Came here for the first time today. The spinach empanadas were delicious. Hubby and Dad had the parillada americana. They loved it. The waitor was so professional and friendly. I would definitely come back.

This place is amazing. Came here for a birthday dinner. The steak is wonderful. Add that chimichurri onto it and you are in for an amazing meal. The pasta looked good too. But that steak is really good.

A great and authentic local spot — you really feel like you’re in Argentina. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Highly recommend the sangria too!

Was looking for a nice lunch spot not too far from my job and this exceeded my expectations. Great spot for a first time lunch date because they offer free bread with a great olive/garlic oil, and a fine dining experience at lunch menu prices. You also have the option of getting sangria and other alcohol. Their sangria by the way is everything and one glass will have you all the way tipsy.

Me and my friends have been coming here for years and we’ve always enjoyed the food(so much meat!) and drinks(sangria, yum!) here. I wanted to post a picture but we are always so fast to eat as we soon as the food comes out! Next time I guess…

First and foremost, I’ve been coming to this restaraunt since I was about 13 years old with my family. My parents love this restaurant and they’ve come to have dinner here to commemorate special occasions and/or just for a great night out. The food quality and service here is amazing and they have been consistent ever since. Upon entering the restaurant, you can see frames containing articles and photos showing the history of the restaurant along with the recognition they’ve received. It has a cozy atmosphere and the décor gives you a very authentic feel as if your in a restsurant out in Argentina. Regarding the food, this place is well known for their grilled steaks and meats. They also offer chicken, pork, and seafood but if it’s your first time here the grilled steak is a must. Also they offer good selections of wine to accompany the meal. My family prefers the sangria which is made with fresh fruits. Therefore if you’re in the area and looking for a great Argentinian restaurant to have some grilled steak and wine, then this is one restsurant you don’t want to miss out on.

We got the small skirt steak(medium — cooked perfectly, so juicy and flavorful, and plenty for one person) and rigatoni la fusta with the mixed sauce(tomato and cream) and bacon — both were delicious! The chimichurri sauce made the meal! A solid Argentinian steak house with an old school vibe. We will return :)

I don’t know why I haven’t written a review of La Fusta until now. I have been here at least 20 – 30 times. My parents are Argentinian and this is a favorite restaurant of theirs and their friends. That says a lot. If native Argentinians come here, then this is the real deal. Prepare to be transported to Buenos Aires. Some of my mother’s friends come from Manhattan to Queens just for this place. One even comes from New Jersey. It is that good. I have also been coming here for at least 20 years. They went through a period about a year or two ago where they went down a little bit in terms of quality, but I am happy to say they are back up to their old standards which are quite high. I highly recommend their Parrillada which is a mixed grill of Argentinian style beef cuts. It has sausage, blood sausage(I think it is made from kidneys), short ribs, skirt steak, Mollejas(sweetbreads) and probably some other things I missed. It is best if you order the one for two as they give bigger pieces and more meat. Also, they just introduced an Americano version of this which substitutes the organ meats with a pork chop and if I recall correctly a chicken breast. Very good if you don’t like organ meats. I don’t in particular, but I do like the Mollejas(sweetbreads). Another dish I highly recommend is their skirt steak(Entrana). They marinate this steak(they won’t tell you how) in a way that makes it indescribably delicious. Also, their pastas are made fresh so you can’t go wrong if you are not a meat eater with any of them. My favorite is the Gnocci which is currently the best I’ve ever had. I like the white sauce which is a creamy sauce like Alfredo not not quite as thick or cheesy. I also like the Watercress Salad for starters. Its huge. Easily splittable and very fresh and delicious. You might want to ask for the onions on the side as they do tend to overdo it with them. Finally I recommend the flan, but don’t split it. You will want to eat it all yourself :)

small portions but good food, the only thing bad that the waiter do not treat people well, give it a try as if the client was a friend, do not speak with respect.

The lunch menu is a big deal: entrees for around $ 10 with bread, side and soda. The food is solid, among which I would say their modongo is superb. I would prefer less oily chimichuri sauce though. The service is very good, as well as the atmosphere and décor.

I’ve heard great reviews about this place. I just found it to be so so. We ordered a seafood pasta and small skirt steak with spinach. Skirt steak was cooked perfectly. Spinach was old. It’s an ok place. Definitely a place for skirt steak. Sangria was pretty good. Nothing to write home about.

I have to say, this place has some damn good skirt steak — perhaps, the best I ever had in NYC! My boyfriend and I came here for lunch, and we left incredibly satisfied. First of all, the red sangria was really, really good. A small pitcher($ 18) is definitely ideal for 2 people, unless you’re trying to get hammered We also got 2 beef empanadas($ 3 each), which were really delicious! It’s a lot bigger than the NYC-style empanadas elsewhere, so I thought it was worth the 3 bucks. Now, onto the entrée. We both got the small skirt steak($ 18), which comes with one side. The sides were forgettable(mashed potatoes & french fries), but that’s okay, because, well, they’re sides. The skirt steak, however, was grilled to perfection. It was juicy, and charred just enough that it really contained all the flavor I was looking for. I definitely suggest you lather your skirt steak with some of that chimichurri sauce they give you, because that really elevates the entire flavor of the steak! I really didn’t want my meal to end. Service was also great! Our waiter checked up on us every now and then to make sure we were okay, and were overall a real friendly group of people. Definitely a place I will be visiting again the next time I crave skirt steak!

Wow. How did I not know about this place? The BF took me here to celebrate him getting his first check at his new gig. And what a good place to do it! He ordered me a sangria — can i say… the best sangria!!! It was made to perfection! Speaking of perfection, the grilled skrit steaks we both ordered were out of this world. While we waited for our order, we got hot bread n chimichurri sauce. We also used that for our meat. The bf got the skirt steak made medium with brocoli and mashed potatoes on the side. I got the half skirt steak made medium with spinach on the side. Of course, i had to try the flan out for dessert. It took me a while to pick since I couldn’t make up my mind. It was so good. It also came with dulce de leche on the side. I usually dont like the bottom of flan so i didnt eat it. Either way, it was sooooo good. I recommend going here. I cant wait to go back.

The lunch menu is a good deal. Had the skirt steak medium rare and it was perfect. Good size portion. My friend had the skirt steak medium and it was not as tasty as medium rare. For $ 11, you get complimentary warm bread, salad, soda, choice of meal, one side and dessert. What!!!

Beautiful neighborhood restaurant. Came here with my family on a Thursday. Food and service was excellent. I don’t know what it is about warm bread, but it always gets me really excited to try everything else that a restaurant has to offer. We ordered the mozzarella in carrozza with prosciutto and avocado salad with chicken to start. All fresh ingredients and absolutely delicious. Four of us shared the mixed grill platter for two and it was STILL too much food! It included steak, chicken, sausage, and pork chops. Like most Argentinian steakhouses, they also had an olive oil, garlic, and parsley mixture on the table(see photo). It was really good and complemented the flavors of literally everything that I put it on. We got a pitcher of sangria as well which was good, but nothing to write home about. The décor is old school, Latin American, with a family-oriented atmosphere. They were quite busy as the night went on but service was still excellent throughout the meal. Only thing I didn’t particularly care for was the giant flat-screen TV on the wall in the middle of the restaurant. It was distracting and clashed with the rest of the décor. However, I do understand that watching soccer games is a big part of Argentinian culture. All and all, great experience. I’ll be back.

This place came highly recommended from someone who’s been coming here for almost 30 yrs. So we decided to check it out for my mom’s birthday this past weekend. Located right across the street from Elmhurst Hospital, it was quite the trek for me coming from Brooklyn, but it was worth the ride. Environment: Family oriented, busy, dimly lit, old school décor. Lots of fun after a few drinks and some chatting. Food: Moderately priced but they serve generous portions(except for the garlic shrimp at $ 18). The small skirt steak was average size — not sure why they call it small. The housemade chimichurri they serve with their also housemade, toasty bread is the best I’ve ever had. We had the mixed empanadas to start and those were hefty also. The avocado salad was my favorite. It was loaded with so much for $ 12 — add shrimp for a bucks more. The salad reminded me of a shrimp ceviche. The most disappointing dish was my own — garlic shrimp. The shrimps were jumbo sized but there were about 4 pieces in an orange colored cream sauce that didn’t taste like garlic at all. We shared 1 pitcher of regular sangria($ 27) and 2 of the sangria brava(stronger — $ 35). I didn’t taste the difference, but I felt a buzz either way. Service was great, there when we needed him but otherwise let us enjoy our meals. Nice spot!

I really enjoyed the food and service here. The sangria was wonderful. Appetizer was fried calamari. Main dish I shared with my bf which was the parrillada for two. It came with one morcilla, skirt steak, sausage, and other cuts of meat. I was a little disappointed with the amount of meat I received for the amount we paid for the one entrée(Roughly $ 45 /$ 50, I could be wrong, I don’t remember) Honestly I felt it should have been two pieces of everything so it can be split evenly. That’s really the only thing I would change. Everything was cooked to perfection. Nothing burnt or overcooked. We also ordered a side of spinach. The inside is cozy and romantic. I would love to come back soon!!!

Queens has plentiful family-friendly restaurants catering to the many diverse ethnic groups that call it home. One such is La Fusta, here for over 40 years, an Argentinian restaurant specializing in parrilladas, or grilled meats. With a series of connected dining areas reminiscent of a warren, it is cozy, although tables can be arranged to host large groups. Warm yellow walls are festooned with equestrian-related photos. The wait staff have that particular quality possessed by those with extensive experience: poised and assured, with a sense of humor, not missing a beat if they forget something(not so common considering they don’t write down orders) and correcting promptly. Their attentiveness includes the small details for young children. And there’s a singer on staff who provides an impressive rendition of «Happy Birthday.» La Fusta serves delicious, satisfying food. Nothing fancy, but food to really dig into, with impressive portions. The appetizer highlight is surely the flaky, delicious beef empanadas nicely accented with chopped olives(also available stuffed with chicken or spinach, but regulars are united in their acclaim for the deep-fried beef ones). Tortilla de papas fare less well, tasting much like an American omelette with potato. The avocado salad with shrimp is a favorite, an enticing mix of avocado, watercress, hearts of palm, red onion, hard boiled egg, tomato, and plump shrimp. Refreshing yet substantial, and quite accessible even to the meat-eaters. The parilladas are a star, specifically the succulent skirt steak, worth getting a large order of. Short ribs are quite good too. The mixed grill is a good way to sample a variety of meats, including offal and sausages. Pork chops are thick and tender. The accompanying sides of garlic spinach and broccoli must receive a serious dose of meat juices to explain their tastiness. And their fragrant, beautifully executed chimichurri can enhance everything else, not just the bread. The dessert list is surprisingly extensive. Classic flan is substantial and smooth, a good version. Banana crêpe flambé has the requisite table-side flame show but the taste of rum overwhelms it. Other crepes are good with ice cream. House sangria is easy-drinking, tasting of wine, and a very respectable version. Or have a glass from their extensive Argentinian wine list. No surprise that reds dominate the list. Beers are limited to mainstream ones. La Fusta is a great place for groups. The generous portions are certainly best shared. The value is fantastic for the quality. Having enjoyed dinner here on two occasions, both in large groups with young children, its safe to say it will be a regular place for group, family events, and birthdays too.

I think I was Hispanic in another life. This place has been around forever, it’s New York’s oldest Argentinean restaurant, opened since 1971 and it kinda surprised me that my first visit here was only like five years ago. With Argentinean restaurants, I think steak with chimichurri and red sangria should be the way to go, it really is a great combination and this restaurant has it down to an art. The food: Avocado salad with shrimp– Watercress, Tomato, red onions, Avocado, Hearts of Palm, hard boiled egg, butter beans. I am not one to make a big deal about salad but the avocado salad with shrimp was fantastico! It’s so great on so many levels from the creamy avocado to the wonderfully cooked shrimp to the properly dressed greens. This is a great starter. Grilled skirt steak with french fries or mashed potatoes– The skirt steak here is excellent. It’s cooked to the proper temp and it is really juicy and tender. The pickled peppers is a nice addition, it help cuts the richness of the steak. With the steak, it must be eaten with chimichurri which is a garlic and parsley oil. I think the french fries here are really nice and crispy, the mash is kinda plain. Short ribs with french fries or mashed potatoes– The short ribs has a nice beefy flavor but is not as tender as the skirt steak. The short ribs are really good but plays second fiddle to the skirt steak. The short ribs should be eaten with the chimichurri as well. Red Sangria– There really is a magic pairing between red wine and beef, with sangria it’s with a touch of sweetness. The sangria is really refreshing and it has a nice red wine flavor, it’s not too sweet and it’s not too strong. This is a must order. Sautéed spinach– I really enjoyed these, they were cooked well and had a nice garlic flavor.

Pedi la parrillada, la carne estaba bastante bien. el chori estaba baboso, las mollejas quemadas, el chinchulin incomible. las papas fritas eran de las compradas. una verguenza que esto pase como parrilla criolla.
