If I had written ths review about a year ago, I would have given it 5 stars. But my last visit has been a disappointment. First of all we went for Sunday breakfast which is very crowded. It is very difficult finding parking. We had an elderly member of the family join us, a 94 year old woman who requires a cane to steady herself. There was a 20 minute wait with many people by the door standing and sitting on a bench. There were several young women. 20 and 30 years sitting on the bench. These women saw the frail 94 year old and did not offer a seat. Neither did the hostesses at the front desk. We had to ask for a chair. Seriously? Maybe put a sign stating priority seating for senior or disabled folks? Secondly, I had a favorite on the menu that I always was coming to eat. the Santa Fe Salad. It no longer is on the menu. The menu has changed quite a bit. it has downsized. Not only has the menu downsized, but the portion size has gotten smaller also. This place has gotten very popular and I think it has outgrown its location. Maybe look for a bigger location somewhere with a bigger parking lot and bigger space in general. I will give it a try again but if my next trip will be like my last. I don’t think I will make the trek anymore.

I like that the coffee carafe and water pitcher are left at the table. This location is a perfect for north and west suburban friends to meet. Easy to get to and very friendly waitress.

Love their food my favorite are the Santa fe roll ups and the California club. I’ve had most of their soups always delish. My daughter always gets the scrambled eggs, sausage & Pancakes. I usually ask for a different dressing on the salad because I don’t like their house.

I have been eating at one or another Egg Harbor for about 25 years. During that time I have become addicted to their chicken salad. Egg Harbor is easily in my top 5 places for lunch. Now, you may ask, is all this information really necessary? I’ll make my point. I ordered what I usually order, so imagine my surprise when I tasted tuna salad. People say a lot of things taste like chicken, but in all my years I have NEVER heard anyone say, «This tuna fish tastes like chicken.» Our server quickly apologized and removed the tuna. Then she came back and told me that WAS the chicken salad and did I want to order something else because if she brought another plate that was from the same batch, it would taste like tuna. My choice stands. The next plate was indeed chicken salad ~ no fishy taste, at all. Not being from Elmhurst I found this location a bit of a challenge, especially since there was a detour on York Road and I had no idea where I was headed. Leaving the parking lot, York Road is a one way street heading north. However, the cashier was kind enough to provide a route that would get me to southbound York. So, it was okay, at least they didn’t call me Louis.

This is a lovely place. A must for anyone looking for a nice breakfast in the burbs. The service is top notch — they have one of the largest staff to patron ratios I’ve seen. And it reflects well on the overall dining experience. The kitchen is fast, great quality food and they offer you a to-go cup for your coffee on the way out. This service model should be studied and replicated.

This is my all time favorite breakfast place. I’ve been going there for over 20 years now and have NEVER had something I didn’t like. The service in the Hinsdale location is always perfect. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

This is my go to place. I love egg harbor and have tired a lot on the menu and have not been let down. It seems to get really packed for breakfast during the weekend so I try to go during the weekday. The parking is a bit of a bummer since you have to continue to drive around down town elm guest to find a parking. This time around a tried a chicken club with avocado it came with side salad and diced potatoes. It was a quick lunch item something simple yet delicious. The chicken wasn’t too hard and the avocado was just ripe.

I was in the suburbs … yuck. haha ok ok I am partially kidding. Anyways, I was hungry and I wanted breakfast. Opened up my trusty Unilocal and Guess where I ended up! I ordered the Veggie Power Skillet. Two eggs over easy(per usu) and of course some coffee. Black. My boyfriend had the… actually. I couldn’t tell you. Because I was too busy stuffing my face. The food was really good! ANDTHEYHADGREATCOFFEE. I am always iffy on commenting on coffee, at places because I am always worried that I am going to come off like a coffee snob. And they give out Folgers! haha But I can’t help what I think tastes good! Whatever they are serving was really good. Our server was really nice! I think her name was Adriana? I wish I remembered. But she was really great, attentive, all the things great servers are. She was! If I ever find myself in Elmhurst. I will be coming back to this place. I didn’t give them 5 stars because it was good. However it was not mind blowing. If I am in the neighborhood, I’d stop by. But I wouldn’t go out of my way for Egg Harbor Also I wanted to snatch up those cute coffee mugs. Until next time.

4 ½ stars!!! I was trying to kill some time between landing at O’Hare and going to Ikea and Elmhurst was on the way. So I decided to check out the well reviewed Egg Harbor Café. Be minded when traveling there, due to York street turning into a one way, and no left turns off Robert Palmer, getting into the lot can be a bit tricky. Yet, it’s worth it. Parking lot offers free 3 hour parking for patrons. I was greeted and seated right away. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The décor is old fashioned like granny’s house, but it didn’t bother me. I bet some call it «homey». They serve breakfast and lunch here — I, of course, opted for breakfast. Harbor pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. My only retreat about my order is not upgrading to the thick cut bacon. The bacon I had was good, but perhaps I could have had a little more Bacon-liciousness(trademarked term. LOL). Pancakes are whole wheat which can be iffy, but here they were delicious AND served with warm syrup! Eggs made just right as well. It was really good. I also had tea which was served in a custom Egg Harbor mug. Kinda cute. Not an issue, but I did notice there were almost no people of color here. 2 Latino busboys, an Asian woman and her daughter, and myself with about 45 other white people. Doesn’t bother me, but I guess Elmhurst isn’t diverse. If that bothers you, you may feel really out of place here.

Super yummy food & great coffee. For the great service and excellent product quality it is very affordable. They have something for every type of person & every type if taste. This is an Elmhurst staple that needs to stick around.

On my last day in Chi-town this past July, I decide to skip the family reunion prayer bkfast(bcuz, really. who wouldn’t want to skip a sermon over bisquiks n bacon) and check out this place before hitting the airport. This place is great… Rooster memorabilia all over the place. great décor. yep i get it. eggs galore from all the roosters eFFin the hens obviously. Sooo wut kind of eggs i want? hmm I’m not a runny egg yolk fan. No sunny side up, no over easy, etc… for me. I want my eggs set… not running all over a plate. Rarely will i try. i did this time. So i figure, throw caution to the wind. Be a lil risky w/my digestive system before boarding a 3 ½ hr flight home and order eggs benedict for the first in my life. I went w/the Farmer’s Market Benedict– spinach, mushrooms, tomato n artichokes over muffins w/basil hollandaise. DAMN good dish. no time for pic… just dug right in. dealt with yolk going where it wasn’t supposed to go and the harvest potatoes were tasty as well. Crispy english muffin held up under the weight of the toppings and was very good. Eggs running wild and sauce with toppings all hit the spot. Damn, i may have to change my egg cooking ways. the veggies were great, crispy potatoes as well. Man…some cheesy grits woulda helped me sleep all the way home.

Went last weekend for breakfast and it was amazing! I have the red velvet french toast and it was practically to die for! They also have specialty coffee if you want to change up your morning routine. All of the staff members were very helpful and sweet. :)

I’m a fan. It’s usually swamped when I come for breakfast, but food is tasty and our server didn’t rush us one bit. Even though it’s a chain, it’s great for breakfast/lunch. I will return!

It is a cute breakfast /lunch spot in the heart of downtown Elmhurst city center. Good place to meet friends for a quick bite. I wouldn’t say the food is outstanding because it’s just standard food items for both breakfast and lunch. The quality of the food is very good and well prepared but nothing stands out as a meal I would have to repeat.

Love this place. Their patio is dog-friendly which is a bonus for us. They’ll even bring you a water bowl for your furry friend. Some of the menu is seasonal — come September, they start serving pumpkin pancakes. The best I’ve ever had!

Egg Harbor is okay — I usually get the Sam’s Swedish Pancakes. Went there this morning and ordered it as the combo, with eggs«over medium.» My eggs were definitely over easy and the white was extremely runny. When I let them know(because I don’t want food poisoning…), they took my entire plate(eggs, bacon, Swedish Pancakes) to give me new eggs… even though I would have liked to eat my Swedish Pancakes. My new eggs were better, but definitely had wet whites still in parts of it… not really over medium. For reference, I am not overly picky and never send eggs back… They truly did give me undercooked eggs twice and I picked at the less undercooked eggs. And I regret eating most of the second set of eggs because I feel sort of sick now, prompting me to write this review. They were very busy(Sunday 10:30 am) and we had at least three waitresses bouncing between our table. They were all sweet, but the service was bad because they were being worked so hard among lots of tables. Food and service are just okay. I won’t not go back, but I only ever go here when someone else suggests it. I also know to never order eggs because they undercook fried eggs, even over mediums that are supposed to have no runny whites.

Absolutely delicious! The only complaint anyone ever has is because there’s a wait on the weekends, that’s because it’s delicious! I hope to see more Egg Harbors expanding everywhere, they keep opening new locations and I love it! I usually get some meal combos because the food is so good I can’t settle on the what things to get. Highly recommended — only open to 2:00

So, my boo lives in the SUBURBS. WTF right? She says that this place is usually hopping but we got right in with no wait. It’s a huge place in the suburbs in a strip mall behind a freaking walgreens so you know I was rolling my eyes by the time I was parking. I talk so much shit about the suburbs and had just sassed the suburbs as having«no culinary interest for me». Quick cut to me chowing down on a down home breakfast meal. Biscuits and gravy with eggs. Also Bacon! They were really decent. The service was a bit spotty as we had 3 different servers so things tend to fall between the cracks. My boo had some kinda omelet which she was very happy with and they made small modifications with no protests. I will probably be back since the suburbs don’t have a vast variety of places to go.

Great breakfast, very fresh, tastes amazing, healthy options, reasonably priced, friendly and attentive staff, clean restaurant This place gets crowded, you’ll have to wait a while to be seated –on the weekends. But overall very good experience, every time

4 or 5 stars? I’ve been to enough EHC’s to know they have a consistency with deliverance. The food is decent, but the menu is wonderful. The menu offers a variety of healthy/healthier options. Also they have a great selection for the coffee drinkers.

There is a reason there is almost always a wait and it isn’t because the food is cheep. Breakfast with tip will run $ 15 to $ 18 a person — tip included. The reason for the wait is the good food. They’ve got the right formula. I had the special(whole wheat pancakes filled with apples and pecans, two eggs and four sausage). Plenty of food. The hot green tea isn’t so good. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Unilocal

Duck… duck…rooster! Roosters are everywhere in this place… like EVERYWHERE. I have been to another Egg Harbor location, but it was a while ago. I had forgotten how much they have on their menu! Breakfast alone consists of pancakes, crepes, skillets, omelettes, benedicts, and more! So many things to try… We ended up going with the Bavarian Benedict. Sooo yummy. Little baby potato pancakes topped with eggs, cheese, and sour cream. Plus it comes with bread and their berry preserves. I left stuffed and satisfied. The eggs were a little over done… but still edible. And the flavored coffee was REALLY good. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful as well. A good place to come for breakfast/brunch if you are in the area. Luckily they have a parking lot too(it gets full and it is only for 3 hours), so if you are lucky you don’t need to find a spot on the street!
