One word, HORRIBLE! Where’s the patty? Coupon or not, it was absolutely yuck! I’m from the west coast so I wanted to try something we don’t have in Los Angeles. One thing I know, this place would not last if out there. The parties in the burger was do things! I couldn’t even taste it! All I tasted was the bun, lettuce and condiments. The fries it came with was horrid cold! The only thing good about this meal was the coke and the waitress was nice. Won’t be back if ever I’m in the area.

There has been multiple times when I have visited steak and shake at this location. During the day, I’ve never had a problem, but almost every late night experience has been very sub par. I have left before because of non service and that’s after waiting close to an hour and being patient. Tonight I was told to seat myself and every booth table was dirty. Server approached and asked for drink order and food order and I hadn’t even seen the menu yet. I asked for water and for him to wipe the table. He did. Got drink and food order. Now I haven’t seen him since. I’m sitting here writing this entire review while waiting for my check.

My wife and I took our daughter, son in law and three grandsons there after a soccer match on a Sunday. After traditional lunchtime(around 2:00PM) but not near dinner time. I would guess that the dining room was about a 1⁄3 full. Took over 30 minutes to get our food which was primarily ice cream sodas for everyone and a couple of hamburgers. Our waitress explained that she and her manager were the only ones that could make the shakes. The other wait staff were just hanging around not cleaning the tables so new customers could be seated, running food, etc. The food itself was fine and the shakes were great. I would try another Steak & Shake.

Stopped for lunch last Sunday afternoon. First, I needed to use the men’s restroom which, without question, was filthier than the filthiest gas station restroom I’ve ever seen. There was an eighth of an inch of dirty, yellow, urine-mixed water on the floor of the commode stall and in front of the urinal. Water was dripping from the ceiling tiles. I suspect those daring to use this pit stood back from the urinal to avoid the standing water below and the dripping water from above, and weren’t hitting the target. A piece of paper with bleeding«out of order» scrawled on it had apparently once been taped to the commode stall door, but was now soaking in the pee water on the floor. I went to the cashier’s station and asked for the manager which gave me a clear view of the grill area. It too was filthy. I told the manager, Casey, that the restroom was disgusting and needed attention. SHEARGUEDWITHME, saying they had a little leak and it was just water on the floor. «Excuse me ma’am, I know what urine looks and smells like.» She wanting to argue … me not … my guest and I left. A few miles down Manchester towards STL is another, cleaner and friendlier Steak ‘n Shake. I suggest you drive the distance and avoid this one.

Not sure if they were short staffed, but it took over 5 minutes to be seated, and then another 5 to be waited on, and then about 40 minutes until food was served!

Handling credit card while wearing the gloves that he was wearing to mop the floor. Worker didn’t know to remove gloves before dealing with customers. Over 15 minutes(10:30 — 10:47) to serve a sandwich at drive thru window. Order had to be corrected three times. Did not serve the shake that was ordered. Another 3 minutes to have the gal that was bagging food make a shake. She complained but made the shake. Burger not served correctly. Another two minutes to watch the gal look in three other bags for the right burger. After announcing she couldn’t find my burger. I handed my burger through the window to be fixed. About 5 more minutes trying to get the fix. The fix still wasn’t correct. Had to go inside for help. Inside the store another few minutes waiting to be waited on. Watching in disbelief as the manager that was handling raw meat walked over to dissect the burger to see for herself that the burger still was not prepared correctly. Another 20 seconds to fix. Now leaving with the right burger fully cooked but having been handled with gloves fresh from the raw meat. Manager didn’t seem to understand contamination. Time for training. Single star.

For a fast food burger, don’t think anything is better. Also good for chili 5 ways. Highly recommend this in the fast food category, way better than other burger joints including in-and-out for the Californians…

Going across country moving to California, coming from Cincinnati, OH. Just about the only decent place open on Easter Sunday April 92012 Decided to eat here, not really a fan of chain food company, it was the only place open, that looked decent. I order the chili 5 way. It was awesome. It had a great flavor. My sister also ordered it loved it. It had a great tasted of chili, onions we’re great pasta was fresh very nice to have extra cheese. not usually a fan of bean, but it was good. I was even be impressed, it was piping hot, as heat hot. Love the skinny Fry’s. Conner was our waiter. Did a great job on service our bill with 4 people was $ 44 I gave $ 10 for fast service. My friend Steve order grill cheese and a milk shake… looked good, also my sisters husband Ron order chicken Sandwich. I usually don’t give a 4 – 5 star to chain restaurant, but I will give 4 stars.

Should have known better. I went through the drive through becasue when we go in the service is so poor. Usually we drive another 3+ miles to go to a different location but this tiem we were lazy. We got burned again. Food was terrible, cold fries, burnt burgers, cold, Called manager to tell him and he ave us excuse that staff had a bad day the day before… really? Wont go back we learned our lesson.

A while back I gave a nice review to another location after i had my first nice SnS meal in years, it now looks like I have visited SnS for the last time. I visited this location over the weekend because my wife saw in the coupons that kids eat free on the weekends. Ok, kids don’t really eat free, but you can get one free kids meal with the purchase of $ 9 of food or more. I sit down and order pretty much the same exact thing I ordered during my last review and after a nice lengthy wait, which I am accustomed to, I get our food, but something seems wrong. Have have my hands grown over the past few weeks? Did I just go through a growth spurt at age 40? Surely I must have because the burger looks tiny in my massive hands! Damn, it looks tiny in my wife’s hands, and my daughters… wtf? Those bastards, they shrunk the size of the burger. They have started using smaller buns, smaller portions of meat, smaller portions of chili, smaller portions of sides, etc. Do you know that annoying habit that companies have of downsizing products but keeping the price the same? That can of coffee that you buy each week that used to be 32oz is not 28oz, or that box of cereal goes from 16oz to 12.5oz. Looks like Steak n Shake has been taking a few lessons. Steak n Shake, you are dead to me.
