Great for lunch or dinner! Home cooked vibe, with great service! Amazing empanadas and I recommend the pig feet appetizer if you’re feeling adventurous. Came here twice with a friend who’d studied abroad in Argentina and she was impressed how authentic the dishes are. Haven’t gotten steak or seafood, but $ 20 can get you a full dinner with dessert(prices you can only find in Queens). Haven’t come across a wait yet. Definitely a hidden gem!

Having just returned from Argentina we went this past weekend with friends who had just returned from Uruguay. We brought our own Chilean wine. We had a variety of starters and main courses and desserts. The food was excellent — in particular the provoleta, matambre, entrana, and costillos. Service was prompt and friendly as was the maitre d. Very informal, lots of kids, packed(it was Saturday night after all). We also bought some meat to take home from the butcher in the store. Really worth the trip.

Not coming back! I will not recomend this place. My friends took me for my birthday and I was excited because they told me that this place was good. What a disappointment! The food was ok but we got the worst waiter. This waiter from Mexico(because I ask him if he was Argentinian) gave us attitute from the beginning, when we asked for recomendation for appetizers he rudely told me to read the menu. We asked for water 3 times and got it at the end, he never came to ask if everything was ok, at the end they charged us for the birthday piece of cake!!. I was very excited to try this place, very dissapointed at the end.

I always go here with my family, it has become our go to spot because we are never disappointed. It has the best may and chimichurri, and surprisingly great fries. We always order the white sangriaand its usually good too. I would definitely recommend this place!

The free cheese and salami appetizer was great. Unfortunately, the combo suffered from undercooked skirt steak that was nowhere near the requested medium-well. The short rib and sausage fared better. The fries were of the Burger King variety.

HANDSDOWN my favorite restaurant in all of New York. The restaurant is also a butcher shop that carries Argentinian snacks and merchandise. The butcher said that they sourced their meat from Nebraska and were top notch quality. You’re welcomed by a complimentary appetizer of cheese, salami and tomato drizzled in chimichurri sauce. We ordered another round(extra $$$) because it was just THATGOOD. The dinner rolls were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside & were straight out of the oven. We ordered the mixed grill(parrillada completa) and the #4 sausage, skirt steak and short ribs. The mixed grill comes with an assortment of black sausage, skirt steak, short ribs and liver. Perfect for those who are fans of the liver and assorted sausages. The short ribs and skirt steak are my favorite – juicy & grilled to perfection. The mixed grill comes on a sizzling hot plate and is bursting with flavor. Each entrée comes with a side of salad or fries(GETTHEFRIESSS, so crispy so good). Did I mention the sangria? Smoooooooooooth just so smooooooth. We finished off our meal with the dulce de leche churros and I couldn’t have been happier. Everything about this place is what hopes & dreams are made of. Happily stuffed, I felt like I could roll myself back home. All in all, will be coming back here, time and time again.

Unless you are in Argentina or Miami, this will be your most authentic and(I mean it!) affordable Argentinean gourmet experience. There are so many generic steak houses out there posing as Argentine, as well as overpriced pretentious joints that have nothing to do with the hospitable, delicious, joyful world of Argentinean cuisine/dining — as far as the European element of it as well as the more traditional, provincial one. The parillada is amazing and arguably, the most affordable I have had in the States(especially with the usually stratospheric NYC prices), the service is rather prompt(considering they are almost always packed) and very friendly. It is a place to not pretend, but to just BE and experience the«joie de vivre». The desserts are out of this world amazing, and — now if you know Argentinean, and in particular porteño stuff, you will be thrilled to be offered the legendary«postre vigilante» — something I never, but NEVER was able to find in the US. This place comes the closest possible to the true Argentinean experience, almost literally transporting you to a barrio in Buenos Aires, helping one discover it, and the other — nostalgically re-live it. I absolutely recommend this gem. Hurry before it gets ruined by the awesome world of mouth and the«hipster attack».

I got here with only 4 minutes before the butcher counter closed, but wasn’t rushed at all to make my order. I only got 7 pounds of flank steak, but the butcher took his time with me and made sure everything was all good with my order. Definitely going to be coming back!

We didn’t eat here because when we came in everyone was so rude that we got turned off and left. It was a busy Saturday night, I understand that priorities are on the people already dining, but I don’t think that excuses rudeness. When we walked in there was no one greeting people so we approached a couple of waiters(we didn’t interrupt anyone who was serving a table or anything) and my husband asked if there was a table for two available. A man looked at us and walked past us without saying anything. He then came back and told us, rudely, not to stand where we were standing and to stand in another place. My husband asked a woman about a table, who walked away in the middle of her sentence. So we left, disappointed, because everything smelled and looked so good.

I picked up meat here for a Father’s Day bbq. I picked up chorizo, short ribs, and skirt steak. I can see that I am extremely happy the quality of meat received. The cuts of meet were absolutely perfect! We marinated the steak and the short ribs differently and both cook great. The chorizo was excellent as well and I really want to find out what they put in it! I would highly recommend grabbing meats from the butcher to grill for some high quality meats that are priced great!

I have been to this place when it was very small. However, i believed they made it bigger. The food is out of this world. Its in the heart of queens and its a charm. The meat is so flavorful and tender. I would recommend this place to all the meat lovers out there. I also recommend to make a reservation because it can get crowded at times.

I’m leaving one star only because the food was decent, not great. I was content with the food, but the waiter and service was terrible. I was with my girlfriend and my goddaughter and her parents. We got water once, no refills, no «how is your food» or «do you need anything else» or «do you want desert». We were ignored the whole time. No one asked if my goddaughter, btw is 1 year old, wanted anything specific or some water or even a kids menu. I created this Unilocal account just to tell you how bad this service was. And the waiter had the audacity to give me an attitude when I called him out while paying for the bill. I wish I could of given less then a 0 $ tip but that’s not possible.

HANDSDOWN as a Unilocal Elite which reviews a lot of places this is my favorite restaurant in all of NYC! If I could rate this place 6 stars I would just for the food alone. Being Argentinean this place is the closest I feel like I am actually in Argentina without leaving Queens. I always bring my family and friends here whenever they visit. The hour subway ride and walk each way from Manhattan is totally worth every second. I always order the entraña with chimichurri sauce. It’s very delicious and large! Big enough to split with two people. The fries are crispy to taste and the mixed salad tops the meal off with a taste of freshness. Don’t forget to try it with a glass of Malbec! The service itself is wonderful. Most of the customers are locals from the area. The ambiance of the restaurant is causal but yet romantic enough to bring friends, family, or a date. I went there on Valentine’s Day and the place was packed! All tables are served for free freshly baked bread and an appetizer that includes salami, cheese, tomatoes and oil. Yes, please! The walls are decorated with paintings and trinkets which makes you feel like you have been teleported to Buenos Aires. Did I mention the best part of all? There is an actual butcher shop inside of the restaurant which serves cuts of Argentinean meat to the customers. They also sell products from Argentina such as keychains, flags, mate gourds, alfajores, jerseys, jackets and more. If your craving a good steak and want to try some affordable and tasty Argentinean food look no further than El Gauchito!

The food here is delish, I’m always craving meat, and what better than this Argentinian jewel! To beging with I loved the free appetizer you get, it’s provolone cheeese with a cold cut, I think it was salami and drizzeI with a sort of vinagrette(it ‘s a very nice treat). Then I had the #4 combo, it was cooked to perfection and the chimichurry just made it even better, my friend had the bife the chorizo and it was simply amazing! There are some decent choices in the dessert menu, we went for the dulce de leche mousse, the flavor and texture were perfect, it just melts in your mouth!

So i decided to give this place a shot after trying out the other argentine establishment across the street. both are similar in terms of quality, however different things were better at each establishment. I order the Parillada completa, which is a perfect introductory course to argentinian cusine. the sweetbreads, the intestines, the kidneys were done amazingly here, they were cleaned properly, tasted fresh, and did not leave too much of a barn yard presence in my mouth, the blood sausage was incredible flavorful and crumbled beautifully as i placed the perfectly held together pieces in my mouth. my only complaint here was the meat, as it tasted a little tough, and was not on par with what the establishment across the street was offering. the offal meats and the sausages were remarkable here, the meat not so much
