My husband and I stopped here for dinner on our way home from Sacramento a few weeks ago. What a nice find, off the beaten path! It was a busy Saturday night, just before Christmas. The main restaurant was booked, but we were offered a table in the bar area. I was in the mood for a quiet, relaxed meal, but we accepted the table in the lively and noisy bar. The food and service was excellent. The staff were warm, professional, and friendly. My cocktail was creative and refreshing. The warm bread, soup and salad came freshly prepared from kitchen, down to the dressing. My husband had the stuffed free range chicken breast. It was tender and juicy with a delicate apricot stuffing. I ordered the pork chop stuffed with Granny Smith apples, applewood bacon, prosciutto and sage. It was perfectly cooked and the sparkling cider cream sauce was delicious! When the meal is really good, you always wonder about the desserts! I requested half of my meal boxed to go, and we both ordered desserts. All of the items on the tray looked so wonderful it was hard to decide. My husband ordered chocolate cake and I went with my all-time favorite dessert, Crème Brûlée. Both were very good, and well worth the extra calories! The only improvement I would suggest is refreshing the interior décor. Perhaps that is coming soon though, as they were putting the finishing touches on a large, lovely, new event space behind the restaurant. The next time we drive up here, I will book a reservation in advance and secure a quiet table in the main dining area.

The Sheldon Inn is always a pleasant experience. We are always greeted with a warm reception. The bar serves an ok drink but nothing special to brag about. The dinning room can be dim depending on where you sit. But the food is always top notch. This time I had the Lamb Chops and they were cooked perfect and so very tender. Salads was fresh and cold although the vinaigrette was somewhat plane in flavor and heavy on the oil. Service is great every time. The Sheldon Inn is a place that is on the outskirts of town but worth the drive to have a very good meal.

My husband and I have been coming here off and on for a few years now. Generally the food is quite good. We just ate there a couple of days before christmas, and I had a very flavorful grilled ribeye with a wine and mushroom sauce that was the best I have ever had there. It came with tasty herb roasted potatoes and crisp green beans. My husband had the meatloaf which was something we haven’t seen on the menu before and said it was good. Some complain about the portion sizes being too small, but I actually like that they don’t give you a huge pile of food. I also like that they now take reservations for all party sizes(before it was only available for parties of 5 or more). The servers are all friendly, although sometimes the service can be slow, even if they are not super busy. I recommend going there early. On a few occasions when we have gone there late we have had our meal disturbed to various degrees by rowdy large tables. The restaurant is expensive enough that I don’t expect to have someone at the large table next to us stick their fingers in their mouth and whistle to get their noisy companions attention(yes, this happened to us last year and it startled the whole restaurant). And recently a large Christmas party basically took over the restaurant, complete with one of them at the end of their meal standing in the middle of the room giving speeches with everyone else clapping and at times almost yelling. It was late and my husband and I were the last ones in the restaurant who were not part of the Christmas party. The management noticed how disruptive this party was getting, so even though we hadn’t said anything they offered to move us to the now closed and quieter bar area to finish our desert and coffee. It was a very nice gesture, but the whole thing was still a disruption to the end of our meal which was over $ 100 after appetizers, entrees, wine, and desert. I realize there may not be much the restaurant can do about the behavior of some of their guests. Maybe creating a separate dining area for larger parties at least a little bit away from the middle of the dining room might be a good idea. Or limiting the party sizes unless the restaurant plans to close to make it a completely private event.

On our recent trip to Sacramento for Thanksgiving, my husband and I went to Sheldon Inn for dinner & I have been meaning to sit down & review our exceptional experience ever since! It was so good– we even went twice in the few days we were in the area! The food was delicious, atmosphere in the bar area where we ate was warm & inviting, & all of the staff we encountered on both of our visits were great. On our first dining experience, my husband & I both had filet mignon with béarnaise sauce & vegetables & potatoes … it was so good I craved the steak for DAYS following our dinner, & when we went back for our second time we both swore we were going to each order it again — it was THAT good. The béarnaise sauce on the steak was incredible, steak was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables were delicious as well. It was the perfect plate. My husband ended up branching out on our second trip & got the special of pork chops instead. I asked him how it was(we selfishly were too into our own meals to share) & he couldn’t decide which was better, he was very impressed with both. I’d also like to recommend their lemon drop martini & my favorite appetizer was some kind of tostada. SO, SO good. Just want to say a huge thank you to all the staff, management, & owners at Silva’s Sheldon Inn for our wonderful experience. We so wish Sheldon Inn was in Southern California so we could go all the time… but we look forward to coming back the next time we are in the area!

This restaurant has been open for well over 20 years. It is relatively convenient for me so I have been there several times. It is located east of Elk Grove on Grant Line Road. The restaurant itself is in a rather unique historic building with a period décor. You may perceive the décor as charming or dated — your call. The restaurant itself has a great deal of seating — while it can get very busy /noisy on Thursdays — Saturday nights. Note, there is also a large bar attached. They have upscale menu selections and some very drinkable wines. The food and service is generally very good but, I have experienced a few exceptions with respect to both food and service. This is not a low-cost restaurant … particularly for the setting.

Great atmosphere with a mature crowd. Food is amazing! It was our first time here and I had the stuffed chicken. I must say it’s probably the best chicken I have ever had. Will definitely be a regular guest here from now on! This place is underrated for sure.

We had the pleasure of having our Thanksgiving dinner at Silva’s Sheldon Inn. Was surprised that they were open. They served a full house through several seatings. Our meals were beautifully prepared and everything was homemade down to the potatoes and stuffing. Thoroughly enjoyed having someone else do the cooking and cleanup so we could enjoy family. Thank you to everyone at Silva’s who sacrificed your Thanksgiving to take such wonderful care of all of us that day.

Good food but extremely over priced and the portions are very small. The mixed drinks have minimal alcohol in them. In Wilton, there really aren’t that many great restaurants. If I want a great meal, I will drive into Elk Grove to get it.

Silva’s is by far my favorite restaurant! The environment of the restaurant is wonderful! You can feel comfortable coming in jeans and a t shirt or dressing up. The lighting and background music makes for a perfect setting for a romantic evening! The food is hands down amazing! What I love most is the consistency of the restaurant! The food always tastes the same! Which it all tastes phenomenal! There won’t be any surprises of your favorite dish not tasting right. And as we all know it doesn’t matter how good the environment is and how good the food is without good service. The service at Silva’s is perfect! You are welcomed with a warm smile when you walk in. And the waiting staff are dressed professionally and are well groomed. They all are happy to serve you! You will never want to leave Silva’s. This restaurant will be the highlight of your week or weekend. Go try it!

This place has really stepped up their game in the kitchen and customer service. Being local for years we have been a few times but last couple times recently were SPOTON. They haven’t changed much inside décor wise and dont need to, it’s country! So happy to have a good local place… oh, a country place!

The best fine dining experience I have had in California. From San Diego to Weed I have indulged. Perfectly cooked, with complex flavors that work in perfect concert together. Six stars if I could give it!

My husband and I visited this restaurant for his 29th birthday last night. He knew of this places existence for a long time and had always wanted to go. I didn’t know it was there until about a month ago. I checked out their website hoping to get an idea of what I would like to eat. Their entrée options are limited to about 7 or 8, but they have at least 5 nightly specials every night that are not posted on the website. All the entrées sounded amazing, but I knew my husband was going to end up getting the Rib Eye Steak. Once we got there and I could look over the specials I decided on the Penne Pasta, penne with chicken and applewood sausage, roasted butternut squash, and fresh sage. We also order an appetizer, Monterey Calamari. Each meal comes with either soup or mixed greens. We opted for the mixed greens with vinaigrette. The calamari was cooked perfectly and was not overly greasy. The dipping sauce was also the perfect compliment to the calamari. Our mixed green salads were delicious with fresh mushrooms and just the right amount of dressing. My husband’s rib eye was cooked exactly how he asked and it was so full of flavor. My pasta was to die for! I have never had butternut squash taste so good! We passed on dessert because we had a cheesecake waiting at home, but their desserts looked amazing! Not to mention they serve Gunther’s Ice Cream. A lot of people have taken issue with the service, but I found it to be perfectly matched to the establishment. Was it a bit slower than I am used to? Yes, but it was okay because this place is meant for a nice, relaxing dinner. Our server(and the busser) were extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. They were attentive without being pushy. We will definitely be coming back… And having dessert next time!

Not sure what happened but tonight service was crazy slow. 10÷2÷15 My husband and I had a wonderful dinner. It was really nice to be able to have a full course meal, not feel rushed, and have excellent service. Food was amazing. I especially loved the crème brûlée. We will definitely be back!

I have just recently moved to the area and I was really excited to try the place out. I wanted to treat my father to a nice dinner since he was coming to visit and I haven’t seen him in a few years. I was utterly disappointed with the whole visit. From the service to the meal. The prices are ridiculous for the food that is served as well as the presentation. I have been in the Food & Beverage industry for over 15 years and it was such a disappointing experience. The service was lack there of, if we could find her or get her attention it would’ve been nice. I had to ask a few times for water refills and by that meaning leave the table and ask an employee and the second time ask the manager. I couldn’t believe how many different people it took and how long it took to bus a table. It took four employees including the manager, total just to clean off and reset a table within 20 mins. I knew this because we were so bored waiting for our meal my entertainment was restaurant watching. Once our server took our order she was MIA to order wine I had to flag down a busser who than said he would relay the order to our server. Then he comes back and says never mind she’s busy what was the wine you wanted I’ll just get it. It took about an hour to receive bread, appetizer and salad. Finally after asking again about our dinner for a party of 3 it finally came out, and there was nothing to brag about at all… My father and fiancé ordered the rib — eye which looked like a sad excuse for a steak with a small ramekin of beans and bland watery veggies. I ordered the filet which came with dried potatoes and beans as well. The filet was cooked right but so bland. So I asked for lemon wedges, butter. I used the butter mixed with lemon juice and salt and pepper and made my own sauce to put on my steak. I get the fact the location is «country», but don’t advertise high end dinning and high end cost without giving your guests the high end experience or high end quality food!!! I highly doubt my experience was just a fluke, therefore I will probably never go again.

Food= Gross. Service= Slow&inconsistent.Besides the guys waiting around to fill your water/clear your table. Drinks= Barely any alcohol in them. Ontop of all these negatives it takes over 25 minutes to even order a drink, then another 25 for appetizer, then another 25 for bread and so on. We got our entrees finally and I asked for A1 since the ribeye was thin and chewy… I finally just broke down and dipped it in the canned chili they served with it instead since we never received the A1. Also, we got the bread with our entrees… Isn’t that suppose to be the first thing you get? The Brie, shrimp tostadas and steal skewers were decent which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. This place is overpriced, slow and disappointing.

Woah… The last time i was here was in 2012. Idk if its new management or what but ive decided to try it again, and i was so disappointed. They were out of bread when we got there and on top of that their mixed drink has minimal alcohol(its bad when i can chug down a margarita i hate mixed drinks). The food took too long to come out, my water was never refilled, and they didn’t bring me my a1 sauce. The appetizers were good though. We ordered the brie, beef skewers were soo tender, and the shrimp tostadas. They were delicious, but the entrees were a little off. My ribeye tasted like low grade meat(hence the reason i asked for a1 sauce that never came). And the soup of the day which was zucchini curry soup was distasteful. Heres the story in short, food is mediocre, service is slow, and its overprice!

If you haven’t been here you need to! This place is splendid! The staff is amazing, very nice, very sweet. The food is to die for. You have to try the pork chop and the grilled artichokes. they have this amazing dessert tray as well at the end and it has a variety of amazing desserts. I had the blackberry cobbler and I cried. No joke. I cried it was so good. It was the best cobbler I have ever had. The chef is incredibly nice as well, he came out to say hello and he was just the sweetest. You must go here! You will not be disappointed.

First time here after living in Elk Grove for over 12 years. Always passed by it so we finally tried it. The hours and days aren’t too good for a restaurant. Also you cannot make a reservation before 4pm because nobody answers the phone and the answering machine does not take messages. We arrived at 6pm which was our reservation time and waited only a couple of minutes. They weren’t crowded. The water came quick for the table. We ordered appetizers of shrimp tostadas which were so tiny the waiter didn’t see one last piece he almost tool the plate away. Also the calamari which was good. My friend ordered the Lamb but first asked the Waitress how big they were which she motioned like inch and a half think and 2 pieces with 2 ribs. When it came out, it was really a small portion. Not worth the price but he said the flavor was good. I ordered the Ribeye medium rare and it came out correctly cooked. My other friend tried the Pork Chop and she said it was good. My wife tried the fish and it wasn’t dry and she liked it. Overall the food was good but the portion is way, way too little for the price. They need to give more potatoes and vegetables. Now the service: NOTGOOD for this type of restaurant. We ordered an Ice Tea and Lemonade which didn’t come out until I had to ask another waiter. Then he only brings 1 straw and forgets to bring another one back so I had to ask again. My Ice Tea glass was empty for a while and again had to ask for more. In total I had to ask 4 times for more Ice Tea because the whole glass is filled with ice so you don’t get much actual tea. Everything was slow and the Waitress took a long time to bring stuff out. When we were leaving the lady at the front didn’t say a thing to us, not even a Thank You which is a reflection on their service. NONE of us would go back because the service was poor and there is NOVALUE for the price and portion!

I don’t often use the 5 star rating. Here is why Silvas gets it. Homey and welcoming atmosphere, attentive apprentice staff with a genuine nature. Upscale selections and preparation without the city slicker price tags. Portuguese chef with a farm to fork menu that will leave you pleasantly surprised. Homemade cobblers and pies seasonal and a treat when available. Not many dining choices out here east of EG/Wilton area so we are thankful to have such a Gem in our backyards.
