It’s the best bar in Elmhurst. If you don’t like the spring inn, you are doing life wrong. Pete is the fucking man, Geneine is great and Evan rules. The fact that a bar like this exists in Elmhurst makes me happy.

You want a great neighborhood bar where there is cheap drinks and great bartenders and crowd? Look no further! Just started coming here recently and the first moment I walked in the door and Pete, one of the regular bartenders, gave me a huge greeting and gave me nickname that stuck every time I came in since. Yes it’s a «dive bar» but it’s one that does it really well! There are specials everyday, darts, a golf arcade game, and every so often on a Sunday, there’s open mic night. If you want your foo-foo drinks/wine, go across the street to the high-class wine bar. But for a great time, come here and tell Pete I said hi for you!

My boyfriend and I got held up in snowstorms on our way across country and drove into chicago late with no plans to ring in the new year. Spring inn was the closest dive bar to our hotel and with 30 min to spare we rushed over hoping to find a party. The bar was empty but the few locals and the bartender were happy to see us and quickly struck up conversation. Everyone bought everyone rounds of shots at an incredibly reasonable price and we ended up spending the rest of the night chatting with locals and a few other college kids that stumbled in. All around perfect way to ring in 2013 and we met some pretty awesome people. We will definitely make an effort to visit again if we’re ever in Chicago!

I live about 2.5 blocks from the Spring Inn and REALLY want to like this place. It has an extreme amount of potential and would it not be amazing if it was remodeled and turned into something a bit more special?! A few of us spent the evening watching a Blackhawks game here(this was my second visit in about two years). There were no lights on(I presume for a reason) and you could only see by the glow of the 5 – 6TV’s on. The place looks like it has not been touched or updated any way in 20 years. This is not a deal breaker for me but it simply does not have a «welcoming» atmosphere. I am fine with giving a dive bar 5 stars if it does a very good job at embracing what it is, but it feels unclean and neglected. Please fix this place up! I really want to like it!

Divey good times! I met a friend here for drinks on a Saturday night. It had that divey smell to it. You know that mix of stale smoke, urinal cakes, and booze? While that seems gross, it is really a nice homey feeling. Spring Inn is everything one would expect from a dive: cheap drinks, horrible jukebox, old school video games, and the aforementioned smell. Do not come here expecting something fancy schmancy. Leave your IPL expectations at home, grab a glass of whiskey, and have a good time!

This is the best dive bar in Elmhurst, and one of my favorites anywhere. There’s not much else to say. The place is pretty clean, has a couple of rotating beers on tap, and has a generally passive crowd. The bartenders are always very nice and accommodating.

You’ll be a fan if you enjoy dive bars. The place still smells of stale smoke even though it’s been a few years since people could smoke in bars. It’s somewhat dark and dingy but hey, drinks are cheap, bartenders are super friendly and will turn on whatever channel you’d like to watch.

Have you ever been to a hole in the wall? Have you ever been to a hole in the wall you love? That’s Spring. It’s a fun time, quiet occasionally. The kinda place you can go into alone and just have a few cocktails. People are nice and you can find an interesting conversation any night of the week, I’m pretty sure. It’s not the cleanest place in Elmhurst, but the drinks are good, the staff takes good care of you and you can pretty much request to watch whatever you want on TV. I’m glad the non-smoking law went into effect because the ventilation in here sucks, so back in the day it was stinky smokey-treat smelling. Tent out back for smokers. No drinks outside– don’t be stupid and bring ‘em out there, its not allowed. The owner is a kind man and we enjoy the drive out to Elmhurst for drinks on the occasional weekend night.

No more Friday night dinners But the lunches are still on and cheap!!. On another note… You should disregard the post about the owner boozing it up all day(William W)…come in more than once a year and someone might really listen to that claim. He has been at the Inn for ever… and if he did truly act like that… do you think he or this bar would still be around?.

The bartender practically ignored, which I didn’t really care since he was a punk male. Small bar near the praire path. Villa Park has an identical bar down the same path with better service and better priced beers. This place only wants 23 and younger patrons I suppose from the service I got on a sunday night with only two other people there

Check list for the Spring Inn: 1. Schlitz on tap poured in the classic 60’s pilsner glass. 2. Affordable top shelf booze. 3. Outdoor«tent» for your smoking pleasure. 4. Well-worn 50+ year history. If you could pick this place up and move it to Logan Square or Ukie Village, it would be an immediate hipster dive bar favorite. Too bad you can’t since it will stay located out here where I can walk my 50 year old ass home from it.

The greatest dive bar ever, and in Elmhurst? Yep. They don’t mess around. Good drinks at a good price. Catch any Chicago sports game on the TVs. Great lunch cooked by a nice woman named Sue. The bartenders are super personable and will throw you a drink on the house every now and then. They have a decent jukebox and a hot little bartender named Nikki. Now that the smoking ban is in effect the bar is perfect. A great place to catch up with your friends at. I’m starting to become a regular and love the ambiance!

Oh well hello you most unsuburban bar you! I mean its Elmhurst. I didn’t expect to find such a comfy dive. And with good, decently priced beer!(Labatt’s on tap!) And a good mix of nice people! Look at all those exclamation points. But, uh, yeah, its real smokey. So don’t say you haven’t been warned!

I walked in and walked out. But in the three seconds I was there I may have gotten lung cancer. It was really that smoky. Otherwise it seemed like an ok bar, but for crying out loud, open the window!!!
