I ordered jerk chicken from here and when I arrives home it was pink/undercooked. I had to put it in the oven but it was just tasteless. I will never return, many better options in the area.

My daughter and sisters love this place. I love the fact that they have a family deal that includes a large soda. I enjoyed their breakfast their salt that fish cook up is really tasty. The rice and peas with oxtail gravy on top is to die for. It says that they deliver but they don’t. Every time I call them to ask for delivery they say they don’t deliver. I wish that they did sometimes I don’t feel like walking all the way over there.

After driving by here on numerous occasions and seeing their multiple YouTube advertisments, I’ve finally tried their food. Small store but the food was delicious! I walked to a greeting with a smile(*rare*) and a hello(even more *rare*). I was impressed lol jk… it was nice though. They also sell items such as authentic jerk seasoning, ackee(in the can), hard dough bread, bun and cheese and some west Indian pastries. I was planning on trying their jerk chicken(my absolute favorite and a staple Jamaican dish) but they were sold out. So, I instead ordered a small oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage for my dad and I got a mini stew chicken with cabbage for myself. All together I paid $ 13, not bad at all. I can’t comment personally on the oxtail, as I don’t eat beef, but my dad said it had a nice flavor with a slight spice to it. He enjoyed it. My stew chicken was on point! Perfect amount for one meal. Three thigh pieces seasoned perfectly and saucy with carrots, just how I like it! The sauce was a tad bit spicy but not overpowering. I liked the way they serve their steamed cabbage, its shredded thin which sort of reminded me of coleslaw. It was delicious alone but even better mixed with the stew chicken sauce. I would return to try other items on their menu.

Today I ordered jerk chicken and when I got home I was disappointed. It was more like baked chicken and it didn’t have any flavor. I called Yards because I thought maybe they mixed up my order. They said to bring it back so they can take a look. When I returned the cashier looked at my order and said that’s jerk chicken. I said well may I change my order to something else, she said no. The manager of the establishment just said some people don’t like their chicken spicy so that’s how they make it. I didn’t ask for spicy but jerk chicken should have flavor. I will not return, go to the Door. The food is way better there.

I went back and got the curry chicken and rice for dinner. That was pretty good, a Little too much seasoning on the curry, but it was good still. The one round plantain tasted tough and stale(even though I never knew plantain to stale) so I guess that was cooked early in the day and not fresh to order. The veggies that came with the meal I could do without. But overall, it was a good dinner. I would go back again, try something else next time.

Very popular Spot it’s maybe 4 other West Indian restaurants not far from here and this one seems to be the neighborhood favorite. If you can make it here early try the breakfast ! It sells out pretty fast didn’t last long, I love the ackee & salt fish with bake & green banana ! So good makes me feel like I’m. All home. The food is always great and as soon as you order your not waiting to long quick service

We ordered catering from them for our Thanksgiving work lunch and they quoted us $ 151 for pickup at 12:30PM. I arrived at 12:45PM and it still wasn’t ready. I go to pay and she says $ 153. We went back and forth, even though we’re down the street(like, I would’ve brought it later) over the $ 2 on a $ 150 order, so finally I just used my credit card. They had no boxes or bags to put the trays in, so sauce got all over my car, nor did they help me load my car. How do you advertise for catering and not have boxes or bags to put the trays in?!? The food was decent(even though it was cold), but I didn’t enjoy it, because I was so mad at the terrible service. My coworkers and I all agreed that we will not be ordering for events from them anymore.

If I could give negative stars I would. The food is bland & dry. I loooove jamacian food but stuff I brought is terrible. The sad part is that the food could of been really good if it had more sauce & flavor

Terrible service, Waited 2+ hours for my food. Was told 10 mins for delivery on the phone not to mention being put on hold 4 times to make the order. Plus $ 8 for a delivery fee if you dont live near-by is crazy. Called back and spoke to the manager, who kindly apolozgized for the inconvenience. I ordered a mini oxtail with beans. The portions were fair but they were stingy on the platains, only giving one. The oxtail was tender and juicy.

The truth! I was skeptical to go here because the last review posted was over 8 months ago but I needed oxtail! I ordered oxtail and an esco snapper. The oxtail was just what I wanted, tender, full of flavor and authentic. Exactly what I was craving for! Not at all disappointed. The rice and peas was also real tasty! The seafood here is made to order and thats a + for me, It was only a 12 minute wait that was worth it! The fish was well cleaned and very well seasoned. They have managed to have me hooked! Great food and great customer service! No complaints at all!

I recently moved to Long Island and now got around to trying this spot since I pass it every day. The woman behind the counter never smiled or even looked me in the eyes. She simply looked up and said«yes», with a bit of an attitude. I asked how much the jerk chicken only was and she sighed and then told me $ 4.50 for a leg quarter. I placed my order and paid for it and said thank you and she just looked to the next customer, like I didn’t say anything. I have not been back since. The chicken was OK, i can do better myself, it was nothing to write a good review about.

Hole in the wall with 3 dining stools, take out joint. When it comes to Haitian food specifically Jamaican food I am all about oxtail baby I love sucking the bones trying to siphon out the marrow and juices and gnawing on the grizzle, there’s nothing like it unfortunately it’s not as fun afterwards to have to clean your fingers off especially if they don’t have a washroom, but that’s par for the course. This place has a good product not over the top blown away, the rice n beans was very good, cabbage on the side definitely didn’t work kinda raw with no flavor. The oxtail was good but could’ve used more ox and tail. All the typical items including all the jerk options, patties and plantains that you would normally expect from a Jamaican establishment. The portion was large for $ 14 but camouflaged with rice. I don’t know if I would go out of my way to come back to dine in but would order take out if I lived closer.

Do yourself a favor… skip Golden Crust and go to Yardies! This is definitely our go to spot after discovering it a few months ago. Great chicken soup, dumplings, jerk chicken and king fish. You won’t be sorry

I stopped in while driving down Elmont Rd., decided to grab the Oxtail, Rice & Peas. Also got the Jerk Pork. I honestly was let down. Jerk Pork was dry… I mean bordering jerky dry. Rice and Peas didn’t have much flavor either. The Oxtail was tasty, it was spiced right but just a bit too greasy. For the price its a great deal. But for better flavored food… hit up Good Taste on Linden Blvd, down the block in Cambria Heights.

I’ve been going here for a few months now and it’s now my go to place for Jamaican food. The best part about t their food is that it is always fresh! The food is delicious of course and the portions and prices are good. In addition to the meals, they make great soup, garden salads, potato salad, macaroni pie, and other options that I haven’t tried yet. Their service is always quick and they are polite! Definitely give them a shot in the neighborhood.

Just wanted to say since my first visit I had a vegetarian’s version of soya chunks run down and it was so good. I am sad to be so far away from Yardies but when I am in town I will be back. Its tough to get tasty options for vegetarians especially in the most unexpected places. Yardies is so accommodating and so flavorful. The run down chunks are not part of their regular menu(I don’t think) but don’t be afraid to ask to them to try something new they really know what great service is about. Maybe next time I will ask for jerk soya chunks and I’m sure I will not be disappointed.

I’ve been here before but only for a veggie patty. I didn’t know they had veggie soy chunks until I read Melba’s review above. I bought the stewed chunks and it came with red beans and rice, veggies and plantains. They gave me a large portion which I shared with my mom and she loved it. we are both fans!

Food Is excellent. 100% better than Golden Crust. I have had oxtail, curry goat, ackee and saltfish, kidney, and porridge. They were all the best I ever had. The portions are good. This is real Jamaican food. The service is wonderful and fast. Don’t have to deal with attitudes and long lines like the«crust». Real home cooking with a smile. Love it. This is my new take out spot.
