My wife dragged me to the mall for some shopping and we decided on this place for lunch. I had a burger combo with fries and a drink. Buckhorn Grill is best described as an upscale fast food establishment. My burger tasted like a decent burger should and my fries were comparable to the likes of Mc D’s, Wendy’s or(insert your favorite fast food place here). The one thing I really liked is the variety of sauces that were available. So I made my own concoction of fry sauce by mixing horse radish sauce with ketchup, about a 20⁄80 ratio for a nice tangy dip with a little bit of a kick. No disappointments here, but then again, we were at the mall and my expectation wasn’t very high.

Much better experience this time. Staff was friendly and the food was spot on. The caesar pleaser was excellent! Thick cuts of tri tip were perfectly med rare. We will be back very soon to have it again!

A fast food restaurant with a shiny exterior. This place looks alright from the outside but the food quality and cleanliness is poor. We ordered a sandwich and a salad. The salad came with a stowaway fry and was covered with deep fried onions. The sandwich was ok but nothing more than some pulled pork in a hamburger bun. There also seemed to be sauce smeared all over: tables, serving trays, the floor. I’d stay away.

I arrived at 12 noon. Service was relatively quick even though there were quite a few people there. I got the bacon cheddar burger, which was horribly over cooked despite the fact that I asked for a medium. Also, I realize that it sucks having to take sick days, but when you are coughing all over the customers then you should consider going home in stead of spreading disease to everyone around you.

The food was really good and came at a reasonable time. I ordered through grub hub. Took away stars cause they messed the order up. Gave me a burger instead of the tri tip sand which. Mashers and onions were yummy.

We stopped in after a movie to get a quick bite. The woman behind the counter told us we could only get sandwiches, even though the cook told us we could get salads or platters. When we tried to order, the cashier nastily said, «Oh no, I’m not taking your order.» She then yelled across the restaurant to the other cashier to come take our order. The other cashier looked like she hadn’t slept in a week. She kept asking she same question multiple times. Only after we had ordered did she tell us they were closed… the two of them glared at us the entire time we were eating. It was so awkward and horrible. IF you’re closed, lock the door, flip the sign, and don’t take customers. If you’re open, then have a positive attitude and some decent service. They told us we couldn’t have drinks, put away the sauces, and my poor husband got in an argument with the cook because he couldn’t carry everything but was told he HAD to have the buzzer, even though we were the only people waiting on food. The food was decent, albeit a little salty. Nonetheless, if I were the manager, I’d have a sit-down with those two cashiers… they made sure we’ll never be back.

Paid for trip-tip salad and was given a chicken salad. Super inconvenient as I had already gotten home, called and only resolution was to drive back. Really disappointed.

Inedible. We’d never been before, but stopped here yesterday for lunch and ordered 2 tri tip sandwiches. The tri tip was pure gristle, unchewable, disgusting and gross. We both took bites, looked at each other, spit that sh*t out and left.

Good, reasonable and abundant. The Mexican crew was not that friendly and the service was par at best.

Good food, good ambiance and great views of the bay from their outside seating. The staff is meh… they are there to do a job. But they tend to group up near the restrooms and are commonly in your way or late to go assist you if you want to order. Other than that, the food is always good.

Came into the Resteraunt recently and the dine in service seems to be much better. Even if you place your Order to go and come in person to get it, better chance of your order being right. Seems like they may have also gotten new staff! Not amazing service or even great service but the guy at the register Monday night was really nice and when they made a mistake on my order he made sure it was fixed quickly!

Came here for welcome lunch for my new person in my team and we walked from our office to this place. The salads here are huge but the protein portion like the salmon is really small. The tri tip salad though looks good with crispy onion rings on top. Lunch is affordable. Place is clean. Service is fast. Giving a 3 stars because their salad is good but not mind blowing. Will probably try the trip tip salad or crispy chicken with avocado next time.

I am so disappointed. The last three time I have been here I have been hoping that the folks here would clean up their act and be the tasty food place that I loved before. Sadly they have failed and I feel the need to update my review. I usually get a burger and ask for it to be cooked medium. Lately it has been cooked past well done to the point of the patty being straight charred. I am not ok with that. To top it off, the tri-tip that both my sisters got was on the verge of being rare, it was very chewy. Granted their veggies, mashed potatoes and fries were all on point. The meat in general was very disappointing. We all left feeling a bit queasy and none of us finished our meals. Hopefully the next time I come back(not anytime soon) the food will be up to par again.

Great meal, they are always busy so that’s a great sign. They get the good out fast so the long lines move quick. You can also order a whole tri-tip for the entire family great for the holidays. We always order catering for our sales meeting and the people always rave about the food.

Let me start by saying that the service at Buckhorn Grill is pretty bad. No eye contact, no smiles, no greetings. I guess this is pretty typical of a chain restaurant so I overlooked it and went ahead with my order. I had the Big Buck a tri tip steak sandwich. I thought why not it’s what they are known for! The sandwich was pretty good for $ 10. Meat was tender enough and flavor was good. Noting spectacular but no complaints. My favorite thing is probably the location. From their outdoor/Indoor seating area on the 2nd floor of the Bay Street shopping area you can get nice views of the Bay bridge way off in the distance on clear days. So if you are already at the Bay Street shopping area it’s not a bad choice.

funny how i used to work near a buckhorn when i lived in sf, but i never ate there! my friend and i were shopping at bay street emeryville and decided to have lunch here after perusing their menu. they had a special for the day, which was a greek salad for $ 6.99. i chose this option since the price was nice, and also requested chicken breast to be added in for an additional $ 2.50. i paid and was handed a buzzer which would«buzz» when my order was ready. we chose a table right next to the window which was nice and cool, and allowed us to people watch to some extent. my salad was ready in a matter of minutes, but when i collected my order, i noticed that the tray some somewhat soiled as there was food or sauce leftover from the previous guest who used this tray. oh well… at least the salad looked good. the presentation was nice as they stuck the toasted pita sticks onto the side of the salad, with the rest of the ingredients in the middle. the saucer of dressing was put on the side, per my request. there were lots of chunks of chicken breast added in, which i liked since i need my protein! the olives, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions were all pretty fresh. the vinaigrette dressing was slightly sweet and slightly tangy which worked well with this salad. overall, good food at reasonable prices at a pretty standard american café.

I love Buckhorn. I love this place more than the same store but in SF. In most of the Westfield malls around the bay area, this store is very common. But out of all of them, I really enjoy this location the best. I usually get the kids meal as I think it’s perfect. The size is great, a few chicken strips and fries along with a small soda, which is refill able. I love the atmosphere, you can sit inside or out. The service is fast. I remember when I used to go, they say they finish their orders within a certain time, and if they don’t then its free. They have plenty of sauce on the side for you to take, such as ranch, bbq, etc. which is free of charge. This place is great as you can shop and eat, or watch a movie. There’s plenty to do here and it’s a great environment for kids, families, and dates.

I’ve walked passed the Buckhorn Grill many times since I’m not a fan of chain restaurants. Finally stopped in a meal and what a nice surprise it turned out to be. Salads, yes, real salads. Piled high with goodies and tasty dressings! I really enjoyed the Roadhouse Salad with tri-tip added. From the crispy onions to the succulent steak, every bite was a burst of flavor. I never tired of the taste and this salad is huge. The tri-tip was sliced in bite sized pieces and cooked perfectly medium rare as it should be. Mr. S enjoyed the Cabo Cobb but I never came up for air to sample it. I will stop in again when in Pleasanton to see if the quality of the meal is the same.

Ive always wanted to try buckhorns steak house but i had to settle for buckhorns grill. The plate i got seamed like a good deal but when i got it i felt i got ripped off. I paid 21 dollars for a thin dry piece of chicken breast and a piece of tri tip the tri tip was sooooo good i just wish i had gotten more for what i paid for. The place was kinda dirty there was wet paper towels on the floor and straws on the floor as well. The veggies that i got were hella good tho i wish i would of gotten more. If i were to come back i would just stick to a plate with more tri tip and i would ask questions like, how many pieces of tri tip does this plate come with.
