Look at your good closely because it may not be what you ordered. This place has a pattern of switching key ingredients listed on their menus for inferior quality items. When confronted the manager admitted the practice but said«we don’t do this all the time».

Clancey’s pub has a great old school environment; myself and colleagues make Wednesday night our weekly event. Whether it’s Paddy’s or Powers Irish whiskey or the Guinness, the servers Amanda and Sarah are TOPNOTCH! They make US feel like it’s «Cheers» where everyone knows your name. The food is very good and very reasonable. This will always be my Wednesday place. Fred Polk loyal lover of Irish pubs.

Have been going to Clancy’s since 1990. Over the past few years, the parents have retired and turned the business over to one of their children who is seldom there. The place has seriously gone down hill. All of the servers who worked there for years are gone. Food quality is fair at best, use to be superb pub food. Stopped in on a Friday night. Use to be packed like sardines, now only a handful of people sitting at the bar, the bartender is the only one there besides the cook. It’s a shame because it is in a prime location to pack every night. Last night my wife suggested we meet there for dinner. Reluctantly agreed because the past few times were not good. She had got there before me, had gone to the bar and took a drink back to a table. I came in, sat down. 10 minutes later, no one had yet to acknowledge our existence, we paid for one drink and left. We miss the old Clancy’s, but won’t be going back.

I’ve been coming to this place since 1987. To start, the bartender was sitting at a table with friends and another waitress. A different waitress kept calling him until he came back to the bar to take my order. He just seemed quite distracted. They put blue cheese and bacon on my cheeseburger just like the menu stated. No lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, etc… And they didn’t heat or toast the bun. The only reason I gave this place a two stars is its my late father in law’s fav pub next to the plant he helped manage. I hope someone takes the time to read the reviews, and can help save this place…

I love Irish pubs and this one does not disappoint. It’s a cozy atmosphere, and the food is good. I had the pulled pork and it was delicious.

This is the best pub in town. I started out by only going there for the wings on Wednesday, which are the best I’ve ever eaten, now I go several times a week because of the friends I’ve made there. The food is good and the staff is better.

Went back on a $ 1 burger night. Oh no! Right? Everything was great, with the exception that they ran out of their fantastic onion rings. The place was packed on a Thursday night, lots of retired couples and families. Service was actually pretty good. Really more and more this is becoming our neighborhood grill.

Went for $ 1 burger night and did not expect much. The burger and fries were good. The onion ring app was disgusting onion straws not rings in a pile of grease. Service was extremely slow buy friendly. Waited 15 minutes and then had to grab a server. Why staff two servers on a busy night? Staff properly and people will return. Why serve soda in an 8oz plastic cup or Styrofoam cup? that needs to be refilled numerous times??? Maybe invest in some good reusable larger plastic cups?

Umm highly concerned about an Irish pub that doesn’t know what a Black and Tan is. nor has Bass. The food was nothing special.

This is a great establishment with darn good grub. They have excellent fried fish… their onion«staws» are the bomb. Like blue cheese? Get the blue crush burger, or blue crush chicken… delicious. I have been a fan for 20+ years.

This place is a hole in the wall but it’s the closet drinking hole to my house. They have $ 1 burger, $ 1 fries nights twice a week(Monday & Thursday I think). The burgers are really good. They just put out onions, tomatoes, pickles, mustard, mayo, ketchup and you dress your own burger. The burgers get 5 stars. The rest of the menu gets 3 stars — nothing very special. Servers are friendly enough. Patio is nice in good weather. I recommend going on the $ 1 burger night.

Very nice place. Feels like a nice neighborhood bar. The food is good and a good value. We had the pretzel bites as an appetizer which were enjoyed by all. Dinner was 3 of us with burgers, one a Reuben and one grilled chicken. The food was all good. The burgers were slightly overcooked for my taste and not offered a desired temp when ordered. The fries and chicken lacked seasoning. Easy to fix, but most cooks /chefs know to season fries when they are hot out of the fryer. Really like the place and will come back. Wish them a lot of continued success.

Dollar burger night? Sounds great, right? Well… I’ve been coming to Clancy’s for about 15 years, and I have watched, over the last five or so, as the place has taken a tremendous dive. The quality of the food has fallen, and the service is. well, the service the last half dozen times we’ve been is appalling. Appalling. Beer? Whatever you want, chances are they’re out of it. This has become a running joke between the fiancée and me. Burgers are so-so, even with the low expectations one should have for a dollar burger. Usually dry, overcooked and cold… yes, cold. That’s the one unforgivable thing I can’t stand in a restaurant. Your lowest possible goal as an owner of a restaurant should be to serve hot food hot and cold food cold. Consistently, the hamburgers come out cold… and if you ordered cheese on them, the cheese will be congealed, sealing the top of the bun onto the burger, making it difficult to dress them from the communal troughs of condiments Clancy’s sets out on dollar burger nights, as if they’re feeding animals. The onion rings, though… oh…the onion rings are sublime. Lightly battered and fresh, they’re wonderful. But, of course, the last time we went, just last week(which we decided will finally be our last visit) the onion rings were served cold, too. Complain to a server? Hah! It is to laugh. Find one first. They flit around all over, then disappear for long intervals, pretty much only coming back to deliver the bill. And that, even above the cold food, is my major complaint with Clancy’s. The service is awful, unfriendly and pretty much not around. More ice tea? A sweetener? Mustard? Another beer? These onion rings are cold? Tough noogies. Find a server… and if you do, put up with the attitude. In short, years ago, this was a better place. These days, not even a dollar burger will convince me to return.

I love this place! Delicious burgers & fries. Love the old Tavern look. It’s no smoking now which I love & now I can breath. Yes it had an outside patio & I’m not sure why another reviewer didnt like sitting out there in November when it’s obviously cold. My advice then is dont sit outside when it’s cold or rainy. Anyway, I love this place & the only thing I would suggest is: please Clancys, make a website or better yet, a Facebook page.

My fiancé and I have eaten here and the food was pretty good. Porch seating would be great on a nice day or evening. service was good etc. When we went for lunch it was practically empty, and when we came back for karaōke it was also a small group of people, it was a mix of ages(we might have been the oldest, 40ish) but the few people that where there instantly became friendly and welcomed us. Everyone in the place was having a good time, no cliques, the 21 year old’s didn’t shun us old folks, kind of that everybody knows your name place. So check it out, a bigger crowd would be more fun. and like other reviewers said, beer selection is kind of small, but I don’t drink beer so what do i care.

Clancy’s is a great hole in the wall kind of place. Sure, it may not be very nice and is pretty old but that’s what makes it. Their specials are awesome– $ 1 burgers, $ 1 fries on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you’ve never been, check it out. Good hole in the wall bar and grill.

Clancy’s may be a 4 star bar but it is still a bar. I was here for the $ 1 burger night and it was an excellent burger. Having the table with add ons was nice to have and service was good. This would definitely be a good place to meet up with friends for good food and decent atmosphere.

Let me say that I’ve been coming to Clancy’s for 20 years. When the Wildwood area was just developing, this was my favorite pub between there and 270. But in recent years, things have gone seriously downhill. Last night, I went for dollar burger night(as I have many, many times before). We were seated next to the bar, right by where the waitresses pass through every 5 minutes to get their drinks/food. It took 15 minutes for anyone to come and ask us if we wanted something to drink. Ordered food and drink at the same time. …45 minutes later, random waitress drops off my two burgers that I had ordered(no fries) and no food for the person I was with. 15 minutes pass. Nothing. Random waitress(that had given me my food… kinda) walks up and asks if we want our check! I said«No, I would like the rest of our food, please.» The waitress that originally took our order comes by 10 minutes later with our food. So I got 4 burgers and fries, and they didn’t even notice. Immediately asked for my bill. Only paid $ 13 for everything(3 burgers, 2 fries and 3 beers), but the experience was not worth it. I will never be returning to Clancy’s. This place has gone downhill BIGTIME.

Great little Irish bar in Ellisville. Cheap drinks, cheap food and all around great time. $ 1 burger nights here are the best way to go for food, great burgers for an even better price. Have a decent selection of draft beer with some pretty decent happy hour specials. All in all I would say its one of the my favorite bars in West County.

Stop #1 on the Grover/Wildwood pub crawl. It’s a short tour, but it gets you home early. This is a rustic version of the Americanized«Irish» pub. As others have stated, the patio must be nice in the warm months, but that’s not an option on a 35-degree, spitting-rain November evening. The crowd seems like a fair mix of ages and I didn’t get the chill of hostility that often occurs when walking into a typical locals-only place. The staff were friendly enough and correctly poured our pints of Guinness, but $ 5 for a place of this type in this location was way high. Perhaps we should have gone for the $ 2 Bud Light Lime special… Oh, and they have a video-game version of «Bags,» I guess for people too lazy to play the real thing?
