Steak ‘n Shake

Eh pretty good burger but nothing to write home about. I would say this location is good enough for a mall, but not the type of burger i would ever crave. Also doesn’t feel like the cleanest place. Typical fast food joint

Honestly, I must say I’m quite disappointed. Steak n shake was definitely a lot better when they first opened up. Service was more attending and the restaurant was definitely a lot cleaner and the food was much better.
The prices are pretty good especially when u order the original for $ 4.99 which comes with fries but everything else is pretty much the same price as getting a value meal from McDonalds or any other fast food without a drink.
Anyway, I usually order the chili and the original but I must say the chili was disgusting. It was thick and barely had any meat in it. It was all beans. Its a little disappointing when you crave something and you finally get the food and it doesn’t meet you expectations.

Very good value meals available here. Burgers taste good and the foot-​long dogs are pretty much what you expect. What became the highlight were the shoestring fries which complemented the main meal very well.

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten at a steak and shake and if I did, I see why I didn’t remember.
Service at this location was super slow. There were at least 4 empty tables of about 9 and we were given buzzers for our «fast food» to let us know when I was done.
My hotdog bun so wet and soggy in some spots I had to rip it into pieces. It wasn’t just a little greasy, which I expected.
I didn’t get a milkshake but if I could order 10 more rounds of fries, I’d come back here.

So delicious! Excellent burger and fries every time… Portion sizes are perfect too! If only they were in more places… I would go there over any burger joint, any time.

If its got to be a burger place, this is the better tasting one. 100% beef! Always support 100% places versus those 80% (fat/​organs/​nails).

Food is alright. Nothing like the Florida restaurants service or quality of food. I have visited this Paramus location a few times because I love the fries but the service here is always horrible and this late experience pinned the nail on the coffin.
The person cleaning used her dirty gloves to serve my fries, I got an attitude from a MGR for calling her out on it and got served bacon that wasn’t fresh. I will never give them my business again, I even called the 1800 number to comment on my visit and no one ever followed up. The rep on the phone said she took down my info and pretend to type lol
Don’t waste your money here !

Always wanted to try out this place so thought I’d give it a shot when my boyfriend and I were shopping.
Atmosphere was okay I guess, very fast food like. I personally wanted to take our food to go but we decided to sit.
The tables were all gross and dirty. Ketchup and mustard stains on tables and chairs. Food on the floor. You can tell no one had cleaned it all day.
The woman behind the register wasn’t very friendly. It was my first time so I was trying to look at the menu, meanwhile no one behind me waiting. She clearly wasn’t happy that I wasn’t ready to order. So I just ordered the first thing I thought I’d enjoy.
I felt like the food took forever to finish. But I can honestly say the food was delicious. I got a regular burger and fries and absolutely loved it. The shake afterwards was awesome, but once again took a REALLY long time, longer than our food so we just sat there waiting and waiting.
Also place is a little smaller than I thought so seating was limited. I was almost afraid by the time we did get our food we wouldn’t even have somewhere to sit.
I’m not sure if their staff just isn’t trained properly yet or just doesn’t care but I hope some of this gets fixed. I’ve heard other locations are amazing, so hopefully after awhile they’ll step it up a bit. If so, I’d love to come back.

My only regret is not trying one of their shakes! I ordered the jalepeno crunch burger. I was really surprised how good it tasted, looove the toasted bun ^^ And their fries! I. love. shoestring fries. We got regular and cajun, both delicious :) Gotta hit up the santa monica location soon!

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE if you want a chili dog and seasoned fries. We ordered a chili dog each, bf got salt and vinegar fries and I got Cajun fries. He got the peanut butter shake and i ordered a plain chocolate.
The only thing he liked was his shake. Girl forgot to make mine. We waited 20 minutes after we got our food for my shake. The fries were over seasoned and the hot dogs were gross. When I finally got my milkshake, it was full of ice chips and tasted like vanilla. Will not be returning.

Being 2 months pregnant and returning from the Middle East, I can’t finish to express how much I was looking forward to their shakes.
Before this pregnancy I would take my daughter to the mall to simple walk with her would always get a shake and enjoy. But now I beyond enjoy it, it is the best thing. Cravings are insane and I can say that this shakes def. satisfy mine.
Pregnant or not, is the place to go to for shakes!

First time here and I tried the Royale burger. A Double Steakburger with melted American cheese, Applewood smoke bacon, lettuce, vine-​ripened tomato, and mayo. All topped by a delicious fried egg. Served with fries. Plus I ordered a chocolate milkshake.
Burger: I thought it was good but not awesome. Perhaps, I chose foolishly.
Fries: Too thin for me! I like thick fries. Also, it’s not house cut fries. Bummer. I like to taste freshness, please!
Shake: Was expecting a creamy– silky texture shake but I thought it was too gritty, or icy. Difficult to really enjoy the chocolate flavor. In fact, I do remember taking a sip, then another sip and a few more sips to figure out it lacked richness.
Other than that, service was expected from a place like this. «give me your order and NEXTT!» Doesn’t bother me. It was a busy day and still managed to find seats. The tables and chairs were clean and organized, lucky me. Good location for shoppers. Closed on Sunday. Pretty cool set up.

This is a late post. I was here the previous Saturday around lunch time. I have noticed this place get dirtier and dirtier. I am a fan of this place but noticed the lack of up keep and professionalism of the place. I did not get a chance to take a picture of the cleaning spray bottles left on the tables because the customers returned it back to the staff. It would have been useful if he staff actually used it to clean the tables or something.
Many other customers complained since no one was cleaning the tables and it was every customer for themselves. It was a disappointing visit. I hope this place cleans up for patrons and makes the experience more enjoyable.
We had cheeseburgers, fries, chicken fingers, and shakes. And our bill is the typical $ 40 range for 1 adult 3 kids. Hire paging system was broken so he workers were screaming out the numbers. Food is still tasty but the mismanage of cleanliness is disappointing. Please fix the place up for my and other peoples next visit.

Had my first Steak ‘n Shake experience this past Saturday afternoon with my friend and fellow Unilocaler Kimmy M. It was really crowded when we got in there and we immediately stalking people for our opportunity at a seat. We waited in line and had our friend sit in a booth that had just became available as we waited patiently to place our orders. I ordered the original double with cheese that is served on a toasted bun with two beef patties, cheese, lettuce, mayo, ketchup, onions, and pickles. My meal also came with fries and a fountain drink.
After waiting about 10 mins for my order to be ready I went up grabbed it got a container of ketchup for my fries. The fries here are shoe string fries and ity bity, I wouldn’t mind them being a little bigger. The burger was excellent and cooked to perfection. I wasn’t expecting much from here but they surprised me so much that I would definitely come back again if I was shopping at the mall. Another thing that will keep me coming back would be the price. I got a double burger with fries and a drink all for around $ 7.50.
The reason I took away two stars was due to cleanliness. The booth we sat at had crumbs embedded into the cushions and the table itself was sticky. Not to mention all the gnats flying around as I ate, yeah I can def do without those annoying insects.

Ever since I went to North Carolina in 2006… or maybe it was 2007… whatever… I dreamt about the day a Steak ‘n Shake would come up north. Now it’s here and it’s bittersweet.
Why is it bittersweet? Well, while the food and shakes are still delicious and crazy cheap priced, it is not a stand alone store. In the south, Steak ‘n Shakes are delicious 24 hour eat-​in/​waited table service establishments that also have a drive thru. They are perfect for all occasions, from breakfast to drunken binge eating.
So, bottom line, this particular Steak ‘n Shake is great. It’s delicious food at great prices. There’s no wait staff here. You order at the counter and pick up your food. It’s tasty and the service is decent. Eat here and try it! In fact, try two or three things because you definitely won’t break the bank if you do and you won’t regret it.

ATTN:rich entrepreneurial Unilocal readers: Invest in opening a 24 hour, drive thru and table service, stand alone Steak ‘n Shake in Bergen County, preferably in a 5 mile radius of Paramus. In no way do I have selfish motives of wanting to eat there at all hours of the day/​night for my own convenience. I just want you to get richer. And I want the surrounding community to have access to delicious food 24 hours. And the children. I say it for them too. Do it for the children. Yeah…

Solid, higher quality fast food burgers for a low price.
Steak ‘n Shake competes with the likes of Smashburger, Five Guys, and Shake Shack in the category of a high quality fast food burger. They all have their differences, but Steak ‘n Shake has the rest beat on price. Their signature steakburger is only $ 5 with fries. The burgers here are apparently made of steak. Dunno about that, but they are good. Shakes are pretty good too. I had their Birthday Cake Shake, and it was basically ice cream cake put into a blender. Exactly what i was looking for. The have a Coke Freestyle machine too if you just wanna make crazy sodas.
I don’t normally like shoestring fries, but they do a good job. Thin, crispy, not greasy.

Don’t get this place confused with the other «Shake» burger place; this one actually makes good food!
For $ 4.99, you can get a delicious double cheeseburger with thin lightly salted fresh cut french fries. It’s another $ 2 for a soda with unlimited refills because they have that awesome Coke Freestyle soda machine. Yes I will mix 4 different types of Fanta thank you very much!
The food here is cooked fresh and quickly. That’s not to say that my burger’s coming out raw but they don’t mess around at Steak ‘n Shake. True, these burgers aren’t as thick as a bar burger or: gasp: Fuddruckers (I still miss the one in Paramus, screw you Dos Cubanos!) but they are still meaty and flavorful. I don’t know how you could go to a McDonald’s or Burger King if you have a Steak ‘n Shake nearby.
The original double cheeseburger’s great, so is the Jalapeño Crunch with pepperjack cheese, chipotle mayo, jalapenos and french fried onions.
The burgers here slightly remind me of In N Out burger out on the west coast (though not as addicting).
Unfortunately since this location is inside Paramus Park Mall, it’s closed on Sundays.

Pretty good.
Was running errands here and grabbed a quick dinner, was not disappointed.

All the food at Paramus Park is a ride to the second floor. I had no idea this place was even here.
Off a side hall, I told them they should offer free samples out in the main hall to draw people in
Tried the portobello burger. It was cooked to my request, was juicy and came with some well seasoned fries. Couldn’t even think about downing a shake… maybe next time!

À tous les Québécois qui vont dans ce coin ou en Floride où il y plusieurs succursales vous devez manger un de leurs Burgers et leurs minces frites le tout accompagné d’un Milk Shake. De plus, les prix sont super raisonnables. J’ai mis un quatre étoiles seulement parce que c’est un resto de cuisine rapide sinon un cinq étoiles serait mérité pour le type hamburger.
