Burgers are too greasy for my liking. I would much rather go to the Fireplace.

I’d been painting all day followed by running errands, I hadn’t eaten since 10AM and I would have eaten the steering wheel if it had been edible. «Eff the diet», I said. «I NEEDFOOD! I WANTJUNK!» The fastest place that didn’t involve reheated pizza that had been sitting out all day at Anthony Franco’s was Smashburger. I got a build-your-own regular burger with barbecue sauce, grilled onions, cheddar and tomato, a side of sweet potato fries, and a side salad. I wish these places would stack these things correctly. I had to completely rearrange the off-kilter burger when I got it home. But the burger was tasty(if a tad oversalted), the onions had a nice bite to them, and the whole thing was delicious. I had started digging into the sweet potato fries in the car, and much to my amazement, there was NO grease at all on my hands. THAT is a sign that they know how to deep fry. The salad was decent — some mixed greens and usual fast food salad stuff, but it was fresh — no brown edges here. The whole thing was twelve bucks, which is a cheap dinner, but not when I think of how the same twelve bucks would have bought me three dinners’ worth of Chinese takeout. But when you’re hungry, you’re hungry.

We used to stop here all the time until last week I ordered the usual classic smash and within an hour was violently ill. I ended up having to spend the night in the ER with food poisoning. My husband tried to call the manager just to let him know to check in on the kitchen and never heard from him to have the conversation. Super disappointing.

Surprisingly REALLY good salads– loved the taste, loved the size, and I really loved the price. I ordered the spinach, cucumber, and goat cheese salad and it was very filling. Will definitely come back again.

Having tried the rest, five guys, Steak ‘n Shake, et al, this place is by far the best. You do pay for it though… Food is always delicious and fresh. And the staff is always friendly. Don’t forget the smash fries.

Stopped here on late Friday night as we were driving through Paramus. Wasn’t busy at all. We ordered a NJ burger and the Baja Cobb salad with grilled chicken. Burger was good, something about the Smashburger patties they’re so thin. The salad was solid, dressing good. We also got the mint Oreo shake(knockoff Shamrock shake), very good. Service was quick and friendly, and the place was quite clean.

Is it fast food or is it not? Well, you come into the store, go to the counter, place your order, pay, sit, and woops, 5 minutes later they bring you your order. Avocado ranch on bean burger has become my favorite. And yes, the skinny fries are amazingly crispy! Done eating? Need somewhere to throw your garbage? «You can leave it there, we’ll take care of it!»

Recommendation: Sweet potato fries smashed and any shake Finally, a chain burger restaurant that’s healthy. I had an avocado burger which came with a whole wheat bun. It tasted fresh, light and not drenched in oil. Burger remained in one piece as I ate it which is awesome and hard to find at many restaurants. Burger was flavorful but lacked just a bit. I wish there were more avocados and an egg to top it off but burger was still delicious! Location is a bit tricky as it is on 17 North and without a prominent sign. Seating is very ample within and is kept very clean which is another huge plus.

I love the bean burger. I HATETHESERVICE. I hate when I have to complain about service. It is one of those things you should just get right if you want to do fast food. There should be a sign on the door«Send your snotty teenagers here and we will employ them». Again, bean burger was great. Fries = suck Why can you never get my order right?

I just love this place… fast food with a restaurant mentality. You place an order form a very simple menu, go get your own drink, sit down and 5 minutes later your food is brought to you. You eat, and the then just leave your trays on the table that the staff is enfatic about. I felt kind of guilty, but they just made us feel natural about it asking us to leave it with a smile. The food is also top notch… burgers, chicken, salads… all scrumptious. The fries could use some upgrades, but overall the food is amazing. Tip: salads are the best bang for your buck!

The food at Smashburger is a solid three stars. Definitely not the best burgers but better than some other«fast casual» restaurants. I have found that the black bean patties are too soft– maybe they need to be put in the oven or cooked longer. They taste fairly good but I wasn’t a fan of the texture. The regular burger patties are better. The«smashing» of the burger supposedly makes them juicy or something. Not sure if this actually works. I have found that some of their burgers are on the salty side(for example the truffle one) but generally, I’ve enjoyed what I have ordered here. The one plus is that the service is always excellent. Very friendly employees who make sure you enjoy your meal.

This review is more centered on the first time I tastes this burger, but also the service was friendly and the place was clean. The only thing I ponder is why they don’t ask how you want your meat done but it doesn’t matter mine was great and if you know me I still like my cows mooin like MOOOOO! All I can say is holy crap how come I never ate here before? It’s absolutely the most amazing burger I’ve tasted in awhile that my mouth waters just typing this. I had the mushroom burger with truffle seiss and I love many mushroom burgers this was an awesome version, complete with the stringy fried onions which were absolutely amazing. I just ugh. I don’t know what else to say I just imagined eating it again right now. damn if only it were closer but the drive is indeed worth the go.

Enjoyed the veggie options not found in other burgers places that we frequent. Had the avocado bean«burger» with cheese, lettuce and tomato. Tasty and filling. The ratio is a little off to me. Next time, I’ll ask for double cheese and still skim off some of the outside edges of the bean patty that hung well outside the bun. My partner ordered a bacon-egg-cheeseburger. He likes being able to customize his burgers. Says on burger alone, he’d still go to Five Guys. But being able to add the egg was enjoyable. The veggie frites(green beans and carrots, lightly fried) are a great alternative to fried potatoes. Don’t need the ranch dressing that comes with them. On the down side, there was a slight mix up in the order. The extra patty ordered for our dogs ended up on the veggie burger instead of the cheeseburger. In this case, not a big deal. Gotta go slow and watch carefully for the turn in. It’s slightly beyond the parking lot. We accidentally turned at the building before and hit a nasty pothole. Last, the price. Here’s where 1 star was lost. As good as the food was, our tab(with one soda, no shake or french fries) was $ 23. About 15% more than our usual Five Guys tab. A healthy alternative, at a clean place with pleasant service.

Eh. Nothing great here. I think this is more hype than substance. This is an over-priced fast food place. It’s like Mickey D’s meets Chipotle. It has an upscale-ish fast food feel and somewhat fresh food. I had the Baja Burger. It had fresh(ish) guacamole and raw jalepenos. This Unilocaler likes her fire. It was nicely balanced with the cool of the guac, so that was nice. No one asked how I liked my burger, so it’s a bit of a one-size-fits-all sort of thing, like McDonalds. I asked if they had onion rings. They suggested the Haystacks. I should have stuck with fries. The Haystacks were gross. They were like pieces of a twice-fried, overly greasy part of an Outback Bloomin’ Onion. They were in no way outstanding and sat like a grease filled rag in the bottom of my stomach. Yuck. I may return and try the same burger with chicken or a bean burger, but I won’t do the beef and definitely won’t do the Haystacks. The salads could be options also. I’m glad I checked it out, but I’m in no rush to return.

That chicken avocado burger was so delicious and I didn’t feel like I was giving my heart a serious case of cardiac arrest(I had to remove the bacon though) Also, the jolly man who brought us food was such a delight, he truly brightened up our day with his positive attitude and smile(trust me, I usually find these people annoying). The world needs more people like him!

I was very disappointed with the burger which was sad especially comparing it to Shake Shack, Zin Burger and even Five Guys. Service was spot on but then again when we visited this location it was empty and it was only 8:45PM. Burger and fries served hot, didn’t have to wait long but just the taste was not what you would expect, well what I would have expected. you want to bite into a thick burger, Smashed burgers are of course smashed so a bit thin even if you ordered the«Big». Not only thinbut not very juicy(well it is again smashed). There are just so many burger joints these days and it is tough competition and I won’t be coming back unless there are no other burger joints opened. by the way, can we get thick fries again as everyone is serving think cut fries except for Five Guys.

I wasn’t planning on going here for lunch, but here I am. I opted for the local, a «New Jersey Burger». It came with Bleu Cheese, bacon, crispy onions, sautéed onions and mayo on an onion roll. Based on the recommendation of one of my Unilocal friends, I ordered the Smash Fries. Wow, crispy and delish! The place was empty so there was no line. I’d eat this every day! P. S. I would add something creamy like more mayo or special sauce to this. I just think it needs something else.

I was excited to try Smashburger because 1. I love burgers and 2. they have a TON of toppings. My excitement diminished after receiving my New Jersey Burger at my table. With seven toppings and condiments, the burger looked diminutive. The patty itself looked dry, and after a bite, it was overcooked and dry. Not all was bad. I finished my burger due to starvation from shopping in the area all day and continued to demolish the tasty variety of fries that Smashburger offers. I ended my meal with a black and white shake to-go, it was amazing.
