We spent two nights above Mortons Moo in their AirBNB listing and the owners were kind enough to give us some ice cream to try even though the store itself was closed for the holidays. I can’t speak much for anything else but the ice cream was amazing! All homemade and delicious. I’d recommend!

Love Morton’s Moo ice cream! I had a scoop of cookies n’ cream and a scoop of blueberry. Highly recommend both! The ice cream is not overly sweet but just pure deliciousness. The place is super cute inside and out, which makes it a treat to visit when you’re in downtown Ellsworth. My family got a birthday cake to bring home, and that was so well-decorated with sprinkles all over the top and an oreo in the middle. The only negative was when we asked if they would write«happy birthday» on the cake, the employee said that would be a custom job and she could not do it. There was no one else in the store, and we had just ordered 6 ice creams plus a cake; it was poor service on their part not to simply write on the cake. Otherwise, delicious ice cream and a fun place to stop in.

This is the best ice cream place that I’ve ever been to. It wasn’t a hot day and I wasn’t craving anything sweet. My friends wanted to stop by so I figured, why not. I can eat some ice cream now and regret it later. No regrets with this place. The ice cream is that good. The waffle cones are made in-house, rolled and kept warm. It makes such a difference when your cone has that slight crunch, slight soft texture. Add the signature blueberry ice cream — this is what Maine is all about. This why definitely be a stop any time I go to Maine. Absolute must try /must have.

Worth all the hype. The fudge curmudgeon flavor was out of this world chocolatey! And with the homemade fudge on top — mmmmmmm! Would also recommend the butterscotch and Maine blueberry for those who don’t like chocolate as much as me. But really… so creamy it’s sinful!

Fabulous ice cream and Italian coffee. But more important, buy a lobster roll from«On a Roll» in the driveway. Ask for mayonnaise, butter, and a slice of lemon. Best lobster roll I’ve had all summer, and I’m on the hunt!

Don’t even bother with a single scoop — buy a pint! Better yet, buy a quart! Seriously — this is the best ice cream around. The atmosphere is great, the people who work there are so, so friendly. My husband and I go at least once/week!

This place is the real deal. When I treat myself to ice cream, it should be like Morton Moos!

Stopped here with a large group on the way home from Bar Harbor. Thanks, Unilocal, for the head’s up! Prices were fair(maybe a bit on the high side — $ 4 for a single scoop, but a slight discount for«kiddy size»). Everyone was happy with their flavors, though serving sizes were a bit on the slight side. I ordered key lime sorbet. This was tough for me because I’m a dyed-in-the-wool ice cream guy, but the sorbet looked irresistible. It was a good choice. The flavor was intense but not overwhelming. Possibly a little too sweet for some, but just right for me. Service was friendly and fast and the décor is outstanding(I particularly liked the model train circling overhead). Seating is a little tight, and watch that step at the doorway as you walk in! If you’re in town(or even in Bar Harbor) it’s worth the trip!

Excellent ice cream. Good flavor options. Amazing waffle cone. A little pricey for ice cream, but I’d get it again any time.

Holy cow way too expensive! Ice cream is pretty good but so not worth it! Husband got a single scoop for $ 4.00, my very small kiddie cone was $ 3.75! It’s ridiculous. Go to the store and save money!

Came here on a whim with my guy to grab a pint of ice cream for dessert. He raves about this place so I was dying to try it. They were having a sample night where, for $ 7 you can sample as much ice cream as you want… ASMUCHICECREAMASYOUWANT… FOR $ 7. I was almost tempted to skip dinner and just have ice cream for dinner… First– it is FREAKINGADORABLE inside. So cute! I would have loved to have stayed and hung out. We got the following flavors(mad props to the girl who fit 5 flavors in our pint!) –Pumpkin Chip(seasonal, awesome and just what you would expect, my fave) –Apple Cider(refreshing, cinnamon apple-y, and tastes like fall) –Grapefruit Gelato(tangy, tastes exactly like frozen grapefruit) –Chocolate Hazelnut(creamy and smooth, tastes like frozen nutella) –Mint Choc Chip(almost a sweet mint flavor, wasnt too impressed with this, but mint is my favorite so I am hard to please with that flavor) Try mixing the Apple Cider with the Choc Hazelnut… heaven! They seem to have a lot of other treats and my guy loves their coffee, so I look forward to my next visit when I can try some of the other items!

We stopped by for ice cream this afternoon. The ice cream was great(five stars) but the price was ridiculous! A single scoop on a cone was $ 4.00 plus tax and a kiddie cup(perhaps half the amount in a single scoop was $ 3.50 plus tax. By contrast at a take out near our summer home you can get a single scoop of Gifford’s, a very good Maine ice cream, for $ 2.00 and a double scoop for $ 2.50! I will award them one star for the exorbitant price and five stars for the excellent ice cream which results in an average of three stars.

Very nice atmosphere. Staff is very friendly and ready for special requests — we asked for mint flavored coffee and they made it right away, and they made it very well. Ice cream really tastes great here, true homemade one, totally different from all those chains of ice creameries. Wish we could just take it with us to Connecticut when this vacation is over.

One of the main reasons I drove through Ellsworth is because of this gem. It was DEFINITELY worth the detour. The ladies behind the counter were simply lovely and made our visit very pleasant! I indulged in the fudge curmudgeon and another one I can’t remember the name but it had chocolate, almonds and coconut in it. Both were delicious, and served in a homemade waffle cone, however, I liked the fudge one better just for the sake of texture; it was smoother, whereas the other one was chunky. Stop if you can, you won’t regret it!

Morton’s Moo is a place where you can find one of the best ice cream experiences because of the high quality products and the personable service from the owners and staff. After making a few turns off the main road, you come up to a two story house with red doors where you enter into a wild color splash interior along with ice cream flavors to invigorate your taste buds. My single scoop($ 3) of the homemade Maine blueberry was a true reflection of the natural tart and sweetness. Steve made every customer feel welcomed. There were customers who came in to enjoy desserts while sitting at the counter. My only regret … not ordering a double scoop! So stop by if you’re passing by from Acadia National Park or just because it’s that’s good.

Maine is known for lobsters, but another treasure of the most northeastern state is their ice cream. It’s fresh, delicious, and the perfect treat for summer. Best of all its a local product, and it doesn’t get any more local than Morton’s Moo in Ellsworth. It’s so homey that it looks like one is entering someone’s home through the front porch. Its a quaint little ice creamery with a lot of personality — colorful walls accompanied by a rainbow of ice cream colors and flavors, many of which are seasonal and listed on the dry erase board on the wall. There isn’t a ton of room for seating, but there are some high chairs at the counter. In terms of classic flavors like chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry, they’re all consistently delicious and creamy. Shoot for another interesting combination like the über popular Maine blueberry, which is smooth and more tart than I expected. In some circles, this might be considered perfection on a cone. I’d be inclined to agree. Morton’s is a family owned establishment and the folks running the joint are as nice as one can be. They’re generous with providing samples and are always working on something new. The moo of the Maine cows and the magnificent flavors of Morton’s have been a wonderful treat for an out of towner like me.
