I have been coming to Stop 20 for many years. I think this Diner is definitely 10 steps ahead of 99% of the diners I have been too. Food is great, service is great, it is a little more money wise, but at the end of the day you pay for what you get and if you want quality food, this is the place.

Giving this place one star is me being really generous. First off, the waiter couldn’t seem to understand our order. Next, we waited a half hour for 2 sprites which he seemed to have forgotten. Lastly, when our food finally arrived, the«chicken» in the chicken ceaser wraps tasted like straight up fish. Not sure if they were cooking fish on the same grill then cross-contaminated our chicken… or if it was even«chicken». This is my first bad experience here and it’s enough to push me away. Horrible.

I found this gem about a few months ago and I’ve been going back ever since. Not sure what it is about this diner, but it has a warm home feel too it! Once you stop here, try the WINGS!!! Amazing is not the word to describe it! It’s not over cooked nor is it undercooked. The grease is just right and moist to the last drop! … Just try it!!! Customer service is impeccable as usual! Until next time Unilocal Family!

My BF recommended coming here this morning, he said it was he best in our area. Walking in I instantly noticed how clean and updated the diner is. The gentleman at the door greeted us and immediately sat us.(Normally they just yell«TWO?» In your face. Hah.) The breakfast menu is two pages with the combos on the first page. That made it easy to order. I ordered a cappuccino because another Unilocaler had posted a photo of it and it looked delicious. It was very rich! The sausages are long links and the bacon is crispy not fatty. The hash portion took up half the plate and the toast was buttered perfectly! We will be back for sure! (I took a trip to the bathroom and they were super clean!)

Have been coming here for years. You could pretty much order anything, they have a huge menu and so many things are good. The burgers are awesome, good breakfast, and awesome grilled Reuben! The coleslaw is so good that they serve. Place is clean and the staff is nice. Usually pretty quick! Would highly recommend!

Truly enjoyed this diner! They have such a variety of unique choices that it’s almost stressful not to be able to say«I’ll take everything!». Also, the whole staff is very attentive and accommodating. I’ll be back!

Definitely a great value for the money. Large portions served! The staff are very friendly and professional. Feels like cheers the sitcom where everybody knows your name. Staff makes you feel welcomed. Food is good as diner food goes.

Had lunch here today with my wife and daughter. Its a diner, so I wasn’t expecting 5 star cuisine. My wife had the french toast, the portions were large however she felt there was too much cinnamon, otherwise it was a nice fluffy french toast on Challah bread. My 4 year old had the pancakes(off the childrens menu) and it was very good. Kind of hard to mess up pancakes, but, it can happen. This was not one of those times. Very well cooked and the portion was an adult size portion for a kids menu. She enjoyed them and we both had a piece and they were good. I had the Philly cheese steak panini, no red peppers. The panini was delicious, I really enjoyed the meal. They also give you 3 pieces so it was very filling. I ordered the waffle fries(which is an additional $ 4 to the meal) and they were delicious. Overall, it was a satisfying and enjoyable lunch. I would definitely come back here again.

We stopped into this traditional diner for lunch after a visit to Flushing Meadows park. This diner has an enormous book sized menu with something for everyone here. They probably have at least fifteen paninis. One thing this diner doesn’t skimp on is portions. Both my wife and I ordered Fries on the side of our sandwiches and they literally dump a small mountain of them on each of our plates. I ordered a Corned Beef Rueben and it arrive open faced with more sour kraut then meat, I’m not exaggerating when I say the kraut side was nearly an inch thick. Our waitress looked like she’s been here forever, and I always smile when one of these old time servers calls us «kids». Cute diner, good plentiful menu, would definitely return. Prices on par with most other similar places.

I’m confused about this place. I heard it was great but when I went it seemed weird. I ordered a vegetable omelette and my bf ordered a spanish omelette. The waiter was nice and the coffee I ordered was good. My omelette however was bland and the spanish omelette was really bad. It was smothered in sauce– salsa actually… the salsa you use at parties for chips… the eggs couldn’t even be seen. When he ordered spanish omelette he thought maybe some sauce and some veggies or other meats would be in the omelette but it was all salsa. He couldn’t even eat it. We left as soon as I was done with my bland omelette. I might try something else, maybe their dinner is better.

Another perfectly fine, unremarkable Long Island diner. They did include an extremely moist slab of pound cake with the lunch special which was nice. Service was slow.

The five star review is solely based upon their amazing Cobb salad. As many of my fellow«food snobs«already know, when you want something specific to eat, nothing else can substitute. On this particular occasion, I was fiercely craving a Cobb salad. I had called around to several other diners that I have eaten that in the past, and to my dismay, they did not serve Cobb salads. While they had all the ingredients to make a Cobb salad, they chose not to. This is where stop 20 diner comes into play. After making that final phone call, the gentleman on the other side of the phone told me «yes we do make a Cobb salad.» Upon hearing this I was extremely enthused. I proceeded to order my Cobb salad, sans onions, with grilled chicken and Russian dressing on the side. Within 10 minutes my order was ready. While I did not see the actual salad immediately as it was encased in a clamshell in a plastic bag, I immediately noted it’s hefty weight. Upon getting home I unwrapped my gustatory gift and was taken aback at the enormity of this supersized salad. There had to be at least 1 pound of delicious grilled chicken laid on top of leafy greens, tomatoes, avocado, olives, blue cheese, and of course bacon. The only complaint I would have is they do not put a hard-boiled egg on the salad. This salad is big enough for two people. And when I say two people, I mean two healthy in appetite, omnivorous gluttons. If you’re craving a Cobb salad, then I recommend you give stop 20 diner a call.

I seen some good reviews from my local Unilocalers and decided to try this diner out. Upon arriving, I was immediately greeted with a smile from the host. It wasn’t crowded around 10am. I was surprised. I was expecting to see more people on a beautiful Sunday morning. They have a private parking lot, so it shouldn’t be hard to find parking. The diner is very clean. The booths are big and spacious. That is a plus, because you get a lot of food with your meals. The diner has a few TV’s broadcasting the news which is nice. Our waiter came over and took our orders very fast. I got a large orange juice; it tasted good. It comes with pulp. For breakfast I got toast, home fries, with a California Omelette which you can find under«Specialty Omelettes». The omelette was AMAZE-BALLS. It has avocado, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. The combination sounds out of this world, but it tasted so delightful. I was full ! I couldn’t even finish my toast. The home fries were just okay. Overall, I would definitely return. the service was on point, the food was even better. Its affordable too.

So let me ask you a hypothetical question. If you go into a NYC diner, out of the hundreds of items you’ll find on a menu, what is the single dish you’d be MOSTSHOCKED to find that they cannot effectively execute? Would you believe the common bagel? Sadly, that was what our party experienced yesterday. Twelve of us walked into a packed house yesterday, and thankfully we had reservations because Stop 20 was jammed to the rafters. We all ordered a variety of dishes– salads, eggs, sandwiches etc. Eight of the dishes came out in a reasonable time, but four didn’t. What did the four have in common? They were all bagel dishes. Three were bagels and smoked salmon, and the fourth was a bagel ordered as an alternative to toast with an egg dish. After a very long time, the bagels rolled out. Now, we’ve all been to diners a zillion times, and we’ve all seen those big paper bags of bagels from the local bagel shop. Some of these are as big as a saucer. But not these. They were suspiciously small, about the same size as you’d find in a supermarket freezer. I sat at the end of our table where three people had the bagels. Every one of them said they weren’t right– they were very hard and difficult to chew. I asked for a piece to sample,. and I agreed. My guess is this — did you ever over-microwave something and it comes out with a hardening loss of original texture? Bingo. I’m guessing they had no bagels on hand(for whatever reason), and reached into the freezer and rush microwaved them. The smoked salmon didn’t save the plates either, it was the ribbon-like stringy and veiny strips you see on low-end pre-packaged supermarket stuff. We sure expected better quality, At least my Cobb Salad(14.95) was very good, but it was very disappointing to see a third of our table get served awful plates. I felt bad for our server. The restaurant was so crowded and the aisles between tables were so puny, he couldn’t even get to everyone at our table. Instead, he had to pass our plates down the table bucket brigade style. But the guy was resourceful! Our table-top leaned back and forth like a drunken rummy, and when we asked about it, he turned the table upside down, whipped out a gargantuan wrench, and tightened that sucker up. That was awesome !

I’m not sure how we’ve been coming to this diner for over 20 years and I’ve never reviewed it. But Stop 20 is a solid joint with consistently good diner food. It has a decent parking lot, is clean, and the service is usually on point. What more can you ask for in a diner?

I’ve been coming here for years since living in Nassau County most of my life. Conveniently located on Hempstead Turnpike amongst the plethora of Italian shops and restaurants is Stop 20. An old fashioned quaint diner with an extensive menu. The service is impeccable. I came on Mother’s Day and was seated right away at 12 noon. I was just introduced to the $ 14.95 Weekend Brunch Menu. All items served with complimentary fruit bowl and juice. It’s not bottomless alcohol, but it’s a healthier option. Many have bragged about the large paninis, so I had to order one. I ordered the Mediterranean Panini. Fresh spinach, sun dried tomatoes, mozzarella and grilled chicken, slathered in pesto sauce. It could be split amongst 3 people. Very filling. My dad ordered the pastrami omlette, which he devoured in 10 minutes. The pastries and desserts here are delicious. Make Stop 20 your 1st stop on the turnpike.

Great food, large menu, friendly staff and plenty of parking out back. My go-to is the loaded fries with an egg over easy on the side. I have ordered the gyro here before and it was pretty good. Best diner in Long Island if you ask me
