New owner took over last fall. She has continued with the old favorites and has added some new products to the pastry case. It’s all good! Skip the chain bakeries and stop here for your cakes, pastries, pies, and bread.

Truly a traditional Bakery something we do not see much of here in the LA /​OC area.
Stopped by the day after Christmas to pickup a few goodies for my visit with a dear friend. Got a doughnut, was a tad on the heavy side for a glazed and half a doz Kolaczki cookies, they were superb.

I have ordered specialty cakes (wedding/​anniversary) twice now from Lakeland. I received courteous telephone service and wonderful service by the owner at face-​to-​face appt time. Free tastings and was always offered a cup of coffee or beverage complimentary while we discussed my orders. They were willing to work within my budget and were able to decorate exactly as I wished even without a photo to go by. Delivery of the cakes was on time and without issue. Both were very pretty and decent tasting.
I have also sampled their pastries after placing cake orders — scrumptious! I would patronize Lakeland again for a large order or just cream puff.

If gas was not so expensive, it would be worth it to drive the 90 miles from Chicago to Elkhorn simply for the baked goods prepared by Lakeland Bakery. To die for! Amazing donuts, pastries, cinnamon rolls and numerous other items that I can’t wait to try!
