I live at Elmwod Park. I went with my wife and order 2 hamburgers. We waiting more that 30 minutes and the meat was rotting. I make complaint and wasn’t care. Make pay $ 36.00 dollar for 2 lausy hamburger. I thing the Health Department have to check what some restaurants doing with poison food, employees and everything for keep healthy some restaurants, that is ridiculous.

Love this place. Food is delicious. I had this awesome strawberry cream cheese and it was a bomb. Their sliders are also delish. Love love love.

Standout here is the Onion Soup. Pasta, burger, and flatbread special among our party were under seasoned and not noteworthy. Service needed«reminders» for cutlery, drinks and check. We were an easy going family but made to feel high maintenance in a dining room with only two other tables occupied and servers not to be found. All in all, would skip in favor of better flavored and better served options around.

The ambience is interesting. Part of it feels like a dive bar, the other part a restaurant for the early bird special types. The lobster grilled cheese was okay, but for $ 22, it probably could have used a bit more lobster. The chili was okay, but far from the best I’ve had. As for parking, they must have some kind of deal worked out with the diner next door, because Twisted Elm says the diner lot can be used for overflow. The one positive thing I can say is the draft craft beer selection here is plentiful. I see an update review in my future with an improved rating once I’ve tried more of the menu.

Came here on a Tuesday night with a good friend. I was looking for a gastropub with some good food and drinks and I definitely found it here. We sat at a bar top and started with some IPA beer. They have a very nice selection. Then we started our food orgy. We had the charcuterie platter to start. It came with duck bacon, duck terrine and sliced Italian salami. It was accompanied with toast, grain mustered and mini gherkins. It was awesome! Our next trio of appetizers were the crab dip with chips, east west ribs and chicken and waffle sliders. They were all very good. Then for our main course we had their burger and a clam pizza pie. Both were fantastic. Finally to end this meal we had dessert. I had a cheesecake and my friend had the key lime pie. Perfect ending. The service was excellent and the ambiance was very nice. They even had an acoustic band playing. Will definitely recommend this place and come back in the future.

This place was amazing. The food was excellent and the ambience was adorable. It was so relaxed and the waiters were quick to help us and very nice. This is totally my new favorite place and I will be going as many times as I possibly can.

Great food and decent beer selection on tap! We had the hot crab dip as an appetizer and the ravioli special and lobster Mac and cheese as entrees. Everything was pretty phenomenal — will definitely go back soon!

I have been to Twisted Elm many times for dinner and I even had my bridal shower here but I was here this past Sunday for their pasta dinner special and wanted to make a point to mention it because it was awesome! I don’t know if they do it every Sunday but for $ 20 a person you get a glass of wine(red or white), a house salad, and a gigantic portion of pasta with red sauce, ricotta, sausage and meatball. It was so good and I had enough left for 2 days of lunch leftovers! You can’t beat it for $ 20. My ONLY suggestion would be that the meatball had too much breading and not enough meat. In addition(not included with the $ 20) I had a slice of key lime pie which they said was made in house and was tart and fresh. A really good slice of pie. I’m usually happy with my meal here but I especially enjoyed this pasta night option.

Been awhile since a place firmly reinforced my love of this business and the people in it. So much is promised and so little is delivered recently in the area. New too new, old just doing the same ol(or whatever new stuff the guy down the street does) NOTHERE. HERETHEFREEDOMOFCUISINELIVESINALLITSGLORY Love to get a great meal, feel like you found a diamond in the rough, had fun, and didn’t feel like you paid for more than you got(quite the opposite) Attentive service and a present owner without being pestering — Perfect brunch experience. Well done. Will be back again soon !!!

First time there. Menu selection was great yet simplified. I was told to get the burger with 3 types of meat in it. Oh man this was just the bee’s knees! All 4 of us had it and it was great. Also add a little of the Peter Luger sweet sauce!!! Then I had the bread pudding for my dessert. Just added to the experience!

This place is very unassuming from the outside. It’s a pleasant surprise when you walk in. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Service was great. Food was great. We had one in a wheelchair which they were super accommodating of. They set up the table right by the accessible door. Easiest and most accommodating any restaurant has been for us. It was very much appreciated. We came for brunch. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals. Brunch is served with a basket of fresh baked muffins and biscuits and a complimentary cocktail. Overall a good value for your meal here. Food: lobster grilled cheese, jersey burger, salmon cakes Benedict, cheese grits were among the favorites. We all plan to come back.

Came here for lunch on a Monday. Not sure what all the hype is all about, I was terribly underwhelmed. The space itself is pretty homey. It was a little dim, since most of the lighting was natural light coming from the windows. Furniture was wooden and rustic. Tap list was short, but mostly craft beers. But most bars have at least a few decent craft beers on tap these days. I had the duck fat disco fries. They were average disco fries. Nothing spectacular about them. Oh and service was very slow considering how empty it was. I’d go back if others wanted to go, but I didn’t think there was anything special about it.

Overall, I think this is a VAST improvement from the establishments that occupied this space prior to Twisted Elm. I’ve been here twice now, once for dinner and once for brunch and in the end, its pretty decent but nothing spectacular. That being said, I think I need to come back to try some of their more signature dishes so expect an updated review. My boyfriend is particularly invested in this restaurant because they are accommodating to gluten free diners. We had a pizza, which was really good, as an appetizer and then the Pork Chop and Hanger steak as entrees. This meal, from what I remember a couple of months ago, was great. Good flavors, attentive service, and delicious drinks. My more recent brunch experience was just okay. LOVE the first complimentary brunch drink, so no complaints there. $ 5 for any Mimosas/Bellini’s/Screwdrivers and $ 7 for Bloody Marys thereafter. I had the Greek Omelette(egg whites, spinach, tomato and feta). Good but not great. My biggest complaint is that it was fried in olive oil instead of sauteed in a non-stick pan or baked like a frittata. The home fries are great though; the skin is super crispy and they are covered in parmesan cheese. The fruit, was pretty pointless. They looked old and unappetizing. Since we were a big group of girls, the service was a little bit slower but nothing to complain about. In the end, its a pretty affordable meal. After 2 drinks, an entrée + tax and tip we ended up paying $ 25 a person. Like I said, I would definitely come back. Most especially for the lobster grilled cheese, white clam pizza, and some of that hot crab dip!

Came in for lunch with some work colleagues on one of their recommendation. The décor was rustic and inviting. I opted for the black bean veggie burger as I wanted to keep it light and it was quite good. It was topped with avocado, lettuce, cheddar and tomato. It was served on a fresh brioche bun and with a side of house-made chips. The chips were crispy but needed additional salt. The only issues were the service was rather slow and it was like an ice box in the dining area.

This place is another one of those hidden brunch gems. Also known for being a bar, Twisted Elm definitely has the features of an awesome brunch restaurant. First, muffins, biscuits, and your choice of a Mimosa or Cocktail are complimentary with your meal. The complimentary things were really good and had a nice taste to them(not noting the fact that anything that’s free tastes better haha). I ordered the Irish Eggs Benedict, and though I was a little disappointed that the egg did not ooze out as much as I would had loved it to when I cut my knife into it, the dish was still pretty solid. Presentation on the dish could definitely have been better; it seemed as if they just slapped the fruits and potatoes into a plate, but hey, the food was pretty decent regardless. Special shoutout to the servers. I just felt that they were accommodating and provided awesome suggestions when I had asked my server on what to get. Thank you! Food: 3⁄5 Service: 5⁄5 Overall: 4⁄5 Thank you Twisted Elm!

As my first local 5 star Unilocal review, I seriously regret not trying the Twisted Elm sooner! I live right in town, and prior to seeing the amazing Unilocal reviews, I hadn’t even considered stepping foot in the Twisted Elm. I used to eat«The Barn», which was the previous restaurant at the location. The food was always mediocre, so I assumed the Twisted Elm would be the same. I was so wrong! I loved every single thing about the Twisted Elm. Staff: The owner, Jim, was extremely welcoming and really goes out of his way to make his customers feel appreciated. Food: We ordered the sweet red muscles, mushroom pizza, and crab dip to start; It was love at first bite! Each app exceeded my expectations. I had to try the lobster grilled cheese after Unilocal tips. They definitely don’t skimp out on their ingredients. You’re guaranteed a mouth full of lobster and oozy cheese in every bite. However, it was a little too heavy for my taste. I could only finish a third of my sandwich. However, the side of house-made chips were impeccable. My mom ordered the cheaper hanger steak– AMAZING –and I wish I ordered it for myself. My boyfriend ordered a veggie burger, and said it was one of the best he’s ever had. Ambiance: Honestly, outside the Twisted Elm is hideous. It was like I walked into another world. The décor is rustic and trendy; definitely a hidden gem! The Twisted Elm is without a doubt the best American restaurant that I’ve ever tried in NJ. Next on my list is to stop in and try their brunch. I can’t wait to go back!! i

3.5 stars: Twisted Elm is situated in a very depressing location, along the Passaic River and across the street from a factory. Once you get pass that, the restaurant/bar is a good place for brunch, serving unique and appetizing dishes. I recently visited on a Sunday and the place was fairly busy. What’s great about the brunch is the complimentary drink that is included with each entrée. You can get a mimosa, bellini, Bloody Mary, or screwdriver. They also provide you with a basket of yummy mini muffins and biscuits. For entrees, I had the Irish Eggs Benedict which I enjoyed. The egg was perfectly pouched and the homemade corn beef hash was very good. It was served on a slice of Irish soda bread with raisins. Good balance of savory and a touch of sweet. Dish comes with these large pieces of seasoned potatoes that had surprisingly crispy skin. Also came with a small bowl of mixed fruit. Hubs got the Smoked Salmon Reuben which he thought was just ok. He didn’t think it had enough smoked salmon. He really liked the side of crispy pieces of potatoes though. As far as service, our waiter(who was also the bartender) was too busy and lost our order. He had to submit it again after we were already waiting 20 mins. It’s not a huge deal if we didn’t have our kid/baby with us. If you are a parent you know every minute counts. Our food arrived almost an hour after being seated. The manager happened to come by and we mentioned the delay. He apologized and was nice to offer us 20% off. Bonus points for him. The prices are otherwise moderate. Overall, I enjoyed food and despite the wait I’m willing to give this place another try.

I came here with a buddy of mine and we shared a whole bunch of apps for dinner. We each ordered a beer from the beer list chalked on the wall. We shared the asian style ribs, the disco duck fat fries, the white clam pizza and the red sauce mussel which the waitress brought out some bread for us to dip in. I took a pretty big hit on dinner since I paid. The mood is intimate as the lights were dim. The TVs are tiny at the bar where we sat. I won’t not consider coming here for any sport event like the UFC or superbowl. I wouldn’t even come to watch boring baseball. This is also not the bar to pick up chicks. The waitress come by plenty of times to check up on us. Parking might be an issue since the space is small.
