Spirit Halloween Store

We always talk about getting our costumes early but here we were once again waiting until the night before. First we tried to go to Party City. OMG! What a nightmare! We never made it past the parking lot. We drove across the street to the Spirit store instead. At least the parking lot was not a zoo.
There was a long line to the cash register but the store itself did not appear to be overcrowded. We did not have any problem finding the pirate stuff and I even found a costume that was plus sized. The stock was pretty low but it was also the day before Halloween so that was to be expected.
The costumes were a little cheesy and on the expensive side but, with a little tweaking, we were able to make them work.

I was a little disappointed how small the Spirit store in Elk Grove was this year but that doesn’t knock their rating down any.
The moment I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the employees and asked if I needed any assistance. Upon discovery, I found that they had a nice collection of Halloween decorations, costumes, make-​up and even accessories. This place had all of the necessities if you’re going to throw a bash but it doesn’t exactly have all of the cool extras that’s going to make you stay and debate what you want to get. If you want to see more inventory, I’ve been to the one in West Sac next to the Nugget Market and that one has a lot of stuff.

They have a nice variety of things, but over priced & their customer service really sucks.
My 16 year old sister went in looking for a costume after school and was immediately told she needed to leave her purse by the front entrance so they knew she wasn’t going to steal anything!
Excuse me??? I would bet on anything that they would never ask an adult to do that with their belongings.
I can only wish I went in with her to experience this horrible customer service for my self.

Went in today to buy my son a costume and was told to head to the back to wait to be let into a fitting room. I waited for 10 minutes for someone to show up and no one did. So I took it upon myself to open the package and let my son try the costume. A few minutes later Mark shows up and says next time we need to wait before we try the costume on. I told him we were waiting for 10 minutes already. His response was «well I was in the bathroom!» Really??? That’s how you treat customers! No apology or anything. He also stated the accessories should not be taken out. And I tell him, it doesn’t matter cause I was plan on buying it anyways. He then tells me actually it does cause it’s store policy. REALLY!!! This guy needs to retake Customer Service 101 because he was so rude. Also I spoke with the cashier and she mentioned the numerous other complaints he’s gotten. Mark is really doing a disservice to your company and the customers who shop there.

They have a large selection but they are more expensive than City Hallowwen. We bought a hat at City Halloween for $ 3.99, the same hat at Spirit Halloween was $ 9.99, big difference for the exact same thing!

I went in today to try to find either cat ears/​tail or bunny ears/​tail set since my office is having a Halloween pot luck/​party tomorrow. I didn’t want to wear a costume since it would be to much of a hassle to deal with.
For a store that specializes in Halloween costumes, I was surprised to see that they didn’t have to much of a selection as far as what I was looking for. I think I was only able to find one set of bunny ears/​tail and that was it and there were several versions of the cat ears/​tail sets. I found some that I liked, but the girl working the register had asked if I had seen the faux leather set, which I hadn’t. She excused herself and got it to show me. I liked them a lot better than the original ones that I selected and purchased them instead. With her showing them to me, I ended up saving $ 5, which was great. She was very friendly and helpful.
In the past, I have been to several other Halloween stores and Spirit Halloween stores, and this one is by far the best. Especially with the lay out, selection, and the employees.
