from our first choice, Cassidy’s, but the wait was far too long. The menu has a pretty wide selection of almost any well-known Mexican dish you can think of. They provide chips and salsa on the house. The salsa isn’t chunky but it definitely has some spice. For my meal I decided on chimichangas. You get a huge portion of 2 giant chimichangas, rice, and beans. The menu also says it comes with sour cream and guac but the waiter did not bring it out until I asked about it. Those two items definitely added some flavor and sauce to the otherwise dry dish. I think pico de gallo would be a good addition as well but I used some of the leftover salsa to add more heat to my dish. I ended up being full after eating about half of one chimichanga… so for $ 12 I was satisfied AND I have leftovers for tonight and tomorrow! Service was very accommodating, tending to every need that we had. If I ever needed authentic Mexican food I would come back and also recommend this place. There are probably better places for authentic food but since I don’t go out for Mexican food too often, my foodie knowledge in that area isn’t too broad.
