This place makes a tasty little burger where the beef is flattened to get those crispy edges(similar to smash burger). That being said, I do agree with other reviewers in terms of the prices being a bit steep here. I personally only ever order the shack burger because it’s the cheapest option(5 $) and it winds up being enough for me with a side of fries or a concrete, though the size is only slightly bigger than a typical fast food burger as others have mentioned. Apart from their burgers, the real draw for me actually lies in their concretes(particularly the bergen county blend) as their rich and creamy frozen custard proves better than ice cream. It is called Shake Shack after all isn’t it?

This place must be owned by Evil Crazy Eddie, much the way Howard Stern has an obnoxious version of David Letterman on his show that he calls Evil David Letterman. Or Evil Dave, for short. Why, because these prices AREINSANE!!! I’m not giving a fast food chain $ 12.00 for a burger the size of a McDouble, soggy fries, and then to top it off, no soda refills? I walked out… and unless you’re the president of a Fortune 500 company, you should too. PS: The ONLY place I’ve ever been to that has the same outrageous prices in their restaurants as they do at Citi Field. Gasp!

We have been wanting to try Shake Shack since they opened. We were in the area, early on a quiet Thursday so we hoped to avoid the crowds we heard about. It was quiet and we’re greeted by a very nice gentleman who gave us menus to read while we waited on line order. The menu isn’t large, six burgers, two chicken and a few hot dog options plus fries. The emphasis is equally on the Shakes and frozen custard. Hubby and I both got the Shack Stack, a crisp fried portabello filled with elted Muenster and cheddar atop a cheeseburger. They only cook the burger medium or more but it was surpringly juicy and tasty for a medium burger. The fries were good but not hot when we picked them up. Hubby loved his chocolate shake. I thought my burger was good, but not outrageous. The meat was tasty, nice presentation, fresh toppings. This is a cute fun place and th6e staff is great but I don’t know if I would make a special trip to brave Route 17 and what we heard is a very crowded parking lot. I couldn’t help indulging in a little dessert. A small cup of frozen vanilla custard with salted caramel sauce and dark chocolate chunks. Ok, this was very very yummy and worth the trip. Other mix ins are Chocolate truffle cookie dough(definitely next time) chocolate toffee, strawberry purée, fudge sauce, peanut butter sauce, marshmallow sauce, and banana. Nice extra –5% of the sales their Bergen County Blend custard supports Children’s Aid and Family Services in Northern New Jersey. Very nice Shake Shack. The custard is worth coming back for. Ialso bought a Bag O’ Bones(5 big biscuits from Bocce’s Bakery) but the jury is out on them till we get home. ;-)

The Story: After looking at their new chicken sandwich… I’ve been wanting to come here. Food: I ordered 2 of their chicken sandwiches with french fries. I thought the chicken sandwich is too salty for my taste. If you like salt, you might enjoy it more than I did. The fries were crispy but lacked any flavor. I didn’t just pay $ 3 for these sub par fries…(yeah I did and I regret!) Unfortunately I think Wendy’s has a better chicken sandwich. Price: $ 16.66 for 2 chicken sandwiches and 1 fries. My boyfriend was still hungry afterwards so that’s not good. I had a bowl of steamed veggies before this meal so I was full… Décor: Very modern and hip. I like it! Service: I didn’t notice the service. They took my order, i paid, got a buzzer thingy, it buzzed, got my order. I think I waited 10 mins for it though. Parking & Finding the Place: Uh yeah, this was difficult. I always miss this exit and it doesn’t stand out as much as other stores on 17. Additional Thoughts: I will probably come back one more time. Just one more

It is good that they opened a location out of NYC, we love their burgers and we came here few times. Always had good food. I was sure they will be little less pricy since they are out of New York, but the prices are still too high. But with the high price, their burgers(and fries, although many other may disagree) are the best. They took the fast food, and made it into quality of a restaurant that makes burgers just for you. I love them so much, that it not the price, they would be 5 stars.

Not being from area we of course we missed the tiny hidden entrance to get into Shake Shack. So heads up, there’s a small one way entrance, followed by a separate one way exit. Several people missed it as well, we watched in horror as one car went as far as to put the car in reverse as cars whizzed by at 70 mph. We chose to take another 2.5 mile lap and circle around. Annoying… yes, but totally worth it. Since Shake Shack is a novelty for us we threw calorie counting out the window. And here it goes… Smoke shack burger boasted crispy huge strips of bacon balanced by sweet cherry red peppers. The new chick’ shack burger was a crispy spicy chicken patty sandwiched between a buttermilk ranch dressing and lettuce and tomato. Yes it was good but honestly could go head to head with its equivalent at Wendy’s or Chick-fil-a. Crinkle cheese fries, crispy. My husband and I differed on opinion. I thought they were ok, not worth the extra money or calories because the cheese tasted artificial. I would stick with regular fries. Oatmeal crème pie shake… luxurious smooth oatmeal flavor that will have you craving your mom’s homemade oatmeal cookies. Shack attack ice cream which had chunks of delicious chocolaty goodness. Incredible. Service. Excellent. Everyone was super friendly and despite the place being huge and very busy this Friday night they kept everything clean and had our order out in under 10 minutes.

YES. Please, yes. I love burgers. I remember a young, hot, tight bodied version of me scarfing and inhaling mounds of their burgers and shakes after waiting in a long line in Manhattan with a sinewy dress on, hung over from what blurred memory I… let me stop there. Let’s be nice, that was literally years ago!(hey, cool it over there; I’m still young but I’m a momster now. You read it, MOMSTER.) I was giddy to eat here when it opened. Still giddy ever since! Hamburger choices are simple and very flavorful. It has a very sweet unctuous after taste, but only true meat eaters love it. The shakes are simple, and could definitely take a lesson from the neighboring burger joint(cough: bobby!) Service is fast. Cheese fries are decent. The silent winner here is the basic hamburger that they offer. They can adapt and learn from other places like zinburger, but for some reason, I find shake shack charming. :D

First time ever at a Shake Shack — because I wasn’t about that 1 hour wait time for a damn burger. Plus I’m a vegetarian and there’s only ONE veg burger on the menu. One. (Btw be careful with Google Maps. It puts you on the wrong side of the highway and doesn’t give U-Turn directions.) Now that the hype/wait time struggle is over, I ventured to SS for my one struggle veg option. A ‘shroom burger. Whoop-di-do! I didn’t read the specifics, but at first sight, I was less than impressed. There’s no cheese on this frail ass burger?! Here’s where ish got cray. When I bit in to my ‘basic looking’ mushroom burger, the cheese oozed out volcanic lava style on my fingers — and burned the shit out of it.(So that’s what that ‘Caution Hot’ sticker was all about. Alrighty then, noted!) I should have tended to my burns, but, the amazing-ness that was happening in my mouth, took precedence. All of this is to say that the mushroom burger is THETRUTH, and if my palate memory serves me right, it tasted like fried chicken. Ya’ll meatarians should give it a try. I swear, it’s life!

I can’t warrant giving this place 4 – 5 stars… it’s a chain that makes a solid burger. It’s definitely not the best burger I’ve ever had but it’s very good, just not sure it lives up to the hype. I had the smokehouse burger with cheese fries. The fries were excellent. Crunchy, perfectly salted, and a must try if you’re in there. The highlight of the meal was the shroom burger which my wife got. I only had a bite, but I definitely wish I had gotten that instead. Lastly, the shakes were good. A bit too sweet for our liking but enjoyable nonetheless. I’d go back, but wouldn’t go out of my way.

3.5 stars really. This is the iconic NY shack and that is the convenience and the issue. Feels too franchise-y over here in NJ. On the positive, great burgers and the holiday chocolate peppermint shake was great. Yet this fits in with the whole mall scene with all the«brand» stores in Paramus. I always hope folks find the real NJ great shacks and high end restaurants when they have time. This was a good stop after a day of Christmas shopping for a late lunch. I did not buy the $ 7 Shake Shack holiday chocolate bar, just a tad bigger than a Hershey bar. My bill for one burger, one shake, no fries, $ 11.71. For a family of four, Shake Shack could easily be a $ 40 – 50 dollar meal, and that is a lot for what you get. But the burger and shake taste good!

For me this was a prime case of the hype not matching the reality. It seems like despite a market currently bursting at the seams with«burger joints», more keep on coming. As a cheeseburger aficionado I feel it is my duty to at least sample the new openings, but I waited quite a while before trying Shake Shack as I refuse to wait on long lines or deal with mayhem just to try a cheeseburger. On a recent visit to this Shake Shack I was excited to see what it is all about, and quite frankly was not impressed at all. The store itself is nicely decorated, and the staff seemed competent enough. However, one look at the menu reveals that this is NOT a cheap burger joint. I ordered a double something or other cheeseburger special with some fries and a chocolate shake, my wife had a single, fries, diet soda and the bill was over $ 30.00! SO, was it worth it? Meh… I’ve had much better tasting and larger burgers for a lot less money. The crinkle cuts fries were tasty and hot, but the burger wasn’t anything spectacular. Good, fresh tasting meat, sure if you could actually taste the meat. Thankfully I had a double. My wife’s single was lost in the morass of toppings, etc. that all but buried the burger patty. The chocolate shake tasted no better than what I’ve enjoyed my entire life at White Castle for a lot less money. The shake is very small and way over priced. Ditto on the cup size for the soft drink and there are no refills. So, in the North Jersey area we have a plethora of burger places to enjoy with spectacular burgers and shakes for a lot less money. Manhattan sized pricing was not required. So, I came, I tried and you’ll find me comfortably back on my corner stool at the White Manna in Hackensack.

Ok firstly, these burgers are the perfect size, you can easily finish one and maybe even eat half another one. I debated between the Smoke Shack or Shack Stack… and I decided on the Shack Stack and I wish I didn’t. There was absolutely no flavor in my burger, in my mushroom patty, in anything! I went with someone who RAVES about shake shack and I felt bad for not liking this place, as I know others swear by their burgers. We also shared cheese fries and they were ehh. One thing I can say is I can tell the quality is top notch… and I love that. I want to be eating 100% meat not fillers and here you can taste the quality. Right now 3 stars from what I tried… next time I am trying the smoke shack and I hope I can bump up my ratings!

I don’t know why the reviews are so poor of this location. I do think the whole Shake Shack enterprise has become a tad overhyped, however, after years of not going and only going to the NYC and Miami locations, I just had to try the Paramus location so conveniently located right on the highway. Being a long-time vegetarian, I had only had the stuffed mushroom burger before(soooo good yet so bad) and the concretes(which were way too sweet for me at the time). So I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and get a … burger! Not just any burger, one with smoked caramelized onions and bacon and cheese and shack sauce. This may have been one of the best burgers of my vegetarian life. It was on the small size and pricier than I would’ve liked but that comes with the territory and is expected. You MUST get the cheese fries, which are covered in a homemade sauce of 3 cheeses. Even my hubby scarfed them down and he has never liked cheese sauce or cheese fries. They were so perfectly crispy, makes me want to go back now. And then, yes, you HAVE to get the Christmas cookie shake! I didn’t want another overly sweet and thick concrete, so the shakes are much better and while still sweet, easier to drink. This one is perfectly flavored, tastes like cookie dough and has these awesomely amazing chunky cookie sprinkles in red & green. I really cannot wait for my next visit. Both of us were stuffed and for well under $ 30 this was quite a magically delicious albeit very unhealthy dinner. Next time I am craving an overdose on salty and sweet, I will most definitely be back!

This is a love/hate for me. As I previously mentioned I visited both the Shake Shacks in downtown Brooklyn near the Marriott Hotel and this particular one on Route 17 South the most often. I feel they have the best Shake Shack hamburgers and shakes, because I can order my hamburgers rare, which I love. I am a carnivorous animal you know. They use to offer the BEST hand-cut fries, but, now they serve frozen crinkle cut fries, which I hate! But I also love their shakes especially the special shakes and their standard caramel, which I had today for lunch.

This was my first visit to a Shake Shack, and I’m former Californian and a loyal fan of In-N-Out Burger, so take that for what you will. I came with my family, and I ordered the SmokeShack as a double. Then I looked at the price. Almost ten bucks for a double burger? Really? Screw that, make it a single. After a few minutes, our food was ready. I immediately thought the burger was way too small for something I just paid over 6 bucks for. I took a bite, and my initial reaction was, «I don’t see what all the fuss is about». It was a damn fine burger, don’t get me wrong. Very tasty. But not something that I think would develop a cult following and a passionate fan base. Just a good burger. Then I tried the black and white shake. Wow. Damn good shake. Maybe they’re onto something here. The fries were tasty, but I am a shoestring french fry purist. What is this Ore Ida krinkle cut bull$h!t? ok, ok, they still taste great. The cheese sauce is good too. Overall, I thought it was pretty good. But why the fuss? Then I got up and ordered the Salt Water Toffee concrete. Holy crap, what happened? I think I passed out from flavor overload after taking the first bite. That. Was. Delicious. Caramel, toffee, frozen custard, goodness. Freaking amazing. I loved it. In my opinion, it’s a great place(albeit pricey) to get a burger. The shakes and concretes are where it is at, though. That is the great differentiator. They call it Shake Shack for a reason. Notice that burger isn’t mentioned in the company’s name.

My first time at Shake Shack, my first time at this existing location. So I have to point out that that is what really gets it 5 stars in my book. When a place has existed and the food tastes like the restaurant just opened. Well then, you are doing something right. I wish more burger joints were cookin’ with fresh ingredients. I ordered the Hamburger with Shake Shack Sauce(Yum Yum) and a Strawberry Milkshake. A lil pricey for my liking but I guess ’tis the times of super-inflation on even a burger. I spent $ 10.10 for two items. So I can only imagine how much I’m going to spend when I bring the family. To today’s teenagers, I guess this would be considered an expensive first date –The Shake Shack LOL :-D But the veggies in my burger were all fresh, the bun quite tasty — sweet bread sorta, and quality meat. The shake not too thick, not too sweet… I am salivating now thinking about it… who knows I might be making a run to Shake Shack tonight.

I think my true rating is a 3.5 but I’ll give it the 4 stars. Let me start by saying that my burger was delicious. Keep in mind, Shake Shack is a fast food joint, the burger is expected to be greasy. So yes, my burger was greasy and juicy and I loved it. I really enjoyed the shack sauce they put on it. Couldn’t put my finger on the exact ingredients but it was mayo based. I’m a fan. I got an order of fries which were cooked just right, slightly well done. Left them with a nice crunch. There were also a few other note worthy things that I noticed. One, they have tap water on tap! I really love that they offer this to their customers instead of forcing people to buy a soda or a water bottle. Huge plus in my book. Also, the condiment station was kept VERY clean. Usually whenever I go to get ketchup I get grossed out by the grimy conditions but not at Shake Shack. Everything was well kept after, another huge plus. I also noticed that the garbage cans were wide open so you could easily dispose of your trash without having to touch the nasty swinging cover that’s usually filthy. Much appreciated. I was really disappointed to find out they their shakes are only offered with whole milk. Come on Shake Shack, what about your lactose customers? Get skim milk!!! Sucks that I couldn’t try out one of their shakes but it is what it is. I got a lemonade instead and didn’t know this was possible but the lemonade was bad. Just didn’t taste good at all. Also, this location is a BYOB. Who would’ve thought?!

This one is difficult because I have mixed feelings. Their burgers are outstanding but are so in a greasy, yummy sort of way. They are not the pristine quality of say, a Habit Burger or a Zinburger. They are more along the lines of a 5 Guys but not quite as good. I love 5 Guys. Their fries are also outstanding if you like the crunchy waffle variety. Very, very few places cook them properly; they’re either too soft or overcooked. These are absolutely 100% on point. More old school than the shoe strings that seem to be the norm and I am a huge fan. Their shakes are epic and untouchable but I don’t really drink them. So again, somewhere else is going to be my preference if I am just looking for a burger. If I feel like having a shake, they’re tops on my list. Also, while they do have a veggie burger and chicken offerings, these are not all that great. Again, I prefer the albacore burger at Habit if I’m looking for a healthy alternative. When we were there the other night one of the ketchup dispensers was broken and the other was empty. Epic failure considering that 99% of their customers require it. All and all, I think that Shake Shack is a solid burger place, especially if you’re looking to pair up with a shake. If, on the other hand, you’re looking to be even remotely healthy, there are way better choices.

Went again this past weekend & still to die for. What are cheeseburgers when you have Shroom burgers? Did not wait long on line especially for a Friday night place was very clean & service was good. Ended up getting 2 rounds because it was so good. Ordered the Shroom burger twice.

Here’s the best way I can describe eating here: Have you ever imagined eating a cloud that was full of sunshine and rainbows? That’s a Shake Shack burger. Ever since the company went public, the restaurant has blown up and essentially has become close to being the next Chipotle for very good reason. The food is perfectly cooked for fast-ish food(it was about a 10 minute wait). It’s all labeled as «no-GMO’s» and«organic» and«locally grown» so you feel pretty good about yourself while eating them. Like some NYC socialite or anyone in LA. You know the type. But my best advice on this is to beware of long lines and waits and a heavy parking lot. If you even think about coming here during the lunch or dinner rush, then God bless ya.
