I had gone to Dr. Pearson in high school when I had typical teen acne in my T-Zone area. He helped me then with his diagnosis and he helped me recently when I went to seek assistance with dry skin. I had assumed it was just the change of climates from living in California for 5 years to returning to my native Maryland frigid miserable winter temperatures, but it turns out it was just eczema. He prescribed a crème that helped within days, which is a shame since I waited so long to go see him. I had been using Aquaphor which was probably hindering more than helping. Anyway Dr. Pearson is a friendly doctor. He left it up to me if I wanted to return for a follow up. He has a straight forward but agreeable bedside manner(I was also diagnosed with rosacea but since my cheeks look rosy and it isn’t extreme I decided not to proceed with any further treatment). He was helpful in answering my questions as well as offered some anecdotal marriage advice when I told him I was getting married in the fall. He has two receptionists, one who checks patients in, and one who schedules appointments closer to the examination rooms. Both were helpful and friendly. I was able to get an appointment the next week which was great for my schedule. I will be back for any further dermatological needs.

I originally went to Dr. Frederick’s office a few years ago before my wedding to clear up an issue I was having with acne. His office was being renovated but the office staff on the phone failed to tell me that. So when I showed up, an office worker from another office told me and got me their address. Well, I don’t know if he was on vacation or what, but they had given me an appointment with Dr. Carolyn Pass. Fine, whatever– I just wanted to see a doctor! Fast forward to several years later. The acne issue is back and I’m trying to get ready for beach season. Well, I call and make the appointment and the woman tells me the soonest appointment at the end of the day is in 2 months! WHAT?! She ended up giving me a 1:15pm appointment, so I took the day off of work. I got to the office around 12:45 and ended up waiting until 1:40 to even be called back into a room! Then it was another 10 minutes or so before anyone came in. But that person was the receptionist looking for office supplies. Ugh. Finally, the doctor came in and basically told me that I was a liar and that the original situation never happened(because he’s been there since the 70s). Again, whatever– I just need medical help. He proceeded to prescribe me a MONTH of antibiotics. For a slightly annoying acne problem. Seriously? This is why there are antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria, people. His one saving grace was that he did recommend a good lotion for my dry skin. But no, I won’t be following up with him in a month. And I’m not filling that prescription. You’re better off finding another dermatologist. I will be next time.
