This place is truly unique for Northern NJ. The first time I stopped into this place, I was with my girlfriend looking for a new food spot.
First off, the food is incredible. You can tell that its prepared fresh. Careful consideration is taken to guarantee that the best ingredients are used and thoroughly prepared. Not only is it delicious, but you can really see that the owners of this restaurant have a true passion in ensuring you are completely satisfied with your meal and overall experience. I sincerely believe that you will be back after the first bite. The menu has so many options, they deliver, they cater, and they just absolutely ROCK! I cannot believe how much food and how many different options they allow! Youll have a hard time finding gator or bison burgers in this area to begin with, but with this type of quality, your best bet is Grillers. The meat is carefully selected from across the country!
In addition to the food, the staff only makes your experience that much more pleasant. As soon as we entered the place they were so inviting and it was quickly apparent that they didn’t only provide you with a fantastic meal, but ensured that it was enjoyed with a sense of welcoming warmth. They went above and beyond to ensure that we were completely satisfied! When our food came out, the owner personally greeted us and and asked us how it was! We spent some time talking and you can tell just from the way he spoke that there is a extreme sense of pride and genuine appreciation for his business and its customers.
All in all, this place is a MUST for anyone looking for a great experience. The menu has so many selections that you are sure to find something. The fries are hand cut to order the desserts are amazing (get the Oreos).

Came because of the Unilocal reviews. Don’t understand them. The food is ok at best. Fries are tasteless. The place smells like grease. And the service was slow and indifferent even though it was pretty empty. I guess the locals know not to trust the reviews.
Also, while they have some unusual items on the menu such as bison, the day I was there they were out of all of them.

I’m a little disappointed. At first glance, this mom and pop burger joint extrapolated to be a weekly, if not a daily indulgence. I’m the type of schlemiel who believes every 5-​star review on Unilocal,but it’s evident to me that the proprietor of Grillers pays close attention to their reputation, so perhaps the rating is somewhat skewed.
What initially attracted me to grillers is that they deliver to my home during lunch (1−3pm). I ordered venison burgers, as this is a rare offering from any place that serves the dead cow, and the first several times I enjoyed the burger and chicken nuggets. I used their frequently changing checkin deals (which have a tendency to be quite bizarre – «large fries if you are in high school” – I didn’t qualify for that one, unfortunately).
My disappointment stems largely from Griller’s inability to accurately execute custom orders – extra onions and cheese choices were ignored once, and executed erratically. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be back, even though the onion rings are delicious, but for the price – my orders were generally $ 20/​person – I expected more.

Went back last night again. Omg, amazing fried pickles and onion rings and my son bad bison burger — all excellent! The lady there is extremely friendly and helpful, we will be back soon and will try something else on their menu. But the onion rings are the best I have had.

This is a takeout review: Got wings and fried pickles with a spicy aioli. Delicious! I would order this food for parties as well.

If you’re looking for fast food, this isn’t ur kinda place. The food here is worth the wait! They use freshly ground meat so if they run out you might feel unlucky but you have plenty to choose from. Especially, if you’re feeling adventurous! They have; bison, ostrich, venison, elk, lamb, crab burgers AND GATOR! If you do try the ostrich or gator u can buy a tee shirt that says so. We had the WILD WILD BURGER, phenomenal!!! The bf had Ostrich, deeeelicious. We shared the WHISTLE PIG DOG, mmmmmmm mm mmmmmmm! We also shared the gator nuggets. Never had gator before so that was awesome.

Get the fried oreos. Seriously, just do it. They come under two large scoops of ice cream and are topped off with chocolate syrup and powdered sugar. They are to die for.
My friend and I went there and both got the whistle pig dog and split shark bites. I had never had shark before but was pleasantly surprised. It tastes like a mix of chicken and fish. The chipotle sauce that came with it was delicious as well. The whistle pig dog– a hotdog wrapped in bacon and covered in cheese– was pretty damn good. I was so happy at the end that I came back the next day to get food with my family.
Might I mention that the people that work there are the most kind, polite people on the planet?

Had an amazing experience of old fashion hospitality! Owners were attentive informative about their menu and provided us amazing food and service! Even let ya sample shakes! Steak and cheese swich zucchini chips and fresh made to order food were awesome! I can say to date I have never had such impeccable genuine service! Please go there!

This is my first review in a while, but for good reason. This is my second visit to Grillers in less than a week.
Environment:
Grillers is a small mom-​and-​pop in Emerson. The seating area is fast food. Think Subway but much cleaner… It’s a great place for lunch, a quick dinner, or dining with family — especially with kids.
Staff:
Very friendly and hospitable and attentive.

You can say this is a hole-​in-​the-​wall place with amazing food. Why? The food is freshly prepared. I ordered a California burger with a chicken patty. They grind and make the patty ON-​SITE! The burger took about 20 minutes to arrive but the when it did — it was well worth the wait. The size was good and was grilled perfectly. The taste was simply amazing perfectly seasoned and smoky — holy smokes!
Okay what’s more is that they have many exotic meats — if you’re into it… Bison, alligator, etc. I haven’t tried anything exotic but I am tempted.
They also have hot dogs, wings, kids meals…
If you’re in the area or even if not, take the trip to Grillers. You’ll never want to grab a burger anywhere else. I’m back for more after 2 days!!!

Been here a couple of times. Great hamburgers and fries and a huge assortment of exotics meats. The best burgers in Bergen county for sure. I had the ostrich and California burgers, both were terrific. The fried chicken takes 25 minutes but really worth it.
Definitely worth a repeat.

Normally I don’t write reviews but this place was so good that I had to leave some feedback.
I had the Gator Burger with Chipotle Mayo and grilled onions and it was AMAZING.
All of the food from the meat to the french fries to the sauces tasted extremely fresh.
The meat itself was well seasoned and very tender.
The place itself is small and would probably fit around 20 people max.
Everyone there was extremely friendly and the atmosphere felt very relaxed.
I’ve been to many different burger joints but this place is by far the best I’ve ever had.

I had the gator…
First of all I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I had tried this place back when it opened and the burgers were pathetically thin and tasted like cardboard, BUT NOW they’ve really fixed those prior issues and its a definite must go. They’ve also expanded they’re menu and its has some good options.
I had the gator burger and it was excellent, the shoestring fires and onion rings were freshly made. My husband had the Haddock Dinner and it was HUGE, he couldn’t finish it there was so much. I think the prices are a bit high but people have to pay rent. My husband spoke with the owner who personally came out of the kitchen to say hi and was very pleasant to talk with. We will definitely be going back for another round in the near future.

Friendly staff. quality food. great prices… what more can you ask from a local establishment… definitely highly recommended … unique burgers are a must try!

A friend of mine has been telling me about Grillers for a few weeks and how I needed to go there and try the different burgers; crab, gator, ostrich, etc. Well, I went twice in one week and had the crab and gator burgers, various varieties of their hot dogs and gator bites.
The crab burger is as good as any crab cake I’ve had in Maryland and Virginia and I swear, you’d never know you were eating gator. The gator bites were excellent and all their hot dogs are made by a meat producer in upstate NY.
Grab the family, grab the kids or just go by yourself and stop in and say hello to Larry, his wife and the staff. They’ll make you feel right at home and you’ll never leave with an empty stomach!!!

Had an great time at Grillers! Came here with my boyfriend and his family for dinner on Saturday night + we will definitely be back.
The restaurant is very clean and the owner is SO NICE. He really makes an effort to go above and beyond with exceptional service. He gave us remote controls so we could change the channels and he just wanted to make sure that we were comfortable.
I enjoyed everything we ordered but I highly recommend the pickle chips and onion rings. The fried pickles were HUGE! They weren’t little coin sized ones that I’m used to. The onion rings were fresh the breading was also very delicious. They came with chipotle dipping sauce and ranch dressing. Also, try a burger or a sandwich that comes with their egg rolls. Don’t know where they order those from, but they are out of this world good. They don’t all apart when you pick up the sandwich.
We also ordered gator bites but they didn’t have them. To compensate, they gave us two orders of deep fried oreos for free. They definitely didn’t have to do that but it was really appreciated. The staff all had smiles on their faces and again, the owner was great. Probably the best service I’ve ever had.

The food was great and the staff were super friendly. I would definitely dine here again. Ps the gator nuggets were pretty rediculously good!

My BF heard this place served gator burgers which he had been wanting to try … so on Saturday night we took a 45 minute drive to Grillers. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with smiles and like we were family friends.
I immediately noticed how clean the place was and that the staff wore hair nets and gloves. As we were seated, we were filled in on Griller’s homemade methods of cooking and healthy choices in oils, seasonings, fresh meats, etc. Needless to say I was impressed.
The menu had many choices but we came for gator so gator we got… gator nuggets and gator burger. Apprehensive to try gator, I chose grilled chicken … and for sides we chose regular and sweet potato fries. The fries were well seasoned and my grilled chicken was on a piled high fresh bun with chipotle mayo dressing on the side. The gator nuggets were in a tasty batter and the burger was well seasoned and also tasty. My apprehension for gator quickly faded as all other food were tasty treats. The gator was delicious. It now had two new fans.
More impressive than the food and reason I chose to review Grillers was the owner, Larry and his staff. The girls never stopped smiling and were always attentive to make sure we had what we needed, that our drinks were filled, and that we were satisfied with our food. Larry went above and beyond. He knew the regulars and treated them like family. With my BF and I, he sat with us… Told us his life story and asked us about ours. We laughed, had a good time and felt like we made a new family friend. We stayed a lot longer than originally planned. Larry shared his homemade soda with us (peach and pineapple) as well as extras and dessert as we sat, laughed, and had a good time.
We’ll definitely be back… Next time with the kids or friends … and we’ll have a table filled lots of menu choices to sample … hopefully with Larry joining in.

Just stopped in for lunch. Free regular hot dog with check in. It’s a small spot, seating for a little less than 20 people. I was with 2 of my friends, and we ended up ordering the majority of the menu. We were initially drawn in by the allure of exotic meat burgers. Unfortunately, elk burgers are now off the menu.
We ordered everything from hot dogs, fried chicken, burgers, fries, and onion rings.
Onion rings were impressive, undoubtedly made from scratch. Fries were well seasoned, but not very crispy. Never really liked shoe string fries, I always preferred a thicker cut. Picked up a free hot dog with my Unilocal check-​in too. It had a nice char to it, crisp but not burnt.
The fried chicken was a pleasant surprise. It was not on their website’s menu, nor did it look particularly special, but it was undoubtedly the best thing we ordered. And that’s not just because fried chicken is my favorite food. Whatever they used for breading was very light and very crispy. It was also seasoned very well. The breast meat was very juicy, not dry/​overcooked at all. I’d rank this chicken above Popeye’s and KFC, but below the Olive Original chicken at BBQ Chicken and Beer.
The burger was undoubtedly pure venison, no beef mixed in. But the rest of the ingredients brought the burger down. Overall, the venison burger was OK, but with a few very simple changes it could be great. Easiest one that doesn’t require anything, melt the cheese. The cheese was not melted as you can see in my pictures.
Service was impeccable. The girl at the counter was very attentive and got our large order right. She checked on us frequently, though I don’t really think this place was meant to have waitress service. It seems more like a fast food joint. The chef, who I’m assuming is the owner, also came out to greet us, telling us about upcoming items like gator tots and ostrich burgers. Had I more time, I would’ve loved to discuss how to improve his current venison burger.
Good local spot. Very cheap too. Probably gonna make my motorcycle pit stop list next riding season.

LOVE grillers best place to go to when your in the mood for a good hefty burger :) one of my favorites is the California burger especially if you an avocado type of person!
Wings are delicious probably the best around, but most of all the all beef hot dogs are to die for. If you truly want an amazing hot dog the all beef is the way to go plus you can get any toppings you want… chili, relish, all different mustards, hot sauces.etc.
Very homey feeling inside, everyone is so welcoming. owners are extremely respectful & courteous along with their polite counter girl and kitchen staff! If your looking for fresh quality food, & some nice people Grillers is where you want to go!

I had take out from Grillers tonight, i got ¹⁄₃ burger with grilled onions, pickles and cheddar.
The owner/​workers were very friendly and what you would want from a local privately owned business. The décor is clean, but simple and more for function than for ambiance.
My burger was good, the patty is the thin style, opposed to being ‘big/​juicy’ (as the the website seems to hint at. The onions were plentiful and a nice touch. The bun was of homemade/​bakery quality, albeit mine was just a tad stale, just a tad.
Overall, 3 ½ stars. if ur looking for something a cut above fast food and want to support local bergen business (as we all should), than i can definitely recommend giving Grillers a try. i would happily return.
Update:
The owner had sent me a message after this review, explaining the situation with the bun on this particular occasion and invited me to come back.
Thus, i gave Grillers another shot with another take order for my wife and I. We each had burgers and i must say they were quite good. The ingredients were fresh, the buns were good, maybe a tad large for the size of the patty but overall we were happy with the experience and i’ve thus adjusted my rating up to 4 stars.
