The service and quality continue to impress me at this location, the ladies are always so friendly and welcoming! They really take the time to get your nails done correctly. Still my go-​to for nails. Easy and convenient

I have been going to Avalon nails for at least 5 years. Tran, Ann and Helen are the three technicians I have used. I usually ask for Tran because she is who I started with there and I just adore her! She has always done a great job and makes my hands a feet feel and look great! She also does an amazing french manicure! They are all wonderful, polite, and do a great job on my nails, I don’t have a problem using any of them. I have recommended them to many of my girlfriends and they all love the place. The prices are reasonable, the place is clean and the instruments are sterilized after each use. I could go to a fancier place (and I have) and pay much more for the «atmosphere», but I love going there and relaxing with all the friendly people that work there. I come out with exactly what I was looking for a great mani/​pedi and a relaxing visit!

This was my first (and last) visit to this salon. I made an appointment for a manicure but still had to wait about 15 minutes. The salon seems very slow and they have no problem to keep clients waiting long past their appointment times
I was shocked when I walked in to find a puppy running around. My first thought was that the puppy must belong to a client but it actually belonged to a nail technician. My manicurist was more concerned with her puppy than my nails. She would touch her dog and then go back to touching my nails, without washing her hands. At one point she had the puppy sitting in her lap while trying to paint my nails. I had to ask her to repeatedly touch up one nail that she kept missing a spot on. I felt as though she was taking an attitude with my request. Overall I am not impressed with the quality or service.

I go to Tran for all my waxing needs!!! She’s great at shaping my difficult brows and quick and efficient at bikini waxes.

I came here a couple of weeks ago for a MUCH needed mani/​pedi. I don’t have a regular place that I go to in Howard County so I did some research and decided to give this place a shot. It wasn’t bad, but I don’t think this is my new HoCo nail spot…
I walked in and had a very brief wait, which I was happy about. They had a good selection of polishes and I found exactly what I was looking for. Then they called me to the back for my pedicure. I sat in the chair and waited. And waited some more. Then a woman came over and turned the water on, but it was cold. Probably 7 or 8 minutes later I was able to flag someone down to change the temperature of the water. Another 7 or 8 minutes after that someone finally came over to start the pedicure. It was so aggravating! If they weren’t ready for me then I would have much preferred to sit out on the sofa and wait than to have an unattended ice bucket for my feet. Also the space with the pedicure chairs is really tight. When someone wanted to walk to the room in the back (presumably for waxing) they really had to squeeze by. And twice during my time sitting there someone walked in on someone else in the bathroom (which was right in front of me). Overall very awkward.
My manicure and pedicure were actually pretty good. The polish (not gel) stayed on my fingernails for over a week which is not the norm. And my cuticles looked nice. It’s a shame that the rest of the experience was just too much to overlook.

Fantastic. Friendly service, casual but professional. Nice fun atmosphere. I had to leave in the middle of my pedicure for an emergency and they were awesome about it, picked up right where we left off when I came back.

Tran is the best nail tech in the DMV! Traveling from DC every two weeks is worth the drive because my nails are perfect when I walk out of the salon.

I came here because they are close to my home. They’re great! It’s clean and unassuming shop. The staff is helpful and pleasant. Your comfort is a priority for them. And my nail tech, Ann is fantastic! Next time you go, ask for her.

I guess I just cannot understand how/​why Ellicott City-​108 area of Columbia just does not have an adequate nail place?
I tried this place today — just wanted a simple pedicure. I almost walked out, but I was already there. The place is filthy. The walls are dirty, the floor is dirty. Every chair in the place is either ripped or has dried polish on it OR BOTH.
My nail tech pointed to the pedicure room but did not show me the chair to sit in. I was in there waiting for 15 min. Another tech turned the water on. The pedicure itself was underwhelming. AND during the middle of the pedicure, the nail tech got up and left for like 10 min? I was in this place for a solid 40 min, and the actual pedicure lasted for 15 min. No thanks.

This place could use a good scrub down. It was cluttered and not inviting. Not the environment I want to get a pedicure and manicure. I can’t comment on the service because I don’t allow places to service me if they appear dirty. Just 10 minutes in here and I wanted to go home and freshen up. After being shown to the dark room in the back for a pedicure, I saw the questionable chair and I chose to leave.

Not a bad choice to get your nails done quickly and cheaply. My pedicure only cost $ 22. Their pedicure isn’t very luxurious (I thought their pumice «stone» was unusually rough), but they get the job done. It’s been three weeks and my toe nails haven’t chipped at all — probably a record for me! They take walk-​ins and were apologetic about the wait.
One reason I may not go back? I was sitting in the chair afterwards letting my nails dry when I noticed the flat screen on the wall was smoking! I hightailed it out of there after letting them know. I’m sure that’s not a normal occurrence, but it was unsettling nonetheless.

Avalon delivers very good manicures and pedicures for the most competitive price I’ve seen in the area. Some places will charge extra for exfoliation and callus remover. Um… what is a pedicure for if those services aren’t included? The pedicures include a menthol exfoliant and hot towels. The manicures include hot towels as well. Plus, the place is very clean and all of the ladies are really nice, not disengaged.
