I have a soft spot in my heart for TCBY. Sadly it has become hard to find TCBY’s anywhere, but luckily they have returned to Elmhurst in the latest«Froyo» craze. I’m just happy to be able to get my good old trusty White Chocolate Mousse every once in awhile. Ordering what you want at a counter is apparently a thing of the past in this day and age, so you get to grab your container and fill it and top it as you please and then bring it to the cashier for a weigh and finally tally. This location also mentions Ms. Fields cookies which I have been tempted to buy, but haven’t due to the fact I don’t know how fresh they would or would not be. Overall this place is a safe bet in a more crowded Froyo world.

I’d say just your standard frozen yogurt place — have been with a groupon twice and was neither impressed nor disappointed. They swap out the flavors but depending on when you go they can be limited. Only thing that stands out is the girl behind the counter, silent and expressionless as she watched us try to pick out our flavors. We were a little undecisive about what to get, and it didn’t help feeling as though we were being judged the whole time. Awkward experience

Even though they don’t have a lot of choices to choose from, whatever you choose is delicious! It’s the only frozen yogurt I’ll eat. It tastes great. I’ve tried every flavor and I like them all, especially chocolate because it actually tastes like chocolate. Unlike other frozen yogurt places I’ve been to wear it just tastes like ice. I come here all the time with my friends. Best frozen yogurt place.

I have given this place about 3 tries, each time with my kids in tow, each time fully disappointed. The frozen yogurt comes out runny so it melts in a matter of seconds. The flavors either don’t taste like the name and/or just have no flavor and are on the icy side. When you try to pull a sample it goes all over your hand. The fruit is frozen and nasty looking. The staff isn’t friendly. And the topper is the second time I was in there a woman tapped me on the shoulder and told me I had toilet paper stuck to my shoe. Ummm, ok, that’s awesome considering I was never in the bathroom! This place is just a big miss. Sorry, TCBY, but 3 strikes and your OUT!

Gosh, of the 8 choices for Frozen Yogurt in Elmhurst(4 right in the downtown area), I felt TCBY would be the best.(BTW, did these franchise companies offer any location assistance for their franchisees, did Elmhurst let them know they had concurrent applications for multiple Frozen Yogurt places?). Of the places I tried, I like the consistency of TCBY better. Frankly, I don’t care for the self-serve format. It used to be, you go in and order a yogurt in a cup or in a cone, and add toppings, and you paid $x. Now, you get an over-sized bowl to fill and pay by the ounce. I’m sure per-person sales go up, but how does that repeat-customer count go? Anyway, 3 cups of yogurt with toppings came out to $ 18(!). For two kids and an adult, I think the $ 0.49 McDonald’s cone would’ve satisfied more than the $ 0.49 per ounce. They offered me a frequent buyer’s club card and I declined — I won’t be going there again. Perhaps I’m becoming a curmudgeon. GETOFFMYLAWN!!!

The Country’s Best Yogurt is RIGHT. A small child near me during my second visit summed it up perfectly«I like this place because it tastes like ice cream and every other place tastes like not ice cream.» TCBY is totally not NOT ice cream! It tastes creamy and delicious like regular ice cream. The chocolate/vanilla swirl plus chocolate-covered waffle cone pieces literally makes my day feel like a better day. A drizzle of «marshmallow topping?» Don’t mind if I do! Self Serve-pay per ounce-clean-happy workers-AND YOUCANSAMPLEALLOFTHEFLAVORS. I can’t say I will be back, because I already HAVE. Four times. In fact… I’m done with this review *runs to TCBY*
