When in Ellijay, this is definitely a place you should check out for lunch. It’s a small tea room, hidden out of the way, attached to the back end of an antiquities store. The owner and her young assistant are the only staff, and they’re both incredibly friendly and welcoming. You truly feel like you’re in your grandmother’s kitchen as a child. The atmosphere is very homey and the food, coffee and hot chocolate are phenomenal. They specialize in homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts. I’ve had the grilled cheese sandwich, the broccoli cheddar soup, chili, cornbread and coconut cake and I can say honestly that all were some of the best I’ve ever had. The chili and cornbread in particular will make you seriously consider ordering a second helping to go. Just to give you an idea of how amazing the staff truly are, we were given second helpings of everything, without asking and without being charged! I was blown away. Check this place out, you won’t be disappointed.
