The Play Place

One star is too much! I need a freaking corporate office because the staff there are BEYOND USELESS!!! Do they even read the comments! I’m am so disgusted!!!

This place is pretty great! They have soccer and tennis lessons, a giant play structure, two separate areas for children under 5, a dance studio and even a hair cutting place.
We go at least 2 times per week and some of the parents let their children run wild. It’s difficult to keep an eye on the kids at all times because parts of the play structure are hard to see into. It’s a great place for kids to learn how to interact with each other and solve their own problems, but I’ve seen many, many helicopter parents getting upset when kids have the smallest disagreement.
Usually these types of places have a secondary safety gate at the front entrance, so that would be only the improvement I can think of. Oh and they could have a few rules around use of the equipment that parents can point to when things get out of hand, which can easily happen at places such as this.
They have free wi-​fi and a snack bar with reasonably priced goodies. Look up from your screen every few minutes and all should be well.

Very DANGEROUS place for children. Unbelievable disregard for the safety of children. The after school kids seem completely unattended which goes contrary to the «philosophy» detailed in their website. I asked the manager if there was supervision for the kids as I watched enormous kids kicking, pushing and kamikaze jumping into a moshpit of other kids within the play gym area. He directed us to a young woman, although she behaved like a spoiled, lazy, nasty little kid. We asked her if she could please supervise and place some order in this place area. She rolled her eyes, sucked her teeth and responded as if we’d asked her to clean turds off the toilet bowl. I took pictures of her standing there refusing to move or make eye contact while directly in front of her lay a big kid kicking at others about the face and upper body. Around her are several mothers attempting to get their kids out without having them get hurt. I took pics of the kids kicking, shoving and slamming on top of other kids from higher elevated platforms. I went back to the manager and told him, these kids are completely out of control! Someone will get hurt if there is no one there to keep things in order. He looked at me with a completely blank expression
and apologized. I said, dont apologize, please do something to ensure the safety of these kids! He said, «Um…well, Im not sure. Um… I dont know. Um.». And that was it. I had to walk away in disgust. The same nasty, belligerent, rude woman walked right up to us to let us know who her manager was. In other words, he doesn’t care anymore than I do. These people should be fired. This young woman in particular lacks the diplomacy, maturity and experience with children to work in such a place. I am a therapist who specializes in kids with 4 master degrees. I am honestly appalled by these people. Who hired such inept pp to deal with children?

This review is for a birthday we celebrated here. The place itself is great to take your child on a rainy/​cold day or to just have your child have fun in a secure area.
Let me start by saying that the room set up was what we asked for and the private party room was nice. The two attendants helping us were also very friendly and attentive as soon as we got there.
The party package lasts a total of 1.5 hrs… which I honestly think is too short. 2 hours would be perfect: 30 mins free play, 45 mins elective activity, 45 mins pizza and cake
The first half hour of free play is nice to allow guests to get there and get situated. Next came the activities in the soccer field, which is the option we chose. An announcement was made to gather all the guests; this was nice. The field games and the time constraint was the part of the party that made me change my mind about having a party at this place again. The party attendants, although nice, did not evaluate the age of the kids well… they were for the most part 2 – 4 years old. The attendants wanted to play organized games with these young kids and were at times very strict with the children if the children did not listen or follow instructions. They even made the birthday boy (2 years old) cry when they refused to give him the balls they brought out to play. I feel that if you are offering the short window of ½ hour play, your job should focus on making sure the kids are having fun not that they are following your every command… this is not school or an 8 hour day where you need to establish that much order.
When I suggested they adapt their approach to their younger audience, they ended the session because it was time for pizza and cake.
Again, the half hour we had left for pizza and cake was okay but a bit more time would have been better. It felt rushed.
We made a decision to have a party here and although we will come back to play, we won’t be celebrating any other birthdays here.
I would suggest the staff is reminded that the kids are there for a very short period of time and to just let the kids have fun. I think what really troubled me was that one of the attendants rolled her eyes at the kids because they were being «kids».

Just had my daughter’s 3^rd birthday party here and was very happy. We came here the first time a couple of months ago and loved it. Clean, spacious, very friendly staff. I hope its stays that way. Any place that parents take their kids to even though there is staff present it is YOUR job as their parent to keep an eye on them at ALL times! You can’t blame the place because the parents are not doing their job.

Not a safe place for younger children. My experience was terrifying. There was no explanation as to what the place can provide for my 17 month old when I registered yesterday. There’s also no supervision. Parents are socializing in one area and kids are running around and being wild in another.
My child was hit with a tennis racquet despite me trying to keep him out of harms way… leaving him with a bloody eye and no one showed any interest. The girls/​staff never came to our aid. I get that kids need to be kids but they must be told to be aware of their surroundings and play safe.
Needless to say I canceled my registration immediately and would never take my child there again. I also don’t recommend taking your child there.

Very large space, perfect for active kids, with numerous play areas. Only suggestion would be to play music more suitable for kids (currently sounds like a nightclub). Staff is nice. And there is a kids haircut biz conveniently located next door.

I go to a lot of play places. Too many indoor play places and this is the one I like the most. The facilities are so large my child never seems bored. The crawl tunnels can support my weight which allows me to join my young child. Everything is divided up by age so it’s rare to have a big kid running into a small kid. It also has two fields (soccer and tennis) and a floor video game. In the middle is a large, spacious area with multiple regular sized couches, child sized furniture, and high chairs so everyone can relax or eat. This area is also clean. They even have toys attached to the walls at different heights.
I’m not sure why some posters commented about staff not watching/​interacting with the children. That’s not a service they provide. They are friendly and polite though. With everything I listed and the fact it’s $ 10 it’s worth the visit.

Our daughter loves coming here on rainy and cold days to get some energy out! (We’ve brought her here since she was about 18 months.) There are areas suitable for different age groups, and she enjoys the baby spot, the under 3 spot, and the smallest slides and climbing area — I think that’s for under 4 or 5. Plus she will run around the soccer field or tennis court if they’re open. It’s always very clean, the staff is available if you need them (although at her age we just chase her everywhere), and while it’s usually quite crowded, she likes that because there’s always plenty of kids to play with. I’m so happy we discovered it, and that we can just pop in for $ 10 when we need it!

A clean and fun gym for the kids, they could use more staff members to watch kids playing inside the actual gym. I also think they should monitor the children better maybe have a camera watching the front door and back door, it can be hard to watch more than 2 children at a time there because of the other rooms in the back that kids can play in, you have to physically walk around and watch.

We’ve been going since they opened and my son can’t get enough… he’s 6. We’ve done camp, Parents Nite Out and regular visits. I love the staff (Anthony ROCKS!!) and I love the facilities!!! The Play Place is a GREAT PLACE!!!

This place is wonderful! I don’t get the negative reviews about it. It’s an enormous and entirely safe environment for to go and play with your kids at. If you’re looking for a place where you can leave your kids and do your own thing, this doesn’t seem to be it. But if you’re looking for a clean, safe, adventurous place to take your children to play in, this place is top-​notch. We’ll definitely be back!

I disagree with both reviews and it’s an indoor play area for the winter. it’s a great place and if you want to just sit in the couch then stay home or in the hotel. My daughter is almost 2 and I played along with her and that’s part of parenthood. Great place for kids to burn off energy and it was only 10 dollars which were not gone to waist. Bring your own food the what they serve are basically junk food with the exception of fresh fruit. The place is not monitored by the staff but that’s why parents are FREE you don’t pay. Bathrooms are clean overall I was very satisfied with this indoor play area. If your plan is to just sit in the sofa and lounge around do yourself a favor stay home. Tennis, basketball and soccer are amongst the most popular. They also have slides to go with your kids be a kid again who cares what other parents think. Have fun with your little ones and be a kid for a day as well.

I think this place is great fun. My 2 year old loves it. However, you have to hit it at the right time. When there is camp going on or a school group is there it’s pretty chaotic. It’s a clean, nice space. On the loud side when crowded.

This was the only option we had while visiting the area. Keeping two kids busy in a hotel room during the winter is not much fun :(Anyway, I really liked how large the space is, but was disappointed in the play options. It seemed to be set up more for physical play, and then too, not much to keep children entertained — just a lot of space to run around. One positive was that if my kids were older, I could have sat in a central area and watched them run around. Being that my kids are 4 and 1+, I had to stay with them the entire time.

My family loves this place. I have two active boys ages 4 and 3, and winters are brutal with them being indoors so much.
The Play Place is bright and clean, and offers many different ways for my sons to burn energy and have a blast. They love the indoor play structure as well as the indoor soccer/​basketball/​tennis areas. The staff has always been attentive and helpful, and most importantly, there are NO VIDEO GAMES or arcades here. Highly recommended.

Went today for open play time with my 3 & 5 year old boys. The facility is clean and new, broken into a tennis court, soccer field and play gym. What was disappointing was the amount of children playing in the gym space unattended by both parents & staff. It seemed that there was some sort of camp going on, as well as kids for the open play. The staff were not interacting with the kids and the mothers were just talking and not paying attention.
I’ve been to countless places like this, and although the space was spotless, it could’ve been run much better. We only stayed an hour, pretty much wasting $ 18.
