Let me start by saying, I’m a fan. The last few times I’ve felt they may be slipping. They appear to have gotten too busy and have lost focus. I feel they may be more worried about table turns their food quality. The food is becoming diner quality instead of what I’ve had earlier in their existence. The place seems it needs a good cleaning starting with the restrooms.

Large restaurant with interesting industrial décor. I was very surprised there wasn’t a wait for a table on a Saturday morning. The service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious! I live in NC, and wish they had this restaurant here!

Bottom Line: Cute spot for brunch or lunch and a nice spot for a private party. Eggspectation is a comfortable spot for breakfast, brunch and lunch. The décor is cute and the food is good. Although not gourmet, I like that they have a wide variety of items on the menu, many of which are fresh and healthy. To get your day going, they offer specialty coffees but to really get your day going, I recommend a boozey drink from the bar. For dishes, I like ordering the crepes here because its not something I would make at home and its not something I even get the chance to order out. My favorite crêpe is the chicken, mushroom and asparagus crêpe which also contains cheese and is covered with a sauce. As far as an egg dish, you can never go wrong with an eggs benedict. With so many yummy breakfast options, you can expect to wait for a table on weekends, mid-morning. Something less expected, at least for me, was the private party room. If you plan to have a crowd of 15 to 25, this is a nice way to contain your group and to get more personalized service.

Eggspectation is great for what it’s designed to be, but I do think they fall down when they veer from that too much. Eggs are in the name, they do know eggs, their focus is on eggs, so, yeah, when you go there, order the eggs. They have a huge selection of Eggs Benedict recipes, and I have not been disappointed by any of those when I’ve been there. I went there recently for Happy Hour, and did experience a few hiccups. They do have a great draft selection, which is posted on a large video screen behind the bar, with two more screens showing the Happy Hour deals on either side of it. The place was really hopping, but we did find an open booth for our group in the bar… sort of. The booths can seat six if you squeeze in, but we were seven. We managed to find a slightly larger booth in the far corner, but we found out that the booths against that far wall are part of the dining room, so the bartender had to close out our check and hand us off to a waitress. No big deal, but it is a poor layout choice. The Chili Lime Wings were on a Happy Hour Special, but we should have stuck to the eggs. The wings were tender, but had no crispiness to them at all. They were slathered with a sweet sauce that did not have much heat or much limeyness either. They were just particularly bland and cooked exactly how you don’t want wings to come out. I did order some Sweet Potato Fries and was pleased to see that these were prepared shoestring style and weren’t those flat ones you get everywhere. If it’s just a few people, you can enjoy the bar, but the dining room is their focus and their star.

Usually always good. I like the variety of foods and their seasonal menu. I wish they’d bring back that dish with the crab and jasmine rice. I have four stars as overall always amazing and never issues. Just sometimes once in awhile the server is slow to come to us, or little issues here and there. If they brought that dish back I’d be ordering it almost every time. It’s easy to bring your family and out of town guests here as there’s something for everyone.

Oh wow! This place is fantastic!!! The uniqueness of the menu is very impressive. I came here with a friend I haven’t seen in a while and our waiter was totally cool about us taking our time and they were so nice to her baby son that she brought with her! We started with a Brie pecan appetizer, oh man, wow was it great. Sliced baguette with butter parsley garlic and honey then a chunk of melted Brie then an apple slice then a pecan! Wow! I had the steak and eggs, it was perfect, nice tender steak cooked perfectly. Sara had the Chesapeake eggs Benedict, looked SMAIL and she loved it! The place is a bit pricey, but it’s totally worth it!

Nice and eggy ^_^ My boyfriend and I came here to meet his father, wife, and sisters from Chicago. The inside was pretty packed, I was surprised that we had a table within 20 minutes! The name itself explains it all really lol. I ordered the Eggsuberant and it was pretty good, I didn’t finish everything but I enjoyed it. My boyfriend had some type of french toast, it was pretty good. The interior is nice, our server was great, he knew the whole menu from top to bottom. He was very accommodating with our special request. I probably would come here again if i’m in the area.

I have been coming to Eggspectation since I was a retriever, hh has always been my go to thing. Oddly enough, I have never had their breakfast. They have pretty awesome HH specials from pretty much half price apps, and drank specials. On certain days they will have specials on specific menu items as well. I’ve had just about all of the bar food that they have offered, from the quesadillas to the crab dips, sliders, ravioli and things in between. I have always been satisfied, and my wallet has been happy because it hasn’t broken the bank. Service is always on bar, as the servers have been attentive and fun! One of these days, I will come and actually try the breakfast…

First, as an appetizer, we got the wings. Average. The sauces were bland. Next, I ordered the Cajun pasta dish. It was good; however, once I started eating, I noticed that they left off my crawfish, which is a part of the dish. To be fair, they offered to remake the dish, but 1) I don’t like to send food back in the kitchen(I immediately think about that old Eminem music video that had onion rings. Weird, I know), and 2) It would be completely wasteful to throw out a large dish of otherwise good pasta. So, they brought me a side of my missing crawfish in the sauce to add into my dish. Next, here is where I was grossed out and why my review is so low. We got our soon-to-be toddler the chicken tenders and fries. The smaller tender we broke into pieces and checked to make sure it was done before feeding our son. The fries and the chopped up pieces were just fine. Then, I decided to be greedy and taste a tender, so I grabbed the larger piece. As I bit down, the texture was odd, so I spit it into a napkin. I further inspected the chicken tender and noticed it was undercooked. What the what? Appetite was completely ruined. Now, what if I had fed that piece to my son? Luckily, so far, I haven’t gotten ill from biting that piece. Anyway, we returned the tenders for obvious reasons. The manager never came to apologize himself; he just told the waitress to let us know that the tenders were removed off of our ticket and gave us some smoothie coupon that could be used for a future purchase. Um, there won’t be a next time. Perhaps if I hadn’t had such a crappy food experience, my review would be completely different. But, as the old saying goes, «If ‘if’ was a fifth.»

What an egg-ceptional place!(See what I did there.) But no, really, not only is the customer service great, but the food is equally as amazing. I’m completely addicted to the benedicts. I had the California Dreaming Benedict the first time I came here, and a Florentine Benedict the last time I came here(with a side of turkey sausage). Delicious. Poached eggs were a new thing to me and they made it a positive first experience. The adult coffees are also very good! I had the Eggspectation and it surprisingly wasn’t hard to drink. I’ve only been here on the weekends, but it does get fairly busy so be prepared to wait maybe 20−30min. It’s definitely worth the wait. The menu offers everything for everyone. There are burgers, sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, crepes, all sorts of drinks, etc. Oh yes, and even vegetarian options. Something to make everybody happy! Don’t miss out on this little gem or you will be sorry!

Eggspectation has a bar! I’ve never been here for anything besides breakfast or lunch but they also have a larger menu selection. I’ve never been here without a line. So expect to wait about 30 – 60 mins depending on your group size. And it’s freezing in here. I always need to wear my jacket while eating — not sure what is up with this but everyone is usually cold. They have large portions and I love their breakfast potatoes and frittata. My favorite is the mimosas but they are way too small. Why can’t they be the size of the bloody marys(it even has a huge celery/carrot/bacon snack on it)?

I was not impressed. Long wait times, super slow service, pricey… I’m not sure what all the hype is about. I had lobster & grits and chicken & waffles. Both were just mediocre, no wow factor about them at all. But I do have to admit the coffee was really good. Our server was friendly, but it took her forever to come get our drink orders. Then it took another forever to get our drinks. The longest part was waiting to get our food. I think it took at least 30 minutes from the time we ordered to get our food. I doubt I will ever go back.

In the past I would’ve given 5 stars but after visiting a couple times over the years the service and food have gone downhill. The service was stellar in the past when my family and I lived in Columbia however now that we no longer live there and fly into MD ever so often and stop by this place we noticed that the service has gone downhill along with the portion size and taste of some of our favorite dishes. Crab omelette I would say you couldn’t go wrong with but after my last two visits it’s just not cooked correctly anymore. I always get egg whites and there is a method to making an omelette of egg whites that all cooks should have knowledge of. The items that are consistent is the waffles they are AMAZING, the potatoes, the turkey bacon and the mimosas. Maybe the cooks changed out either way they could easily be 5 stars if the consistency stayed positive from food to service.

I absolutely love eggs, but the red velvet pancakes were calling to me on this fateful day. I kind of wish they hadn’t. The stack I got was monstrous. The pancakes themselves were pretty good, though maybe not as fluffy as I had hoped. What ruined the experience for me was the cream cheese icing. I should’ve known better since it was icing, but it was sickeningly sweet, and the chocolate chips on top made it worse. At that point, the height of the stack became a disadvantage, because it was nearly impossible to cut straight down. Instead, I ate the ridiculously sweet top half, and then the somewhat plain bottom half. Kind of serves me right for not ordering eggs at a place called Eggspectation. I tried a friend’s potatoes and they were SUPER delicious though. Also, this was the best mimosa I have ever had. For real. They worked some magic on that thing. I just wish it hadn’t been $ 5 for a champagne flute or I would’ve ordered 5. Try a mimosa.

Tired of the usual breakfast chains? Eggspectation is your go to find for a delicious variety of omelettes, sweet and savory menu items and flavorful espresso beverages. The presentation of the food is carefully crafted and they stay true to the seafood tone offering up meat heavy crab cakes. The environment here is warm and welcoming. There is quite a bit of a wait because the food taste great but you are welcome to order something light at the bar. They will also send you a text your table is ready. The menu options don’t stop at pancakes, there’s also a range of burgers, mimosas and desserts to enjoy. They are totally more than just eggs!

I came here on a Friday morning for breakfast with my sisters. For a moment we were put off by their 20 – 30 minute wait but, I heard it was worth it. Upon being seated my eyes danced over the menu. So many awesome selections but, I had to remember I wanted breakfast. I finally settled on the lobster grits and also opted to add the shrimp. It was an additional 2 bucks. I also ordered the classic mimosa and a bacon bloody mary. The grits with lobster & shrimp was sooo good but, I don’t agree with the 2 buck up charge if all you get is 4 small shrimp. Even at market value, you’d get more small shrimp than that. And considering how much Lobster you get in this dish, I can say I was surprised at how frugal they were with the shrimp. Anywhoots, the grits were super creamy and deelish. No complaints when it came down to actual taste. Now the drinks… The Mimosa was ok. A little on the sweet side but, tolerable. The potency was ok but, at 5.99 per; I switched to something that would give me that brunch buzz I sought. Which led me to the Bacon Bloody Mary. It was very deelish but, needed just a tinge more vodka. When having a Bloody Mary one tastes for several things. Is this mix homemade or pre-made bottle, the taste of the actual liquor in it and the spiciness. For about a total bill of 38.00, I was somewhat satisfied. I’d visit again but, may skip over the drinks or sit at the bar and make friends with the bartender. :) ps. our server was super fast, super sweet and super courteous. :)

My 4 or 5th time here, but my first Unilocal review. I would compare this place for breakfast tons Miss Shirley’s. It’s about the same quality and quantity, but the taste of the food to me is a little better. I have had the pleasure of having a few different omelettes and even the spuds and have been pretty pleased. The service is great and the décor is a little more artsy than other places. The only draw back is the prices, which are pretty high compared to other breakfast-like establishments. However, if you can catch either a or groupon deal, jump on it!!! They sale out very quickly and the savings are worth it when you come here.

I had brunch here with my mom earlier — we were super excited because we read rave reviews about this place. We were hoping to find a sweet breakfast joint in the area! I gave this place three stars for their Classic Eggs Benedict. It was a truly delish dish — definitely the high point of the experience. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the hollandaise sauce was on point. The service though? Uh, zero stars. Seriously. It took freakin’ 45 minutes for two dishes, and it wasn’t even the lunch rush! On top of it all, my mom ordered The Californian(panini with grilled chicken, brie, avocado, and tomato), and our waitress brought her some random dish. When I told her the order was wrong, she said I had ordered The Californian Dream. What the eff? We had a whole convo about the accompanying fries! 45 min. earlier… Me: please don’t salt the fries that come with the sandwich! Waitress: sure, no prob. I totally understand that people make mistakes. I didn’t really care that she botched the order — even though I was hangry — but she should have at least apologized! I mean, she made me feel like I was inconveniencing HER! In fact, I ended up apologizing because I felt awkward about the whole situation. Big ugh. Then when the sandwich came out, it totallllly sucked. Ingredients were fresh, but there was barely any filling. A very sad panini indeed! Conclusion: bomb breakfast food. Just pray you don’t get stuck with a betchy waitress.
