Best bagels around. I checked (and taste-tested) the bagels from all the bagel places on Route 17 between Route 4 and Mahwah. Bagel Stop is the best. And they open early enough that you can get fresh bagels and still make it a 7 AM meeting. I’ve even made the 10-mile trip from my house to bring these bagels somewhere that’s in the opposite direction.

Dirty as hell and no consideration for sanitation whatsoever. The man handled all of the bagels with no gloves at all. The lady put my chicken on the flat top, then proceeded to pick up cardboard off of the floor with her gloved hand. Then she picked up her phone, and started texting, again using her gloved hand. Then she proceeded to touch my chicken and roll with that same gloved hand. I refused the sandwich and demanded my money back. Absolutely disgusting. If I could give no stars for that dump I would.

Another convenient stop along an impossibly busy section of Route 17N — just crammed silly with all manner of small businesses in aged strip malls — poised to tumble like dominos at the first sign of the next economic apocalypse. When these businesses start failing, recession is not far behind.
Like its neighbors, Bagel Stop is a bit on the dingy side. A truck stop/tradesman sort of sandwich place without frills or too many smiles.
Which is ok by me.
The bagels are decent and they sell out by about 2pm — which I see as a good sign for any food service provider — turnover is good.
Not a bad choice if you need to feed that Jersey jones for taylor ham. They will flat top most any TH combo you hanker, and the prices are consistent with the décor.

Great little family run bagel place. The bagels are crisp on the outside with just the right amount of chewy on the inside. Not overly dense and not puffy. The workers aren’t mean, they just hustle to keep the line moving and try to get your order quickly. They should probably get a dedicated cashier though.

When working with food you should NOT handle money!
Came in for a bagel and the older woman made my bagel, then checked me out and touch my money with BOTH her hands!
GROSS! My bagel will now go in the garbage!
I’m sure she will NOT wash her hands and use the same glove she had on for the next sucker that walks in!
$ 3.10 for a bagel with cream cheese and tomato!

Just got a taylor ham, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel, and it was the single greatest thing I’ve eaten in quite a long time.
Only thing I would knock them for is the ordering process. It’s always difficult to know who is on line and who isn’t, I accidentally cut in front of another customer.

First off, I don’t get where all the negative reviews are coming from. My husband has been to this place over a dozen times and he has yet to encounter any attitude from anyone in there. They are always friendly and their bagels are fresh and warm and absolutely delicious. The everything bagel is amazing and the french toast bagel is out of this world! I definitely recommend! Prices are reasonable.

This is the last time I will try this place, First off I wasnt crazy about this place the last time I was here about a year ago, but it has just gotten worse, the service is terrible and the prices are really high. This morning I ordered a traditional taylor ham and cheese on a bagel and it was terrible. Service is super rude and slow. For a good breakfast sandwich and better tasting bagels go up 17 onto Ridgewood Ave. Service is quick and good.

New Jersey water isn’t the greatest which makes buying bagels a gamble. However, the bagels at this shop are delicious. Mouth watering and tender each time you bite a bagel made at this store. A family business, the owners are the ones making the sandwiches. They spend so much time there and away from their families or they hate their jobs that they can be down right nasty. Maybe it is located on the highway and lack core customers? They seem not to care when taking orders and in fact, it is quite annoying. I go there just because it is close by and the bagels are great!!! They should hire professionals who can handle the public with a smile. Attitude is just as important if not more when selling food.

I have to agree with the other reviews pointing out the prices here — they seem to make them up as they go! The elderly gentleman in front of us got a bagel & butter and was charged $ 1.15 (seems fine to me). We got 2 bagels with cream cheese and a small bottle of water and ours was $ 8? That just seems off — I saw another couple pay $ 15+ for 2 egg sandwiches and OJ. We won’t be returning!
The one plus was that our bagels were still warm when we ate them (and we did not arrive first thing in the morning) or have them toasted.

Every time I go in here I get charged top dollar. Last time they screwed up a double egg and cheese (one egg no cheese). Two egg and cheeses one OJ was 11 bucks. Each time the price is different, always too high. The last time I was in there, as in final, the guy rings me up banging on the register like an angry toddler, THEN asks the woman what we ordered. She tells him after he rings us up and then he hits the register again. 11.50 later for a routinely sub par breakfast, the order wasn’t even right. I think the sign is misleading it should be read as a traffic sign /warning. As in STOP! Get your breakfast elsewhere.

Ever since this place went under new management, the quality has dropped, the attitudes have gotten worse, and the prices have tripled! i paid $ 19 for 3 BLT’s! I will give them this their bagels are good, but u can go a quarter a mile up the road to Fairway and get much better tasting bagels for half the price.
