I tried their steak, lamb, and pork tacos, all in soft shells. I got some onions, peppers, and a side of green sauce to go with them. The meat in each taco was painfully dry, and I couldn’t taste any spice. Where’s the flavor?! The sauce didn’t help. I won’t be going back.

The grilled pollo and chorizo tortas are my favorite. Make sure you add the green spicy sauce and get some lime on the side. Chorizo tacos are also good. On some days they have horchata; I think it’s homemade!

Oh man this place deserves NEGATIVE stars! We ordered our food, the guy on the phone seemed to understand my boyfriend. We get our food, which is very wrong. We ordered nachos — no onion or cilantro(meat and cheese), tacos — no onions or cilantro(meat and cheese), and a burrito. The nachos were just a takeout container full of cold tortilla chips with cheese on top. No meat, their menu states meat, and they even asked what meat I wanted(beef). The tacos were only meat. Which ok, fine — you missed the cheese, I have cheese. The meat in these tacos was all fat. I could not even chew them enough to get them down. The burrito was awful my boyfriend said but correct. When I called to ask for new nachos, with meat this time, they told me that there was meat on them. I told them that no, there was no meat, that I was not calling and lying. At this point I did not want the nachos anymore so I just asked them to bring me my money back. I even told them I would save the ‘nachos’ to give to whoever brought my money back to prove I wasn’t trying to get free crappy food. They took down my number and never called or came back. I would never order from this place. The reason I waited until recently to order from them was because they did not have an A. Now that they do I still would never eat there. I urge you to eat somewhere else. Horrible food, horrible service, just horrible.

I tried the steak taco and pork burrito. Both dishes were bland. I like their bakery items better. The elephant ears, almond cookie, guava puff, cherry and pineapple puffs were fresh and outstanding. Each item is less than $ 1.00.

I tried the salted beef tacos this time and my boyfriend had a steak burrito. I waited to hear what the bf thought before I chimed in. He said that his dish lacked flavor. I still agree. Cilantro needs to add some seasoning or spice! And still no guacamole on my tacos! What’s up with that? :(

This review is for Fan #99. I’m getting tired of the same 8 taco fillings at every stand and restaurant. I’m even getting tired of the rare ones that I know seldom appear. Brain, head pieces, huitlacoche aren’t discoveries for me anymore, I want the unknown. El Cilantro has been in the making for at least 6 months. They put that bright sign up seasons ago, whetting my taco buds in anticipation of one of the best formulas for good, real food: a deli expanding to a restaurant. A couple of weeks ago I drove by at 1am and the lights were on. A family was ordering and the counter was functional. The menu showed basic items like tacos, burritos, tortas and salads; simple but forgivable. The thing that makes this taquieria different is that their steam tables are for tacos. My first time, it was stewed chicken in my taco with rice. My second time, it was eggs and steak in something similar to an omelet on my taco, and also carnitas. The carnitas were refreshing, they were what was essentially chopped pork. In the molding of pork fat and meat was also pieces of cartilage and tendon and more indigestibles that only support it’s authenticity. Then my third time I was introduced to papas rajas, which was potatoes fried with peppers. It was soft and crunchy and hot and soothing. I’ve never had that in a taco. Every time I’ve been there, I get something new. I love that. And they are open 24 hours. I got my new taco place.
