Being from California I’ve had a difficult time finding a decent tri tip roast. I went into C&C looking for one thing and came out pleasantly surprised. Not only do they have tri tip cut the way I grew up eating them, but they have these amazing looking steak tips that I just had to try. I went back today with my boyfriend and was greeted with the same enthusiasm as I was the first time I entered the store and walked out with three different varieties of marinated steak tips. I just got finished eating dinner and I have to say that not only was the customer service amazing but the steak tips were the BEST I’ve ever eaten around here. I highly recommend C&C Butcher and I will absolutely return for more of the same.

Last year I met some locals that brought over these steak tips that everyone at the bbq loved. Caribalo has got to be one of the best marinated steaks in the area! All of their steak tips are top notch, actually! Delicious stuff. Recently have tried some of the jalapeño brats that are also quite delicious. The chicken is very tasty, but I never really get it because the steak tips are staring at me .I can’t get enough of this place, have never been disappointed. I drive 30 minutes each way just for the meat that is available here!

For New Years I ordered a standing rib roast from C&C because I wanted something special for my dinner guests. I really received an excellent SRR education and a recipe that I followed«to a T. » All of us agreed it was the best steak any of us had ever eaten.(When I opened the package, the cut was so beautiful I almost cried.) The folks here are so knowledgeable and so helpful that I truly believe my dinner was that much more spectacular than if I would’ve shopped at Dierbergs or Schnucks because of the meat wisdom I received! I don’t understand the other low star rating for«half empty cases.» I went there for something specific and special, and they had it.(cheaper than the chain groceries too). Obviously they know how much they sell, so their inventory matches. I’m glad they keep waste down. Means they’ll be around longer. Love this place and was glad to support my neighborhood craftsman.

I have been there a few times and have always been greeted with a smile and a full display case. Not this last time though. The ONE meat I wanted they were out of due to a malfunctioning machine. The guy behind the counter said it would be fixed tomorrow — they open at XX and it would be fixed by XX+15. As I left I thought why not get there earlier and have the case full for customers? Oh well. Left empty handed. Other than that I would recommend the House Tips. Family can not get enough of them!

I absolutely love this place! My husband and I are addicted to the house and garlic steak tips. We shop there weekly, they have excellent quality beef and chicken, we haven’t been let down once.

Like many of the other reviewers, I have tried the marinated meats, all of which I found to be very good and well priced too. I have also tried the rib eye, tri-tip, beef round chuck, pork loin, & capone. All were delicious and I plan to be back.

I’ve been back a couple times to use Groupons and I just have to say, this isn’t your«normal» butcher shop. Every meat case is virtually empty. I guess you have to ask for meat to be cut to your specifications, but I’ve not done that. I get the House marinated meat and chicken that’s in plastic bins in a meat case. The marinades are: House, Terikaki, Buffalo, Cajun, Carribean, Burgundy and Caribalo(a Caribbean and buffalo blend). Meat choices are chicken and steak tips. With the House chicken, each chicken breast is nearly a pound. Those must be HUGE chickens. I oven-roast it, and it’s fine and tasty — and very juicy. I guess that’s what the marinade brings to the table — juiciness — because it’s not much flavor. The other marinades of either chicken or steak tips are equally mild. But they make for juicy meat. They’ve got Boar’s Head deli meats and cheeses; many flavors of bratwurst from Hermann; produce; and all manner of sauces, mustards and rubs.

I don’t know if C&C is on its death spiral but it sure looked like it is on the edge of crash and burn. I am a meat man and a meat man knows his meat. This is not a meat mans place. Two sets of meat cases with nothing in them. The items in the meat cases are spread out to give the appearance of more inventory but really just a sad statement on having no inventory. For instance the display for NY Strip steaks had ONE steak. I asked for a certain cut of meat to the lady behind the corner. She told me she never heard of the cut but would ask the butcher. Yikes. The butcher does not come out but tells her to say we don’t sell chuck so therefore we don’t have the chuck eyes. OK I am on board that you don’t sell chuck beef at a butcher shop. Really I am very understanding. I am so understanding I wonder where in the heck their hamburger comes from. More cryovac? To sum up. Not a butcher shop that can remotely compete with the supermarkets and the other butcher shops in St. Louis.

If this is a butcher shop I’m the man in the moon. This is someone who sells a product supposedly popular on the east coast-marinated sirloin tips. They are also a source for a limited selection of Boar’s Head lunch meats & a small selection of Boar’s head cheese(mostly processed sandwich variety). The rest of their cases are sparsely filled: 5 bowls of deli salads, a few sad filet mignon, anout a dozen frozen sea scallops wrapped in a piece of bacon(2.25 each!) and they were frozen! There were a couple small mounds of ground meat(about enough for 3 – 4 hamburgers) marked sirloin. When I inquired at the fat ratio I was told 30%(at $ 4.99/lb). I asked if they had any ground round. I was told the only ground meat they carry is trimmings from the«famous» sirloin tips. A butcher that doesn’t have ground beef? There was some stew meat(again a very small quantity) but it looked fattier than your average super market. Pork chops? Nope. Though they did have a pork butt. When I asked questions, the two young people behind the cases seemed clueless about the products they carried. When I asked if a type of Boar’s Head ham was the only smoked ham they had I was told they had mesquite turkey. Either the guy wasn’t paying attention to what I was asking or he thinks turkey is the same as ham. Irritating. I then asked about Percorino Romano & Parmesano Reggiano. Young guy(who obviously doesn’t even know what I am asking for based on his inability to say it) says no-they have a limited number of cheese they can carry because of agreement with BH. I pulled up their website on my smartphone because I was sure they had been listed. Yes, there they were. At this point a 40ish man with facial hair comes over & he confirms they don’t carry it. I show him my phone with their website displayed & he seems quite put out that I am questioning them not carrying it. He rather curtly replies, «Hey, if it doesn’t move, we don’t carry it. We need to update the website, I guess.». Yes, your website is in need of updating because it is VERY misleading. Based on his statement I would have to say that very little sells in their establishment based on the inventory they seem to regularly carry. To call this place a butcher is an insult to all REAL butcher shops. The only redeeming quality was the older woman who was at the cash register-with not a whole lot to do.

I bought the groupon for C&C Butcher and sat on it for a while. It’s close to my work, but I never seemed to have the time to go. Last Friday I went on a whim because neither me nor my husband knew quite what to do for dinner. So we decided to stop in and wander around. We bought some steak tips and Boar’s Head Roast Beef. I love Boars Head, so I knew I was getting something good. The steak tips were amazing! I’ve never had such tender, delicious meat. It was literally tender enough to cut with a fork after being cooked. I’m a fan and plan to go back when I have time again. I want to try some of the other marinades and specials they have. Thanks for having such a great product!

As a foodie and amateur cook, I am always looking for more for less. I believe that I have found that in C&C. The staff was helpful, informative and pleasant. I got the marinate sirloin(cajun) very good. I tried their home smoked bacon. Very thick — I like it thick — but this was even thicker than thick. Mild smoked flavor. I also checked out their prices and they seem to be cheaper than the big grocery chains and better quality too. I will be back.
